ABU Games definitely knows how to cater to gamers. Their new location in an old gym provides an immense amount of retail, gaming, and convention areas. The main retail space will have many of the most up to date games and in the play area I've found more games that were harder to find. I generally go on Friday night and they have several different rooms catering to Magic the Gathering, Table Top, MTG Commander, and some DND games in the further back rooms. I have made three orders over 20 cards at ABU, and in every case they have messed up my order, ripped me of for a higher value card on the list, and in my mist recent ripped me off for half the value of the order and refused to replace, or in any way assist me. My son and I arrived in Boise and discovered there was a Thursday night MTG draft at this store. Not knowing much else we headed over. We immediately noticed it had a huge (and mostly full) parking lot. When we got into the store there was a lot of energy and tons of gaming going on. Draft is $14 per player, no participation pack, but one pack per win and 5 packs for 3-0. We had 20 minutes before draft time and wandered around. The place is a warehouse plus a basketball court plus more space. It seems to go on forever. I learned they routinely get 90-100 players for a pre release weekend. The draft itself was great. There is lots of room and there were two pods. The players were very good and so while I didn't win much, I learned a lot. After my 3rd round an experienced player sat down and reviewed my deck, giving me some tips. Turns out he competes in GPs and has some pretty good placements. I learned a few of the other guys were In the same boat, but you wouldn't know it - everyone was really friendly. They have their own card sleeves and a lot of unique items. All in all, we had a great te and we will be back ASAP. I wish they had other drafts, but Thursday night at 7 is the only one. All in all, I couldn't ask for better. read more

dishonest staff and manager. They have lied to me and my brother multiple times about items and orders. I even made them terrain for war games, went into the shop to play games with it some time later and it was gone. my brother asked where it went and they told him that it was part of the person that made its "private collection" and they took it back home. Just be honest you don't need to make up a lie. Not the first. they might be the biggest shop in town but theres better shops that look after their customers. read more

Absolutely huge selection of games. All the new hot games are here also. They have selections in Kickstarter editions. Great if you missed the campaign for that game you really wanted the stretch goals for. Friendly staff make the experience a great one. So happy I found this store. ABU is a great FLGS. They always great you when you enter and I have almost always had one of the staff follow up with a "may I help you find something or may I make a recommendation." I shop for board games so this is aimed at board games and not the magic the gathering. Their prices are the best in town and most everything is under retail price. If they don't have something they are happy to order it in and it generally is in by Tuesday. Great selection of games. Of the selections. In town I feel their selection of games are better games overall. They do not have the most games in town, but I feel safe telling a friend to go to ABU to pick out a game without specific recommendations because they do not just order everything under the sun and have it stuck on their shelf like some of the other game stores. read more

This is a review as someone who plays board games and paints miniatures. This is a huge shop with some of the best prices in town. The selection of games is great. No Privateer Press miniatures or Malifaux and their GW is only some new stuff (though I am sure you can order through the shop). Their X-Wing selection is huge. The board game selection is big and literally wraps around the shop. Can be a bit intimidating checking out the games in the section where games are being played but it can be fun to watch other games being played. The staff is helpful but can seem absent since the shop is so huge. Lots of room to play games and meet up with folks to play. read more

I have made 3 purchases with Abugames now, and 2 out of the 3 of them went perfectly. On the 3rd purchase, they simple forgot to include one of the cards I purchased in the order. When I emailed them to inform them of the mistake, I got a message not even 15 minutes later apologizing for the mistake and offering to send out the card free of charge immediately. I decided to pick up a few more cards, and they bundled them all together and shipped them at no cost, as promised. Couldn't ask for the correction to have gone any better. Each time I have ordered from them was late on a Sunday night. Each package shipped out Monday and arrived only 2 days later on Wednesday with the basic shipping option. This alone really pleases me, as I usually play between Wednesday and Friday, and have been able to have my new cards for each event (minus the mix up of course, which also arrived only 2 days after being shipped.) I find that they have great prices on uncommons/rares, which is awesome. The commons are a bit more expensive than you might find on other websites, but so far the price difference between the rarities has worked out in my favor in almost every instance. Another huge plus is their MASSIVE inventory. Many places I go often times don't have a card or two I am looking for - I have yet to have that issue with them. Their collection is truly gigantic. One very minor criticism would be that for 2 out of 3 of the times I have had to call to request a tracking number for the package. A painless process, as the staff is always chill, but as a night shift worker in a different part of the country my hours often don't line up with theirs. I do believe the first time I ordered I was sent the tracking automatically, so perhaps they have simply been having trouble with their automated system. Overall: From my experience so far, I have no issue purchasing from them and will likely use them for many future purchases. read more

The best gaming joint I've ever seen. Though it's on the other side of town, I come here a lot. the card and game selection is better than anyone else locally, and the store is HUGE, with plenty of space and different rooms if you prefer not to play your games next to 50 other people. It's also clean and well organized. I help with Extra Life here every year, because if I'm going to spend 24 hours playing D&D, this is where I want to do it. read more

I have never written a review on YELP, but recently placed and order with Abu Games that was canceled and I feel that I should tell others about. I understand that magic prices change fast these days. After some recent news, on a saturday night, I decided to sell some cards to Abu games. I used their site to sell cards midday on Sunday morning. The cards were approved through system and as i was instructed to package my cards in a certain way and send them with in 2 days. So I did just that, packaged neatly and ready go the post office on the next business day. I woke up the next day (monday) to an email stating that my sale was canceled. They were no longer buying my cards at that price and would not honor our deal. This is simply bait and switch pricing. I was told they would go broke if the honored all the buylist they got that morning on the cards I was selling. Their system is set up to accept a certain amount of cards to buy in at a certain price and then seemingly stop buying the cards once they have achieved that quota. Worse yet, they are still buying the same cards I was selling at a reduced amount. As a matter of fact at the time of this review they claim to buying 50 copies! This change only affected half of my total buy order. The other cards on my list remained unchanged in their system. Why should my whole order be canceled? The fact is they decided to take the money they were going to spend on my cards, and continue to buy the same cards at a lesser rate. I respect a business's right to spend their money as they please, but in this case Abu Games decided to put their bottom line ahead of their customer base. I have never sold to them before and i certainly will not after this experience. I guess I'll just stick to selling to Card Kingdom who honored their prices in a similar situation last year and clearly put their customer base first over profit maximization. read more

This company is run by scammers and will likely swindle you out of your money. I was programming a new website for ABU games and the CTO Adam Fuhriman refused to pay me for the work that I completed and he agreed to. I tried to collect even a fraction of what they owed me and I was ignored. They had no reason to pay me, because our contract was hourly and he agreed to pay the hours and I've never had this issue with similar work before. If they're willing to scam a small business owner out of hundreds of dollars for honest, agreed upon work, they're definitely willing to scam you out of money too. read more

Me and my wife are just starting to get in to board games and we stopped by to grab a specific game but the variety and selection was so big we walked out with something completely different. Huge selection and friendly knowledgeable staff that can help you pick a game that caters to what style you want. Well to start I have ordered from most if not all of the big name online retailers for Magic: The Gathering cards. ABUGames have the biggest selection and some of the cheapest prices I've seen. To top it off I ordered the cards on a Tuesday morning with standard shipping and they arrived on the following Thursday within 48 hours. My order was processed and shipped within hours. They are hands down my new first stop for ordering cards. I couldn't be happier with the customer service and speed they operate with. If I could recommend one thing they could improve it would simply be the UI on their web page which seems slightly cluttered and out of date compared to modern storefronts. read more

I sold Magic cards to them via their website (I know you can typically get more selling them individually but I just wanted to sell them in bulk). I assumed most would be rated extremely low (practically all had been played) but they gave me a great deal, rating most Near Mint so I netted more on the sale than I thought I would. Would recommend to anyone looking to sell easy and fast. One random note: When I went to the post office they insisted 83709 is linked to Garden City not Boise. I called and they explained Garden City is within Boise, so either one will get the package delivered to the correct location. But depending on what post office you use, you might run into some weird snafu like I did. read more

Great company, the employees are very fair and welcoming so long as you aren't an ass. I read Stephens review and asked around in store, come to find out he's only telling half the story and making himself look good in it. Regardless, ABU may not always have the cheapest cards, but when they say you are buying M-NM card, it's a guarantee on that grade. They take great strides, even at occasional losses to themselves, to make sure their customers are well taken care of. read more

These guys are the best! They have amazing customer service. Every time I walk through the door I am greeted like an old friend. Whenever I have questions, even hard to answer ones, they take the time to help me figure it out. I once went in looking for a board game as a birthday gift but wasn't sure what to get, an employee spent over 25 minutes walking through the store with me, making suggestions. They are very knowledgeable about the games they have available, they make great suggestions and they give honest opinions. read more
