I…read moreusually do not write negative reviews for anyone but in this instance, I feel it my duty to warn other consumers. Roselle Shoe Repair gave me an extremely difficult time and did not refund my money until after (1) I left and came back with a police officer and (2) the cobbler removed the two elastics from my sling-backs without restoring the original elastics. So I now have a pair of un-usable sling-back heels with their slings disconnected. I should have never agreed to him taking them out without replacing the original elastics, but I am not the best at making deals under stress and I tend to concede very quickly. The cobbler refused to show his face to me and had a woman cover for him. An Old-World craftsman would have seen the poor work and just refunded my money. A true Old-World craftsman from Italy or Spain or a made in America craftsman would have never let such poor work pass to a customer. Detail shows the talent or lack thereof. Warning: I always try to pay cash to small businesses but no more. My advice is to pay by credit card. If you end having to dispute, the credit card company will always side with the customer unless there is blatant foul play by the customer. I had to add a star to post a review otherwise I would not have starred any.

That tells you how much they know about shoes (European shoes are not glued together) I had brought them in before and the old owner was the one that told me he would sew them for them to last longer. My other shoes didn't fix with glue as I waited. Would never come back. The glue is already separating! For glue, this guy charged me $36.00, It's already coming separating.

I dropped them off and…read morereturned the next day only to find Ben's Shoe Repair had damaged my boots to the point I had to throw them out. When I politely asked the older man working there what happened to my boots pointing out the green/yellow color now on the boots and asking why was the back ripped as I didn't have these rips before when I dropped them off. He quickly became very nasty. He said he only put lifts and doesn't know what I'm talking about. An older woman appearing to be his wife walks in and she too becomes very nasty telling me to not come back and to leave. Are you seriously treating a customer like this?! I asked a question nicely which is my right especially in light of the damage. This man and woman immediately became nasty and rude. I'm a paying customer whose boots were damaged by their shop yet they are angry! The lack of care and the way she told me to leave I saw pure evil in both of them. Why become so nasty and defensive unless you're guilty of something. I remained composed and polite despite the way they spoke to me! I know and they know they damaged my boots. My boots were not looking like this when I dropped them off less than 24 hours before I picked them up, to now see excessive wrinkles in the leather, green/yellow polish smeared on the boots and rips in the exact same spots on the back of each boot which points to some type of machine ripping off the leather. They didn't once try and rectify the situation or even admit what they did or apologize. Only guilty people become defensive when asked a question. I know, they know, and God knows what they did. I unfortunately had to throw my favorite boots away because of the damage they did to the boots, and to think I paid money to them, only to get boots back looking like this! If you go there I recommend taking pictures and video before you give them any of your shoes! I wish I had taken photos/video of my boots before because then I could take them to court and report them to the local news for what they did! I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had this experience with this shop. Pure evil people. However, it's in God's hands as he's all seeing.

The work was done while I waited, turning what should have been a quick pickup into a frustrating delay. The sandals were handed back tacky, with paint splotches on the soles and sides of the shoe that I had to point out and ask them to clean off. The final result was mediocre and clearly rushed. When I politely requested a discount for the delay and quality issues, the owner made defensive personal excuses about her livelihood, dismissing my concerns and making the interaction uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the staff then spoke negatively about me in Spanish right in front of me, apparently assuming I didn't understand. They eventually granted a very small (5%) discount, but given the lack of professionalism, rushed quality, and disrespect, I will not be returning.

In my room lay a leather wristlet which remained unused for a year because I prefer a shoulder strap, but then I recently thought to bring it to Ace since I've seen luggage being repaired at the shop. I noticed the leather tassel decoration on the wristlet and advised the owner that he could manipulate the extra leather decoration to fashion into a longer strap. After examining the wristlet and listening to my suggestions, the owner was able to provide a solution. The finished product has enabled me to finally make use of the gift given to me awhile ago.
