AVOID The worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I'm fortunate that, instead of coming out of my own pocket, my employer paid for me to attend an Academy Class course. One of the biggest USP's for the course was the promise that I'd be given a chance to gain a UX certification (which you can only get from a couple of course providers). However, Academy Class lost the exam papers and have been incredibly rude in dealings with me - even having the gall to say that they held up their end of the bargain as I sat the exam as promised. Totally shocking and unprofessional behaviour from a company running professional courses. Not only have they been needlessly rude, but they've completely ignored several of my emails, and have stopped replying altogether. Everyone makes mistakes, and I would be completely understanding if they had turned around and apologised for getting it wrong. What I can't believe is that their response has been to be incredibly rude, and completely ignore affected clients. All they needed to do was to be decent, apologise for the mistake and offer to refund the cost of taking the exam - but instead they've acted like complete conmen - they've completely stopped replying and I haven't received an offer of any kind of refund. read more

I went to the Android fundamentals course which was a week long and really good for getting to know the basics of the Android platform. The instructor was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful! I'm definitely considering going back to do the iPhone one! read more

Always go blank when asked to do one of these reviews. Recently completed a 3 day InDesign course at Academy Class. From the initial enquiry I found their staff to be helpful and knowledgable about the course requirements and I must admit the price of the course was very reasonable indeed. Couldn't fault the person running the course. Knew what he was talking about beause he had used this software for years, yet he was able to put us all at ease and if you had a problem he was there to go through it with you. Gave us all additional understanding of getting the best out of external printers so that was a great bit of information too. The course work covered 99% of what I felt I needed to know (the remaining 1% I had already figured out through blood, sweat and a lot of tears myself) The course notes have already come in useful and I must admit I seem to have remembered what he said during the 3 days - considering what we covered I expected to forget a fair percentage of it. I recommend Academy Class! read more

The course I took (Adobe Edge Animate) was good, had good coverage of the product studied and the staff at Academy Class was friendly and helpful makeing it a good and valuable experience. There were some trouble with some machines being a bit slow and hard to follow along on and no internet access which forced us to leave out a small section of the course where internet access was needed. But all in all a good experience. read more

I have completed a course in After Effects. The course was really well structured. Everything was set up and ready to go the moment you entered the classroom. It was well laid out with a screen between two to follow the instructor and a computer each to have a go at each section. (I was even emailed prior to the course asking which computer platform I preferred.) The instructor was keen and had excellent knowledge. He was always willing to answer any questions and to get hands on if any of the group started having problems or losing there way. The only downside was that the computers weren't the most powerful so rendering and viewing your work could be a bit tedious. All in all an excellent course, it was easy to follow and you came away believing you were able to produce decent quality work in After Effects. read more

AcademyClass's AutoCAD 301 is a shambles! The knowledge and experience to be instructing AutoCAD was not apparent in the instructor! Academy Class's instructor failed to grasp AutoCAD's basic tools, often requiring many attempts to execute correctly. During the course the instructor struggled to navigate the AutoCAD interface. Questions regarding the course content proved problematic for the instructor to answer successfully. The most appalling aspect was that throughouot the whole course the trainer often refered to YouTube! As for Academy Class itself they have no Customer service and are unable to follow their own procedures. After the initial first contact and submitting their complaints form to Academy Class's Operations Manager, Gary Appleyard in 23 September 2014 my emails and telephone calls regarding my complaint have been continuously ignored to this day. The cost of the course is £697 ex VAT, their is no support if your are unsatisfied with the course. Avoid Academy Class. read more

Being a relative amateur I did both a Premier Pro and After Effects course in Manchester and found both to be very good. Learnt so much from good teachers who had a lot of patience with us students with some who were already accomplished but needed certification and like myself, novices. Would definitely recommend to others The reason why I only gave 4* rather than 5* is that the equipment wasn't really up to scratch. The windows systems were just about ok but as a Mac user our systems were pretty old. They did the trick but there were a couple of crashes as the mice in the wheel inside couldn't keep up with the power needed, It didn't spoil the courses at all but does need looking at read more

I first came to Academy Class years ago at their previous location in Waterloo as they had a quality brand and reputation. Now they have seemed to downgrade in many ways. Their new office is much more sub standard. Rooms are too hot but too noisy to open windows. The first course I attended although good, the tutor started teaching late from talking and finished early and i think we could have fitted more content. The second Illustrator course had a fantastic tutor, i highly recommend her and maximum use of time was given. Also they started giving free fruit but have taken that away on my second course. They also provided lunch on first course but now give a £3 voucher that you cant buy a full lunch for, and you are forced to go to a poor quality cafe that i would never choose to eat at. Ive got 4 days worth of training left and who knows what else will get cut. Im disappointed in many ways, it seems they are trying to cut costs at every opportunity which is a shame as ive had to personally pay so much money for these courses. I must say the staff are all helpful and lovely. read more

I visited Academy Class to Do a Creative Suite Course for Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. The location of the venue was Central london, easy to get to via Tube and rail links. The correspondence I received before hand made it very easy to get everything organised. Course Syllabus was all provided and everything was laid out in a professional manner. Lunch was catered for, which was also a welcomed addition! The tutors (I met Two) were absolutely fantastic. They obviously have done this for some time as their structure was effortless and flowed from one topic into another seamlessly. Their knowledge of the programs, was great and what really helped was their understanding of the business world, and how what we were learning could be applied in real life. They helped us through the course, checking our understanding as we went, but also were kind enough to help us with any issues we had encountered that was of the beaten path of the course. They were very approachable and friendly and we happy to offer us tips and tricks to help us get ahead. The facilities were perfect for the course, with ample machines both PC and MAC based, air con and well lit. I would highly recommend using the Academy Class, and i look to taking on more courses in the future. A Must for those who wish to increase their skills. read more

I was extremely impressed with the InDesign 101, 201 and 301 courses that I have recently been on in Waterloo. The centre itself was very easy to find and located next to Waterloo train station. The staff were all very attentive and helpful - from pre-booking through to post course information. Adding bonuses were certificates for completing each course, free hot beverages, biscuits and sweets, and luncheon vouchers. For the 101 and 201, I was taught by Mark Gatter - a very interesting and engaging tutor. Mark has published books on InDesign and certainly knew his stuff, and went above and beyond my expectations for what I could achieve within 5 days. Mark had extensive notes and materials on the subjects covered, so I feel confident that what I learnt in the classroom can be transferred easily to my daily job with reference to these. For InDesign 301, I was taught by Nigel French. I can equally sing Nigel's praises, and similar to Mark he has published books and also tutorials. Very knowledgeable man and he was very patient and attentive when I couldn't comprehend things. The group was very small too, which is always a bonus! I would definitely go back to Academy Class again! read more

I have recently been on the CSS and HTML 5 course in Manchester. This is the second time I have been on courses with Academy Class, the first being the After Effects course in London. My After Effects course went so well, I honestly thought there would be no chance I can learn the programme in 5 days but the tutor taught us so well that I actually finished the course with a huge amount of knowledge for After Effects. I now use it every day and can create some stunning adverts thanks to Academy Class. My HTML 5 and CSS course recently in Manchester was interesting and again I did not think I will be able to learn it within 5 days, but again i was wrong, I can now create amazing web sites that are CSS driven and I am confident enough to know how it works not just how to design the web sites. I highly recommend The Academy Class for any course, you certainly get your money worth and gain the experience you need. I am hoping to return in the new year for a photoshop course. Thanks to all the staff for helping me gain more experience in a line of work I enjoy doing. Jay Curtis - Blackpool read more

I completed the HTML and JavaScript 101 yellow belt courses on separate occasions, I went into both with near to nil knowledge about these languages and I found both courses easy for a beginner to follow. Both teachers had comprehensive experience in their subjects and always made sure you understood each topic being taught at the time. The environment was relaxed which made it more inviting to ask lots of questions with around 6-8 people on each course I attended. There were also lots of opportunities to get hands on help and advice from the teachers regarding your personal or work related problems; they were more than happy to stay behind during a break to help you. Resources in the training rooms were sufficient with a computer each and also separate screens shared between two so you can easily see what the teaching is teaching. Cant recommend them enough, these courses have helped me loads with day to day work which is the reason why I went. However, if you're attending for personal development these are great courses for your money. read more

My experience at Academy Class was awesome. I'm currently in the process of changing careers and I was looking for a course that would cover the skills I need. I enrolled on the Creative License course which covers the programs of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. The course was pitched perfectly and the tutors were second to none. I learnt so much more than I thought I would and it was worth every penny. I was probably one of the few people their that was self funding my course as most people were in jobs that were paying for their development. This means I was particularly conscious of it needing to be money well spent and it really was. I now have all the tools I need to complete my portfolio and hopefully get my foot in the door at a design agency. There are so many other courses that I now want to do with Academy Class and everyone I spoke to would recommend going. I'm really looking forward to the next one whatever and whenever that may be! read more

I have had the pleasure in attending several courses in the London branch of Academy Class, and look forward to attending more in the future. No matter how large the group, each instructor is fully attentive to individual needs and ensures you all leave with the same understanding of the software packages you are their to learn. At the end of your course you are provided with a certificate of completion, and a manual on the software to assist you once you've left, not to mention the free email support and the opportunity to re-sit the course within six months if you are not entirely confident.... Facilities are fantastic, all rooms are kitted out with Macs, Pcs, graphic tablets and of course the most up to date software... Their is a breakout room with sofas and hot drinks facilities and of course a really friendly team... read more

I looked online for a training centre within the London area for AutoCAD. I come across Academy class, which i found were very reasonable and their facilities looked very up to date. I took the AutoCAD rookie 101 and AutoCAD hotshot 201 courses and it has helped my knowledge of the software massively. The instructor Ricardo was great, he was very patient with the people in the class that were struggling to keep up. All the staff at Academy class were very polite and helpful, from booking the class to gaining a certificate of completion for the course, the service they offer is first class. This has made a great addition to my CV and has opened up wider range of opportunities for the company I work for. I have also booked a 3DS Max course in the new year, so i cannot wait to see what else i have been missing. read more

I attended the zero to hero photoshop course in Manchester in December 2015. This is the second course I have attended with Academy Class, which in itself should tell you something, but the standard of delivery and content is very good and the Trainer, Ian Gilbert, was very approachable and knowledgable - answering all of my questions and giving me the opportunity to practise specific skills that I wanted to use in my own business area even if they were not intended in the syllabus. After attending the course you are given access to a suite of online tutorial videos to help you refresh your learning. The location of the office is just out of town (approx 20 minute walk from Piccadilly Station) and has very good facilities and an on-site canteen. Lunch was provided (value of £5) each day in the canteen. read more

I've attended various courses at Academy Class and have been very impressed with all of them. The tutors are very knowledgeable and communicate well, giving clear instructions, and they are great at giving post-course support! My most recent course was the Designers Fiesta 2011 (I attended the 2010 Fiesta too!). This is probably the best value for money you will EVER get on a 1-day course. The day is crammed with a choice of 1-hour sessions, so that you can pick the combination that's right for you. The tutors all have their fingers on the pulse, so you can be sure you're getting the latest information about design trends and technologies. Last year some of the sessions included hands-on experience, this year they didn't, but both were equally useful. Academy Class gets my highest recommendation! read more

I recently took the Digital Art Workshop weekend course based in London - a two day masterclass on digital painting for film and gaming. Firstly i couldn't find a course like this anywhere else so it was a real find and really pleased academy class offered this. The course was brilliant, just two of us being taugt which i was really impressed with as it felt really one-on-one and more personal. I could ask questions easily and our tutor was great, very inspiring and a great teacher. I learned a lot and got a lot out of the weekend and would definitely do many more courses wit them. I've done a lot of short courses and this was the best. We also got tea, coffee and biscuits whenever we wanted and vouchers to buy our lunch with which I just thought was a really sweet nice touch. read more

After attending the InDesign Zero to Hero course, I've learnt so much in 5 days and what's even better is I've been able to use everything I learnt in my job every day. This has made my work so much easier! From the day I booked to go on the course they emailed me all the details and let me know where I needed to be and which time. The location is close to the station and easy to get to making it a very enjoyable experience. I cannot praise my trainer enough, Mark Gatter, who is an InDesign genius! Not only did he teach us the syllabus in depth in a friendly, relaxed environment but allowed us to ask questions related to our own personal work specifications which was so helpful. I would definitely recommend Academy Class and I'm going back next month for more training! read more

After taking the 5 day Dreamweaver CS6 "Zero to Hero" ACA course in Manchester, I can honestly say that the teaching and facilities were really great. Ian, our instructor was patient and informative as well as providing information over and above the requirements of the final exam. Even when there was a technical problem during the examination on the final day, he went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everything was sorted and we could carry on with minor interruption. I came away both suitable qualified (passing the CS5 and CS6 examinations) and happy enough to recommend this company to anyone who needs training in the Adobe products. I will be returning in the near future for more training..... read more

I have just completed the Green Belt Premier Pro CS6 course and I have to say that the Academy class tutor Nigel Honey was brilliant. His patience was neverending and he made sure that all of his students knew and were confident with the software by the end of the course. I am now an Adobe Certified Associate after passing the exam which I successfully passed with flying colours thanks to the training Academy Class provided. Their instructions of how to get on there on the day were clear and concise and the staff were always tremendously helpful whenever I had a problem. If ever I need training again to help me with my profession I will make Academy Class my first port of call. read more

Academy class has state of the art facilities and combined with the highly skilled trainer Michael Nugent, these sessions have been a great learning experience. The trainer had an all-inclusive knowledge in the subject and continuously checked we had a full on understanding for every topic. The course generally had a relaxed and friendly feel, which made it easier and less stressful to ask questions with lots of opportunities for help and guidance about your individual work related complications spanning from lighting design to kitchen manufacturing! I would definitely recommend Academy Class a top training institute with no hesitation. read more

After working with 3ds Max for 2 years I thought there was nothing else to learn, how wrong could I have been. This course will give you a really good understanding of how to use 3ds Max and the different functionalities of the programme. the course was taught in a really good way and I felt I have gained a great deal from my experience. I would highly recommend this course as the location is great with good transport links (I communted from Nottingham every day) and the training facility is bright and modern with a really helpful team of staff to help you with any questions you might have. I would definately book a course here again. read more

I really won't go anywhere else for my training. The guys at Academy Class are fantastic and really do offer a great service, the tutors really do their best to go into the required depth of the course (and more) while trying to maintain a pace which suits everyone in the classes. I have always found them to be very professional and very supportive too. Their knowledge of the products is fantastic and it really comes across when sharing not only how to use the products but also about workflows and best practice when working with software. I am very much looking forward to progressing my skills with Academy Class going forward. read more

The Adobe Edge 101 Rookie training course from Academy Class was very well considered. We literally went from complete novice to interactive designers in 2 days. The lessons and references available made the course easy to follow, although the pace of it did mean that some tasks needed to be revisited in order to fully grasp the processes. However, my design team are now competent at using a package that just a few weeks ago was completely alien to them. I would recommend Academy Class to anyone looking to train a team of creatives in a short period of time, but prepare yourselves to take in a lot of information - fast! read more

I took the "Social Media Blueprint for Business" training course from www.lovesocialmedia.com, which is part of Academy Class and I highly recommend it! It is one of the most complete social media courses that I could find. It's a 3 day course that doesn't just show you how to use each social media platform, like facebook, linked in, twitter, but it teaches you how to apply these platforms and to create a comprehensive social media marketing strategy. It's also the few courses that incorporates Video marketing (youtube...)!!! The instructor was great, very experienced, knowledgeable in a very friendly environment. read more

I have just completed the HTML 101 Rookie and the CSS 101 Rookie course. I did a Dreamweaver course and took my ACA exam with Academy Class back in March this year. This course has enabled me to better understand what is going on and fix the problems as and when the arise. There was plenty of time during the three days to experiment and come up with questions that Tareq answered skillfully. The resources and websites that we wrere shown were gold in themselves, Tareq ought to write a book on where to find stuff! It is so convenient to get to, just get to Waterloo Station walk out the doors and you are there. read more

I trained with Academy Class for both the Android and iOS jump start courses and I was amazed by the expertise of their instructors. Both instructors were so up to date with the latest technologies and they had all the answers which the students asked. The iOS instructor informed us that he had been coding since he was 7 years old and that was reflected in the fact the he knew iOS, Photoshop, HTML5, PhP...the list is endless!
