My dog loved the A Pup Above. My husband got there around 9:40am and the doors were already open. The staff member was nice and rang up our $80+ purchase. The next week I walked into the store same time same products. This time, a different staff member told me that they did not open for 15 minutes. She told me to put all my products back. No offer to hold them, no offer to sell me the $80 worth of products. I even had cookies in a "bag your cookies" package. She told me to put everything back. I don't know why she would treat me this way when just the week prior the other staff member was happy to sell my husband the products. I don't want to assume that it's because i was "ethnic" BUT why would you deny selling me products. As I returned the merchandise, there was no apology for asking me to come in 15 minutes. There was no offer to help me put the products back. She just stood there staring at me while I put everything back. I ended up buying my products directly from the manufacturer who also gave me a discount. I don't recommend shopping here unless you are sure they will sell to you.

My husband and I entered the store without masks. We did not see the small green note on the front door saying they required masks. We entered, got the food, stood at the register counter and petted the store cat while she rang up another customer. She obviously saw that we did not have masks on from the moment she made eye contact with us upon entering the store and while we stood in front of her at the counter, but after she finished ringing up the other customer, the customer was walking out of the store and he made a comment about wanting to hurry up to get home to watch the Trump rally. My husband and I laughed and I simply replied back to him saying that I didn't know Trump had a rally that day and I asked him were it was being held. Then immediately the woman working said in a very derogatory and rude tone, "WE DON'T TALK POLITICS IN THIS STORE!". First of all, we were not "talking politics". It was a very quick few sentence conversation about the rally being on and where it was being held, THAT WAS IT! Her remark and ignorant tone totally caught us off-guard. My husband immediately left the store as he did not want to continue with our purchase, then she quickly looks at me and in her continued rude and derogatory tone she asks me, "ARE YOU VACCINATED???". I made a curt reply and answered her, which I should have just ignored, then she starts to argue with me. The discrimination part is due to the fact that she only asked me about being vaccinated and not wearing a mask AFTER the brief conversation with the other customer mentioning Trump. She saw us walk in without masks on and we stood in front of her at the counter for a few minutes. She saw that we didn't have masks on yet she never said anything to us until after Trump's name was mentioned. It was quite obvious by her quick frustration and ignorant demeanor what prompted her rude attitude and questioning towards me. There is no denying it. I started to argue back but then I just wanted to get my dogs their food and get out of there. We were on vacation and purposely did not pack dog food since we knew we could get it there, otherwise I would have walked out without giving her my business. I don't care what political party you support, this type of ignorant attitude, unnecessary questioning and rudeness was ridiculous and uncalled for. This is not how you treat customers. It's unfortunate! When we return to the OBX we will be sure to never give them our business again! I have a feeling that she may have also lost future business from the other customer too.

Upon leaving this review, I was also contacted by Meghan who, once again, made empty promises of a refund only to later be blocked from her page on the day of agreed meeting. After reading the positive reviews, we were so excited to hire Meghan to train our new puppy. After discussing our goals, availability, and making plans to move forward, we paid and anxiously awaited her arrival the following Sunday. On Saturday evening she asked if we were comfortable with the anticipated windy Sunday or if we wanted to reschedule. We were not worried about the wind as we would be indoors for the introduction / first session. Unfortunately, Meghan never replied to the conversation to confirm or deny the appointment. We waited for her arrival but she never showed. After the appointment time had passed, we reached out to her in hopes of setting another appointment in upcoming week. She was very short with the conversation left us wondering what to expect as she stopped replying until we reached out AGAIN for confirmation. The next appointment scheduled for the next day at 1:30pm. At 12:36, Meghan texted and said she would be late. She asked again if we wanted to reschedule, we said we wanted to continue with the appointment and would work around other plans due to her late arrival. Once Meghan finally arrived, she showed potential as she worked with our puppy and educated us on training techniques, however, she also seemed very distracted in her cell phone. At the end of the appointment we talked about the process of filing papers to provide our dog with the type of training we purchased, she talked about her puppy classes and invited us to join, and she offered to email material for training. We know life can be unpredictable and decided to disregarded her previous unprofessionalism and happily scheduled our next visit. The day of our scheduled appointment came and Meghan didn't show. We reached out to ask if she was still coming and she attempted to reschedule. The availability we agreed on upon hiring Meghan was very clear due to work and our child's health conditions that required many doctor appointments. We expressed our willingness to wait if she needed to come later than scheduled as we weren't available again that week. Meghan didn't show up, again. By this point we were three weeks in and had only one completed session that Meghan suggested to reschedule and arrived late. The lack of effective communication, accountability, and effort took its toll as our puppy was growing bigger (we emphasized the importance and urgency of her training to accomplish safe behaviors around our disabled child) and we were constantly being let down. We told Meghan we wanted to cancel her "services" and refunded. She was defensive and referred to the contract that stated a refund would take up to 14 business days. We are currently on 22 |business days| and have not yet received a refund. We asked for a confirmation or ANYTHING showing that it is being processed, however Meghan continues to give reasons why it hasn't gone through or simply ignores us. I'd give negative stars if it were an option. She will also contact you upon leaving a review of your experiences and not only yell at you but threaten to take you to court.

We found Dory through recommendations by friends and started working with her with private lessons. For us, this was the best way to begin. Dory did a GREAT job training Stitch and me on how to be a better dog and dog person. After we completed our private lessons, she invited us to observe one of her group classes. After his initial vocalizations, I applied the techniques Dory taught me to get him to settle down. In no time he was quietly sitting and watching, and NOT barking. Near the end of her class, she invited me to walk Stitch around the group and NOTHING! We were ALL amazed! I'm looking forward to continue OUR training with Dory by taking her group classes. That made all the difference in how Molly got comfortable in the new environment. On the ride there she was antsy and scared in the car. On the way home she was relaxed and happy. That alone was a huge WIN on day one! I can't wait to see what comes with our next lessons. They were very knowledgeable and very pleasant. Based on our observations, I would recommend zoom room for groups and group training. But unfortunately I wouldn't recommend private lessons. Our new rescue puppy did have some temperament issues and they said that private would be better place to start. The only training that was offered was click training. It's a very methodical approach that takes a lot of time and patience. The trainer was very well-versed in this method but the bottom line is that one type of traing doesn't fit all. This was the only method that was offered. They didn't give us the handouts in the beginning, which would've greatly assisted us assimilating the rules and expectations of click training. They gave it to us after three sessions and we paid for four 30 minute sessions. This sessions were conducted in the main room of the facility. Unfortunately, we could hear clicking sounds from people waiting for the next group lesson which totally threw off our dog's training and was an expensive waste of precious of time. So I would definitely not recommend private training at this facility - especially at $75 for 30 minutes! On a personal note, we eventually solved the problem by having our dog visit daycare on a regular basis. Our rescue puppy simply needed exposure to other dogs and a whole lot of TLC!

They had a fight in the morning and a second one in the evening. The dogs were left unattended, together during day play. The "handlers" apparently blew the airhorns to get the other dog to stop attacking my dog, that didn't work so then ran to get Adam. What if he wasn't there? My dog would probably not be here today. My dog and the other dog were put back together later the same day, which does not make any sense to anyone with a functioning brain. I didn't know the extent of my dogs injuries due to the attack. Adam tried to negotiate with me to pay the vet bill from his vet even before me being able to see my dog. MY DOG GOT ATTACKED DUE TO YOUR NEGLIGENCE. He offered to give me a free week if I paid $500-600 for the vet bill. Just goes to show you how absolutely money hungry he is and what he's willing to put at risk ( YOUR DOG). I took my dog to our regular vet that Thursday and he had to have 2 drains surgically put into his leg to let it drain and keep swelling down. Not once did Adam apologize for what happened. Not once did he express any compassion or sympathy. That's when I realized it's all just money for him. You and your dog are just another dollar sign to him. This is just a warning for those of you thinking of coming here. He hires people off the street who have 0 dog training or experience with handling dogs to work for him. He is an extremely rough handler, i've watched him myself. The things that are done to your dog when no one is watching makes my blood boil. Please think twice about what may happen to your pup while in their care. My dog paid the price, don't let yours also. We've had a long 3 years of recovery for my dog to be able to trust other people and dogs again. He will never be the dog that he was before because of Adam and Obedient Paws. What was once an energizer bunny is now a chill and cuddly K-9. I don't know what magic they did to my dog but I highly recommend bringing your puppy here!! I truly wish I didn't spend all my money on another training business because I would've loved for Levi to do their day training program. From my first conversation, this decision was never met with an issue in our communications which was my reason for moving forward with training my pup with this fabulous duo. There was great communication, and lots of post regarding my Odin's progress between in person visits. My wants in training were clearly defined, discussed and implemented over his in-stay with the facility. I had some reservations with my tiny 3lb spoiled puppy with his paw lotion, eye wipes and holiday themed attire amongst giant working dogs at first; but it was shortly deemed irrelevant as he decided he was just a big dog in disguise disputing my attempts otherwise lol! I was referred to Wild Child from our local PetSmart. I inquired through email for their Stay and Train program as I wanted my dog to be boarded but also not forget his training or pick up bad habits. My dog stayed here for 5 days. I obsessively stalked their Instagram for updates as they post cute videos of my dog once a day. I can tell he was well taken care of and so happy to be there. Upon pickup, I felt like my dog was a new boy! They worked on him with door manners and he doesn't bolt out the door. My other concern was jumping on people. We passed by a man and my dog actually sat down right in front of him and got lots of pets! I was so impressed!! My dog also seemed more relaxed. He was a hyper furball who needed to be up and running 24/7 before I dropped him off at Wild Child. Now he's okay with laying down and chilling. He is also fine with taking naps in his crate now! He used to bark for hours on end when I crate him during the day. I can't wait to take him back. My dog seemed very sad to leave this facility and I'm sure he would be so thrilled to return.
