I ordered the American hottest pizza, which was of the biggest and supposedly spiciest pizzas on the menu. It was quite large but not overly hot if I'm honest. It was still pretty nice though. The rest of my group included 2 vegetarians, a celiac and someone who hates cheese, all of who were carted for nicely. The staff dealt with our group pretty well, despite a few awkward requests. For those of you who don't know, I work for the NUS which meant we all have NUS extra cards. So yeah, a decent but not amazing experience but given on the day we qualified for 40% off, I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.

We were offered a Fixed Price menu as well as the Å la Carte, I also noticed on their website that they have a 'Bambini' menu for their younger guests and a lunch menu. We ordered draught Peroni whilst perusing the menus which are quite large. It was noted that we could have ordered EVERYTHING! Finally though we settled on; Ribs in BBQ sauce, Gambaretti, Aubergine Parcel and a Caprese Salad to start followed by a Marinara Pizza, Chicken Rostico, Cod with Chilli & Sesame Crust and a Salmon & Puy Lentil Salad. All of the food was delicious and portions were generous. The ribs for instance could easily have been a main course with a bowl of chips! My nearest and dearest was a little disappointed with the amount of lentils in the Salmon salad but the kitchen quickly provided a small bowl of additional pulses on request. I don't normally order pizza in a restaurant but I was reassured that their pizzas are stone cooked and it was very enjoyable with a good quantity of quality seafood. The banquet was accompanied by a fabulous Pinot Grigio at a reasonable price. I thought it would be rude to order our favourite Chablis in an Italian restaurant - hehe! A thoroughly enjoyable meal was appreciated by all four of us and with our bellies full we headed for Fresh in Wood Street which is fast becoming our favourite bar in town. They did seem a little understaffed with only one staff member working the floor, and one in the kitchen but it was during the day and it wasn't too busy, my server seemed really friendly and while he was busy and a lot to do, he still gave service with a smile and tried his best which is good. I ordered a gluten-free Pollo ad Astra pizza which comes with chicken, sweet peppers, cheese, garlic oil and red onions and I did pretty much enjoy it, while I didn't like the sweet and spicy combination of the peppers, the chicken was cooked perfectly, and seasoned well with the garlic oil which really enhanced the dish. The pizza base was really thin and parts of it, especially the edges I just couldn't manage to eat, this does seem to be common with many thin gluten-free pizza bases, possibly down to the fact they use frozen bases as this is the only way to minimise cross-contamination and to make sure they avoid waste as gluten-free isn't too popular, but compared to many other chains Italian, this is a pretty good pizza. Many discounts available Sunday-Thursday to get your hands on, if you're coming here (especially during the week), it'd be pretty stupid to pay full price as they always have promotions whether that be discounts for NHS/students or other key workers or via their website or similar discount schemes (my personal favourite VoucherCodes) It is surely one of the better places to eat in Macclesfield, and certainly a nice brand to have in a small town and a location I will be returning to. 4*
