When I was dealing with trying to sell my parents home I didn't know how I was going to tackle a house that had 60+ years of accumulation in it. John and his workers came in and packed everything, and had it all gone in less than 3 days.. It would have taken me literally months! Went to an Aspen Estate Sales sale on the first day and saw a piece of jewelry I liked. Overheard…read moresomeone say, "on last day of the sale everything goes to 50% off". Went back on the last day of the sale - the piece of jewelry I wanted was still there but for only 10% off. I asked if that was the best price they could do and Mrs Aspen Estate Sale said, "yes". I agreed to the price and was ready to buy. In the mean time, I hear people asking for further discounts on clothes and furniture and price was granted by seller. I also had a small piece of silver to purchase, so I asked Mrs Aspen if she could deal on that and she said, "everything is already 50% off!" I said, I just heard people dealing further and she said, "on what?!" I said, on clothes and furniture and she said, "that's on clothes and furniture!!" I said "well, if you don't ask, you will never know." She immediately got defensive and told me, "DON'T TELL ME HOW TO RUN MY BUSINESS! BLAH BLAH BLAH!!" I was taken-aback. Then, she asked Mr Aspen to escort me out! He proceeded to continue down that path with me outside and I said, "Look, she's your wife and out of respect for that, I will not comment about Mrs Aspen." At that point, he offered to go back in and see if she would consider selling to me, but the experience was so completely tainted, that I did not want to associate that with the piece, so I bowed out. It never hurts to ask, as my mother always said, and I'm sure sellers get sick and tired of buyers wanting a better deal, but it's the LAST day of the estate sale. Good business is being courteous and this was NOT good business. I'm still unsure of what I did wrong and why I was treated so poorly in front of other customers. I will never do business with Aspen Estate Sales again. I still don't have any idea why she went off on me. I don't think I ever will.

Owners and staff are quite friendly and helpful. Others have complained of incorrect charges. One thing you need to do on estate sale items is inventory your purchases to make sure you are charged correctly. We have had a couple of cases where things did not add up and we pointed this out and issues were corrected promptly.

If you want someone to run an estate sale in an ethical or sustainable way, or heck, just run one in a way that won't make all the neighbors sad or mad, or hey even just treat neighbor kids with some kindness/decency like maybe they are people... look elsewhere.
