Art on King have all your Art and stationary needs from paints, brushes, pens (what an artist would expect). They also have an extensive range of beautiful large sheets of paper, from delicate embossed papers to Nepalese paper. The presenter was great and really personable. He gave an overview of the session and through each stage of the presentation he made sure we all understood. Whether for a hens night, birthday, engagement or excuse to get pissed and paint it was popular. Lo and behold- the think tanks behind cork and chroma are..... Drum roll please.... From Chicago. Having left for greener pastures they set up their first studio in Brisbane and after gaining momentum have opened up in Surry Hills in I must say a beautiful location. I am a toddler painter but after fantastic instruction on the type of brush, stroke, angle, colour of paint and more I left with a full on masterpiece to hang above the fireplace!!! The instructor (Ian?) and his assistant were patient, knowledgable, friendly and professional. They offered appropriate support throughout class to all students, the talented and the struggling ones equally :) It was little talk and a lot of hands-on (90% of the time). You get to practice with as many pieces of clay as you want, but you only keep your best two, which is plenty. The shed is an extremely cool, inspiring warehouse style workshop! I recommend the class for a single person, a date night, a family or a birthday party. I'll be going back for sure.
