I landed my first feature film while studying at the Actors Pulse, thanks to everything I was being taught there and especially to Billy Milionis the founder and head teacher who coached me the whole way through. The Actors Pulse has been an immense assistance and resource during all my film work which I'm grateful for. The Actors Pulse has been a journey into the discovery of myself as an actor which has been an experience of a lifetime. This course has been invaluable as It has allowed and showed me how to bring out my uniqueness and to translate that into authentic characters and inspired performances. There is so much to this course for an actor to immerse themselves in from improvisation, living authentically in an imaginary circumstance, working moment to moment, relationship work, emotional preparation, physical/mental impediments, scene work, scene & script breakdown, character work, stage and screen acting. The course is based on doing and learning as you do and exercise each technique, it's not overly laden with the theory of acting. You learn and master all the acting layers to bring out authentic and inspired performances. The scene work is invaluable as you become proficient at breaking down scenes not only from a character point of view but also from the story point. The character work in this course was a highlight and intense, starting with physical and then mental impediments and translating them to scene work to building whole and complete characters that are organic and believable. The teachers are great who guide you through each element of the course, working and developing your skills along the way. They're committed in you getting the most out of the course and finding your uniqueness and bringing that to lively characters and scene work. There aren't words I can use to express the gratitude and respect I have for Billy Milionis the founder and head teacher of The Actors Pulse, his commitment in me being the best actor I can be is something I will always respect and have gratitude for. His teaching of the Meissner technique and acting from drama to comedy is masterful if not brilliant. All the teaching staff have all been trained in the Meissner technique who have worked and are working in the industry, they have a deep understanding and expertise of acting and the technique. Especially Mel Bonne who is one of the senior teachers who is gifted in scene and character work and an inspiration to students. What I appreciated most out of this course is that there are no free passes everything is earnt by the student as you're required to pass each element of the course before moving onto the next. At times it felt like I was knocking my head against a brick wall but once I mastered that technique I had the confidence in myself and expertise to bring that element to my acting work with ease and precision. Founded in 1997 by Billy Milionis, one of the only acting coaches in Australia to have personally studied under the great Sanford Meisner, The Actor's Pulse is an acting school specialising in the most modern version of the Meisner Technique in the country. Within our voice & movement departments our very affordable Voice & Dialect classes, private voice tutorials and movement classes allow actors to train at a high standard and progess from a beginner level to a very advance level. I've been at The Actors Pulse for half a year now, and it has truly been a transformational experience. The school empowers me to learn the Meisner technique under the guidance of dedicated teachers and use my own intuition to explore the craft. The teachers at The Actors Pulse dedicate their time to assess my work and give nuanced feedback, encouraging me to excel. The Actors Pulse has helped me grow as an actor and artist. I feel that I'm more sharp and in tune with my body and mind. My experiences at the school has help improved my listening skills making me a more receptive scene partner and I've found new ways to deepen and expand my craft. I'm relatively new to acting. The most I had ever done before I joined The Actor's Pulse was a little school drama and a 6-week beginner course when I was 15 with a school that I now realize was probably more interested in my money than bettering me as an actor. I had been looking around for reputable courses and schools for a long time before I discovered The Actor's Pulse. I've always been skeptical when trying to choose a school to enroll in. Straight away, my paranoia diminished when I met with Billy for the first time then started my Beginner Meisner classes. The Actor's Pulse is truly concerned with helping every individual develop themselves as an actor and as a person. Classes are challenging and you're constantly pushed out of your comfort zone but in the best kind of way.
