This restaurant is relatively new, but the name has been familiar for years. In Elizabethtown KY, it started as a small place that sold over the counter and added a few choices that were made ready to eat at 2 tables or take home 16 oz gumbo or jambalaya. They get their seafood from the Gulf shores every week. They sell fresh fish and shrimp and more. Now they have moved to a much larger venue with plenty of tables and a larger menu. The last time I got the fried catfish and my wife got the white fish dinner with fries and coleslaw. Both were delicious. And I asked for Gumbo to go. Highly recommend. read more

We saw a TikTok video about this place and we love seafood so we thought we drive to ETown and check it out and we are so glad that we did. The girl that waited on us was very helpful and helped us decide on what we wanted. The King Crab legs are so big and cooked to perfection but my favorite part of the meal was the royal red shrimp. They taste just like sweet crab to me. The staff is super friendly and the food is excellent! We will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I have shopped here before as we readied ourselves for an Italian Christmas Eve Feast of the Seven Fish. We got squid, fish and shrimp from AB. All great. I was looking this weekend for jumbo shrimp and canned crab. Sadly they didn't have either. BUT they did have fresh steamed crawfish so I bought a couple of pounds for the heck of it. They came cold so I put them in a steamer for a few minutes and dang, they were so good! They were really clean and well seasoned. The crawfish were large and meaty and so spicy! The store had people shuttling the orders it the car, with this corona virus the only suggestion I have to wear a mask and gloves. Loved them! read more

Let me tell you about ABSeafood,great products,good people. They will certainly recognize us when they see the name Peggy Shields. Really good friend of ours and have bought a lot of seafood from them. The last time they came to Morehead, they hadn't brought the shucked oysters we had ordered. What did they do? They gave us 5 lbs. of redfish filets for free. That's the kind of people you're dealing with when you deal with these people. They didn't have to do that,but they did. That's why I'm encouraging everyone to support these guys every time they come close to your area. That's what this country is about. I missed them in Mt. Sterling this past weekend but luckily I had a little in the freezer vacuum packed. Looking forward to them coming around soon. If you can,support these guys! Yeah people say,oh that stuff is too high. We'll go to a restaurant and buy it. It's probably been frozen for 6 months and comes from God knows where in Asia and out of the most polluted water on the planet! The Grocers around here have nowhere near the quality that these people have and it's a helluva lot higher at the stores. Perfectly cooked to eat in, perfectly fresh to take home. We did both. Not over-cooked, not over-seasoned, not frozen - perfect. And not a speck of sand in our shoes, but plenty of freshness for the future! Such a variety, too, from fins to shells to scales with some sausage thrown in. I absolutely LOVE ABSeafood! It's a company owned and operated by fishermen from the Gulf Coast. They come up to N. KY with fresh seafood once a month. They deliver to 10-12 locations throughout KY, plus TN and S. IN. They also have restaurant/store locations in Elizabethtown and Paducah, KY. The royal red shrimp have to be some of the best shrimp we've ever had. They're large and sweet. The pint of oysters were fresh shucked and clean tasting, and the BIGGEST we've ever encountered. They were seriously the size of the palm of my hand! The oysters were also gigantic, and so delicious. You can definitely tell that the seafood was fresh caught, and shipped up within a couple days. It's like you're actually eating on the Gulf itself when you buy from ABSeafood. I've had too many bad experiences with grocery store seafood. A taste from hundreds of miles away is just minutes down I-65. The drive to Elizabethtown from Louisville for fresh seafood from the Gulf is soooo worth it. The building is very unassuming, but it's so clean and the fishermen behind the counter are very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. I got the fried grouper plate, which comes with two hush puppies (small and sweet with bits of actual corn) and well-seasoned, crinkle-cut fries. My husband got the boiled shrimp plate, which comes with a corn-on-the-cob, sausage, and potato-- spiced with a subtle kick. And to make the mini-road trip really worth it, we also got fried jumbo shrimp, fried gator, and seafood gumbo. We basically made our own sample platters! All of that for under $40, which I think is more than reasonable for fresh seafood. I honestly cannot tell you which was best between the fried shrimp and the boiled shrimp-- both were fantastic! And it even came down to rock-paper-scissors between my husband and me when it got down to the last few bites of our feast. This was also my first time trying gator chunks, and I was pleasantly surprised! No-- I don't think it tastes like chicken but a more meaty squid? Either way, good seasoning on their batter definitely helped me get past the alligator meat thing! There is also housemade "seafood sauce" and other condiments to eat with your meal, but honestly you won't need it. And the best part about the gumbo is the crab claws in it! This meal was definitely a treat, and I already can't wait to go back. We took 2lbs of jumbo shrimp to take home with us, at $13.99 a pound. I can't wait to put it in the pot. It's like having Alabama in your backyard. They take pre-orders, too. When it gets warm, I have grand plans to grab a lot of live blue crab from AB Seafood! read more

The came to Lagrange on 8/3/2018 with their trailer and set up from 3-6. $282 later I had bought king crab, shrimp, sea trout, crab cakes, boudin and even tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. They advertise their locations on Facebook and you can pre-order through there, however, I just showed up and ordered from their board. I froze everything but the king crab and royal red shrimp. Both were amazing and I cannot recommend enough. Take a chance if they come to your town. The seafood was fresh and they have unique items like alligator chunks even. read more

If you're looking for good, reasonably priced seafood in Kentucky this is the place. You can order the food cooked there for you or buy it to cook at home. We had the fried shrimp, oysters, grouper and gator. We also had the snow crab, crawfish and sausage. It was all cooked well and tasted great. The restaurant itself used to be the old Dairy Queen and is nothing fancy but it is clean and laid back. The service is friendly and fast. Prices are pretty good too. We went as a group of ten and ate more than we should have and for less than $150. read more

I had the gator chunks. I highly recommend them. Food and service were fantastic. Extremely fresh ( and on ice ), seafood. Red snapper and flounder and tons of shrimp in the showcase. But it does vary depending on what's caught that day. The scallops I got were BIG. Some frozen, unique, selections available also. Lots of room for eating in. We enjoyed a delicious meal of crab patties, fish, slaw and fries! The patties actually tasted like crab with just a hint of "ting" from the Cajun seasoning. The prices were very reasonable. They also gave us samples of what was cooking that day. Very friendly and helpful staff. The jumbo shrimp, flounder, crab cakes (came in a pint container) have all been delicious and the cost was more than reasonable for fresh seafood. They even provided all the ice and loaded my seafood order into my cooler. Awesome place! read more
