The food in this place was absolutely horrible. We ordered basic tacos, the meat was cold and super tough and chewy. The beans and rice also tasted very old and were still cold. We ended up leaving with our plates still half full. Nobody asked what was wrong or cared. Please DO NOT patron this "so called" restaurant, you can do better anywhere else. Acapulco's is good for what it is, fast Americanized Mexican food. I'm not a fan of the margaritas as it taste like koolaid lime flavor with tequila added to it, just very blasé and too sweet. Margaritas should be sour and strong. Not sugary. The best thing this restaurant has to offer are tamales with the Chile con carne on top . The other dishes are fresh and well made, I have no complaints about them. After a long day of working at a golf tournament, we brought our weary bodies to Acapulco for a much needed margarita and maybe a snack. Well immediately upon looking at the menu i noticed the 2.75 sangria and was stoked. Everyone else hunted for the margarita and saw none. WTF? Its a mexican restaurant! Well unfortunately they lost their liquor license and therefore no margaritas. Seriously... if you're a mexican restaurant and lose your liquor license, change to something else! I wanted a margarita. We ordered some queso and bean dip that wasn't bad at all, and i decided to get a 3.75 buritto. Well i should have saved my $4 and waited to eat until wawa the next morning. It was literally just ground beef and tortilla. No sauce inside. Nothing. Ground beef. I ate it cause i was hungry, but i was really disappointed. And my 2.75 sangria? Tasted like grape juice. No fruit. Basically the most disappointing meal ever... but it cost me less then $10 w/ tax and tip so i really can't give it 1 star. read more

Stopped in here on our way to Roanoke for dinner. Staff was friendly and efficient and holy cow the food...the food was outstanding. Reasonable prices and huge portion sizes. I eat a lot of Mexican food and this was one of the top places I've been to. I used to go here a lot but finances prevented me from going for quite a while until tonight. It is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Started off ok. I got my chips and salsa quick but then it went downhill. It took a good 20 minutes for a server to come to our table. The restaurant was reasonably busy but far from packed. We ordered and our food came in a reasonable amount of time but when the server handed me my plate I was shocked. I have seen dog food that looked more appealing what was on my plate. There was also a huge ring of grease all around my food. I ate it because I was hungry but there was absolutely no flavor to the food. It's horrible when you can say that the only good thing about your dinner was that you didn't have to cook it. I would not recommend this place to anyone anymore. read more

In town on business. Very pleased to grab lunch here. Service was friendly and speedy. I LOVE Mexican cuisine and was not disappointed. I ordered chicken fajitas. It was cooked perfectly and well portioned. Steamy but not overdone. Chicken was tender and juicy. Guacamole was well flavored. Salsa was very mild but fresh. Worst experience ever in a restaurant! Waitress brought us the wrong food. She then proceeded to argue with me about what we did order. I asked for the manager; the owner comes over and really didn't care. The waitress comes back over to continue arguing and was just very rude. I asked the owner if she was ok with how her waitress was acting and she responded with yes, she's ok. Wow! Reasonable food, quick and professional service and cheap prices keep me coming back. The fare is pretty varied for a small town Mexican restaurant and overall I have never had a bad meal. If I go in as a single I like to eat at the bar and watch TV instead of taking up an entire table. The bar area reeks of smoke. Check your ticket. Ordered a $5.50 lunch special and tea and total was $12.21. When I inquired about the high bill they said it didn't come with rice. I said the menu said it did and we looked and it was a totally different menu than I was given and I didn't want to argue. Solid Mexican fare. My carne asada steak was quite good and a large portion, served searing fajita style over grilled onions and cilantro. My other dining companions all complimented their's as well. My wife said her chicken tacos were good and she liked that they were lighter and less greasy than other versions she has had elsewhere. Only criticism is that one of the kids ordered fries with her taco and it came out w/ rice and beans. When this was brought to their attention they took the whole dish back rather than just leaving it and bring the fries out when they were ready. Also, they were a little slow refilling glasses and my wife and I would likely have ordered another beer if more promptly asked.
