We did the Harbor tour kayak trip with my sister and her 2 kids, and none of them had kayaked before. Our guide, Ryan, took great care of us and gave us a lot of information about the islands, Bar Harbor, and Acadia. The kids really enjoyed their first season kayak experience. Two thumbs up and would definitely recommend. read more

We had an amazing experience with Acadia Outfitters! My friend and I had a booking mix-up (our fault), but Emily and the team went above and beyond to make sure we could still get out on the e-bikes. We rode the carriage roads to Jordan Pond House for lunch, walked the Jordan Pond Trail, and biked back--it was one of our favorite days in Bar Harbor. Friendly, helpful staff and great bikes--highly recommend! read more

While looking for an E-bike rental we noticed lots of places book out a couple of days. We had great luck with Acadia outfitters and was able to snag a reservation. Just over $100 pp for a whole day of fun isn't bad. *note* just because this is in town doesn't mean you can't ride into the park! I thought it would be a long ride into the park but it was only about 1.5mi from the shop to the carriage road. Even as an avid hiker this was a GREAT way to explore Acadia NP on the carriage roads. We did the loop they suggested and ended up doing it in a figure 8 stopping halfway for lunch at the Jordan Pond House. Started around 9:30am and came back in around 1:30pm which was plenty of time after riding 25miles. We still had 3bars left on our bikes. I did this with my husband and his parents who are in their 60's. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable answering any questions we had. I would recommend this place for E-bike rentals! read more

Our family rented 5 e-bikes today. We had a great time around the park. We had a mishap of our own doing and Acadia Outfitters was there quickly to replace the bike. The employees were all great and I recommend them to anyone wanting to see the park in a different way. Thank you Acadia Outfitters for a great day. read more

We walked in before lunch and were able to reserve 2 E-bikes for half days after lunch. Easy access to the carriage trails. Very easy to use and charge lasted 32.7 miles with a good bit of battery left. Great experience we had a lot of fun read more

We had a great time riding E bikes on the carriage roads! We rode 37 miles and it was beautiful! The Owners were so helpful and informative . They work hard and you can tell they enjoy what they do! The location is great for getting on the carriage roads. Thank you for a fun fulfilled day!!! read more

Walked in for a same day rental of 4 eBikes. So happy they were able to accommodate us even though this was at the height of busy season. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location on a quiet street in Bar Harbor is only a short ride from Acadia National Park. The eBikes are very easy to ride; comfortable seat, easy to switch gears, quick release to change seat height etc. We ended up doing a 30 mile bike ride! Fortunate to be there during blueberry season; made quite a few stope to grab a handful and admire the beautiful views : ) read more

Pleasantly surprised with the uncommon customer service at this wonderful shop. Though they didn't have the tube size required to repair a flat tire on my my e-bike, they searched the shop for a tube repair kit. Not finding one they asked me to go to the neighboring hardware store to purchase one. Upon my return they had the tube removed and quickly patched it. And they refused to accept any payment for their work. Special kudos to Bill who said he could fix it even if they didn't have the tube needed. A great experience all around! read more

Website states bike rentals for the half day start at 0830. We got there at 0800 to be sure to get a bike, as the site stated reservations were recommended July and August. We were there off season at the end of September. Not only did we wait till 0900 for the store to open, but they were sold out of e bike rentals a week out. Per their website: Q: How far in advance do I need to reserve the bikes? A: If you're visiting the area in July or August, we recommend making reservations a couple days in advance to ensure you get a bike! So we ended up wasting not only our morning but also couldn't rent a bike at all during our only trip to Acadia. Very disappointed. We would have reserved far in advance if half day rentals were allowed and may have considered a full day had we known it was the only way to have the experience. read more

We visited Bar Harbor back in June of this year however my life would not be complete if I didn't review our experience with Acadia Outfitters. On our second to last day, we saw scooters and decided to rent them. The service at Acadia Outfitters was impeccable. After a quick "road test" we took the scooters to ride the Acadia loop. The directions given were a little confusing, even with the map given. However it was all worth it. We stopped and asked for directions a few times. We stopped and had famous popovers per Acadia Outfitters recommendation. AMAZING. We spend the whole day on the scooters and didn't want to stop. When our time was up to give them back, there was only an hour before closing and the workers said we could take them out for the rest of the time as they would not be rented to anyone else at that time. Such a nice gesture. HANDS DOWN OUR BEST EXPERIENCE AT BAR HARBOR / ACADIA RECOMMEND! RECOMMEND! RECOMMEND! read more

The owners of Acadia Outfitters are so friendly, kind and professional. They were such a pleasure to deal with. We rented from them twice on our visit to Maine and both times, they suggested great trails and places to take the E-bikes and scooter to. All their rentals were well maintained. We look forward to dealing with them again when we return to Maine! read more

Great electric bikes! Super smooth and plenty of juice to easily knockout the entire park with normal to high assist active. Loss of a star because I wish we felt just a tad more prepared. The staff was great at the location so not trying to knock that but it would be nice if they provided a bike lock for the expensive bikes/rental and noted a few points on the map that can be confusing for bikers. Overall, could not imagine the other e-bikes in town being better and the location is great for easily getting to and from the park/hotel in town. And others don't be scared by my map comment or there being a lack of data in the park for phones - trails are clearly labeled by signs and at many major forks there is park staff to direct. Thanks again! read more

We rented scooters here to ride around Park Loop Road. Staff was friendly and did an excellent job teaching us how to use the bikes. Bikes worked great and were comfortable. Definitely the way to see the park!! So much fun! read more

This place has the worst management I've ever experienced. I took a moped out and ended up having it fall over. I looked around the bike to make sure it was all good. Thinking I did no damage to it. I drove it back to the place after 30 mins of the incident. Once returning I left the bike and signed on the paper and received a call from the guy named Kevin. Asking me what happened to it. I told him and preceded to tell them I was sorry and thought nothing was wrong with it. I let Kevin know he can tell me and charge my card since he had the info. I thought if anything it would be a charge of 50-100 bucks. So I went on with my day and later that evening checked my account to see how much they took out. They took out a charge of $500 and a separate charge of $752. A total of 1,252 dollars. INSANE. I was never even informed either. BECAUSE I found out they were supposedly letting me know that they were pulling this money from me. But the kicker is they were sending the email to the wrong email. They didn't have an 'e' on the end of my name in the email. So I was never even told of these transactions. They just took the money. So after I looked at my account and saw these charges, I called and called and no one answered the phone. I drive by to see Kevin and his wife standing at the counter, no customers there completely ignoring the call I was placing at the exact moment. I walked in and asked to see the damage. He showed me. Im not entirely sure what damage I even did because before I signed off and took the moped I was told by Kevin that I don't need to write down any scratches because "he's been doing this for a while" so I just signed. The moped was not damaged as bad as these people say it was. It was not damaged $1252 dollars that is for sure. They took advantage of me and of having my card information. I fought and fought with them. I asked for the list of parts over and over again until I received it 4 days after. So how exactly did they know what parts it needed and how much to charge me the day of if they couldn't even provide the parts list until days after? BS. finally when I was home from vacation they said I could have the moped considering I pretty much paid for it. My dad asked if they would be willing to work with someone if they picked it up from Facebook or be willing to stick it on a pallet for us and we'd handle the shipping back to PA. They replied a day after saying they "fixed it" and are putting it back into use. which hey if it was as much damage as they said how could it get fixed so quickly? Also they stated I could have it so I'm not exactly sure why they fixed it. I payed for that whole moped. Probably even more because it was probably some dinky china model. Overall. Learn from my mistake, don't even bother with this place. You don't think these things will happen to you, until they do. If I could give them no stars... I would. Probably even negative stars. read more

These guys are the worst. Had a friend rent from them two weeks prior and had a horrible experience. Scooters were inconsistent and getting to the top of the Cadillac Mountain with a weak scooter is worthless. Called and canceled my reservation with them and they charged me anyway. They may be the only scooter rental in the area but there are too many other cool things to do there than be stuck with lousy equipment. read more

GREAT experience here! We rented eBikes and LOVED it. The woman at the desk was great about knowing which carriage roads were open right now (there is a lot of storm damage repair still going on), and patiently explained the route into and inside the park. We saw so many people in the park on regular bikes who were miserable, but the eBike made it possible for us to get exercise and still have fun on the hills. Save your marriage... rent an eBike!! read more

Terrific bikes, outstanding and efficient service. Definitely the best rental shop on MDI.

Love this place a lot. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful with telling us where to stop by for scenic views. We originally were going to get bikes but due to the fact it was already 3:00, we decided to walk because of the time constraint. Overall, even though we did not rent bikes we knew what places to go. read more

They wouldn't let us rent a scooter (1 for two people) because I am under 5'2. I was going to ride on the back while my boyfriend drove and they wouldn't allow that "because both driver and passenger must be 5'2 or taller." This is ridiculous, I am 4'11. I understand for the driver because of being able to hold up the bike and balance at stops, etc. but I feel like it's discrimination for the passenger. We did this at the same place two years ago and had a great time and I almost got my own scooter then but didn't feel comfortable on my own. The other thing is that on their website there is NO mention of a height requirement. read more

Talk to a guy the day before we went to rent a scooter and he said a class was at 815 and now they said that we can't rent a scooter till 10 a.m. and the lady was very rude to us questioning the height of my wife right when she walked in didn't even say good morning. Absolutely horrible service I would never rent anything from these people! It's my 30th birthday what a way to start it thanks a lot Acadia Outfitters. She made us feel like we don't have enough money to rent a scooter or something, now I'm going to go rent a boat. Stay away! read more

We asked to rent scooters and the lady made it very apparent she did not want our/need our business. Proceeded to tell us all reasons why we shouldn't rent scooters. Her main reasoning was about the inherent danger involved...obviously? Meanwhile there are 10 scooters just sitting outside making it very clear they "rent scooters" Our group is still very confused about the awkward situation. Bottom line, if your looking to rent scooters don't bother going to Acadia Outfitters/ Scooter Rental Service, unfortunately they are the only scooter rental service in the area, could be a good opportunity for someone to start a scooter rental business who actually rent scooters... read more

We wanted to rent scooters during a family vacation in bar harbor. Every single employee we met (aside from the owner) was rude, incompetent, arrogant, and completely uninterested. At the end of our rental session, the man who "trained" us badgered us constantly because he thought we had stolen a key to one of the scooters. After a good while of him insisting we were thieves, he found the key in his own pocket. When visiting bar harbor, please give your business to a decent company!! read more

We stopped in Bar Harbor on a cruise we took. It was the best part of the cruise and Acadia Outfitters was the best part of the town. We were originally going to rent bikes down the street and then found out about the scooters here and decided that if we were going to make the most of the day scooters were a better option. That was the BEST decision we made. We saw the whole park and had time to actually stop and take in the sights. The owners were awesome and very helpful. They also rent Bikes and Kayaks. read more

Our day in Bar Harbor was ruined by this company because they were too lazy to take my scooter reservation over the phone. Called and left a VM for someone to call me back regarding a scooter reservation 3 days prior to arriving to BH. No return call. Called again on Fri and s/w Judy who said I would be all set to rent two scooters the next morning. I asked if I could reserve them with a credit card and she said they were closing and to just come in the next day. We went in just after opening and they did not have any scooters, nor did they reserve 2 for us under my name. I explained to Dennis that I s/w Judy and I assumed she took down my name based on our convo. She did not. Dennis said he would yell at her but could not help us. Terrible service! read more

This "scooter rental service" company refused to rent scooters to my group. The owner listed every reason not to ride a scooter, to the point where she told us we were going to break our arms and legs. She was beyond rude and very condescending. I will never go back to rent from this place, mostly because they refused to rent any of their equipment to us. Their loss, good luck staying in business! read more
