Every individual I have met at this organization is kind and compassionate, which is exactly what people who are swimming in debt need. Originally funded by the Government of Alberta Money Mentors is the only organization that can set up an OPD (orderly payment of debt) program for you which consolidates all your debts and comes up with a payment plan for you so that you don't have to declare bankruptcy. Coaching people with their money is something I would love to get into as a career and I'm happy to announce that Money Mentors is making steps into the community. This means educating young people so that they don't end up in situations where their debt is over-whelming. Money Mentors in Edmonton now has extended hours which gives flexibility to a variety of individuals and they also offer one free financial fitness class a month which focuses on setting you up for a strong financial future. Got a loan out with them in 2018 and it is supposed to be complete in November this year (2023). My…read moreloan was for $3500 plus their extremely high $800 fee. I have currently paid over $6000 over the 4.5 years towards my loan and I had cancer during it. I had late payments due to cancer but I'm totally up to date with my payments. Got a message from their legal department out of the blue thinking I had about less than $1000 of the loan left since it is up in November but they are coming after me and saying I owe another $5500. They are saying I have several missed payments which is a $98 NSF charge which your NSF charges can't be higher than the payment amount according to the law and in Alberta the max NSF charge they can charge is $25. So they are doing extremely shady and illegal practices. I currently have a lawyer and contacting all of the regulatory boards that are associated with loan companies. These people are scam artists and prey on people that are going through tough times. Do not use these people.

Bad bad bad bad bad!!!!! Had to send dozens of emails to get them to stop calling me, but I still…read moregot called so I changed my number! THEN THEY CONTACT MY NEW PHONE NUMBER!! So, I send a dozen more emails saying you need to stop calling me but i will only give my new number if you actually contact the creditor to tell them they had the wrong number, so that the creditor stops giving out my number!!! They said they contacted them but i have no proof that they actually did contact them. And with my past two years of experience with being the wrong number at collection agencies, I'll probably get more calls in a few weeks! We'll see...
