Great food and friendly staff. Fajitas were seasoned just right. Good variety of Mexican food along with some American favorites.

Absolutely the Best place to get your Spanish food! Amazing staff. It's the only place in Ballinger we choose to eat.

The chicken enchiladas were moist and the sauce was pretty standard.

Perini Ranch Steakhouse - Slice of medium-rare ribeye perfection

If you're looking for a short road trip from Fort Worth that feels like a true getaway, you've got…read moreto check out Perini Ranch Steakhouse. From the moment you arrive, it feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere--in the best way possible. The rustic atmosphere is incredible, and on the cool day we visited, they had a wood-burning fireplace going right in the middle of the dining room. It made the whole experience feel cozy and authentic. What really stood out, though, was the people. The service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. I even had the chance to chat with a woman who's been working there for over 20 years--she shared some of the restaurant's history and how it's evolved over time, which made the visit even more special. For food, we started with the fried quail legs--perfectly cooked and seriously delicious (we could've easily eaten more). For the main course, I had the ribeye cooked medium rare, and it was spot on--full of flavor and didn't need a thing added. My wife went with the hamburger steak and loved it as well. Great food, even better people, and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. We'll definitely be back.

The ambience is fine; sortuv a rustic cabin feel. We've had great service the two times we went, and the table bread is wonderful. Not impressed with the thick, (cooked?) carpaccio or the overcooked brussel sprouts. Compared to the USA, it's a 3/5. But in Abilene? Maybe a 4/5.

We live in a remote part of southern…read moreNew Mexico where the restaurant choices are very limited, so when traveling I always promise my wife (an inveterate foodie) her favorite meal, a crab leg dinner. We found The Wharf listed as the best seafood restaurant in town and the reviews were very good. We arrived and instantly liked what we saw. The decor both outside and inside says, "Seafood" to customers, having a fishing dock look outside and a wooden ship like interior. We were quickly and professionally seated in a cozy booth, and the bar server arrived to take our bar orders within moments. Our drinks arrived very shortly afterwards followed by our server, Lacey. She introduced herself and told us that she would give us a few moments to look over the menu and would be back. She was neatly dressed and very pleasant to talk with. True to her word, Lacey returned a few minutes later when she saw that we had put down our menus, which were very extensive. The surf and turf lover's dream, I would say. We ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer. Each order came with eight shrimp, perfectly prepared on ice. The cocktail sauce was excellent, not being too sweet and pleasantly tart with an extra bite to the horse radish. My wife and I ordered 1 lbs. of the Dungeness crab each, that being the crab legs that were available that evening. Our entrees arrived shortly after we had finished our shrimp. I will state, uncategorically that this was the best crab leg dinner I have had in fifty years, and I grew up on the northern California coast where these crabs were probably caught. I am not a sea food lover like my wife. I only like lobster, shrimp and crab. I never eat the knuckle meat on crap legs because they always taste fishy to me. These did not. All of the meat was almost sweet with a very rich and robust flavor. The crab was served with a generous helping of well-prepared asparagus, my favorite side with crab. The bill for our dinner, with five drinks added, was less than $150, not including a generous tip. It was well worth the cost. To sum up, the wait staff were pleasant and knowledgeable, wait times were short even with a full house, food more than that just excellent, ambiance relaxing and unhurried. We will be visiting The Wharf again, when we next travel to San Angelo.
