The grounds are well kept, there is plenty of parking, and most of the staff is very compassionate and friendly. I will mention that one receptionist in particular was very rude to my mother when we arrived. My Mom began to make her way toward the service we were attending and the woman at the front desk was very snippy with my Mom and told her not to go near the room where the service was being held. She said "It's not ready yet, the family is still setting up!!" My mom asked if she could just sit on the chairs outside the chapel and wait for them to finish setting up, the lady said "NO" with lots of attitude and frustration. I was completely beside myself on that type of behavior! So we sat in the front lobby on the chairs provided. There are 4 chairs in the main lobby, which suited our needs. Just when I thought I had already seen it all, the same woman gets up from her desk and storms over to the chapel area where the service would be held.... Muttering under her breath, walking briskly, and pulls the doors closed... Then continues back to her desk to sit down. I'm not sure if this is her normal behavior, but it could be argued that her personality type doesn't exactly jive with the typical crowd that attend a funeral home.... They also offer water bottles to guests & have a snack machine in the lobby. There are several rooms available for funeral services, which are spacious and comfortable. I will say that I was surprised to see that the pews are not bolted into the floor... I used the back of the pew to help myself up after a service & it disturbed the bench in front of me... That was embarrassing. All in all, the place is exactly what you'd expect. Aside from the rude woman that greets you as you enter the building. We have many relatives that are buried here & others that have been cremated. Aside from Fridays experience, I have never had a complaint about my encounters here.

We left multiple voicemails for an update and we were not responded to. They finally answered the phone weeks later. Unfortunately this place does not understand their "mistakes" impact peoples lives greatly. We filled out paperwork specifically stating "the ashes are to be released to us and us ONLY.!" In life we never have a set starting point and our finish line is always different from person to person. At a very early age we always pit ourselves with others we respect or we want to be like or a legend who is no longer in the race. We never are told the rules of the race. While being green in this race we sometimes are taken advantage of and learn right away or make the same mistake a few times before we learn. While others may have more shelter and are not allowed to learn the rules of life until much later down the road. Throughout this race we see others who are struggling. Some of us are out here to help from the get while others are more tentative to help or arrogant and refuse to help. These are all part of our race and learn the playbook as we go. Throughout this marathon we learn from the miles we put in and make the tweaks to become smarter/efficient! Some are quicker than others at becoming smarter/efficient and some learn at a later stage of the race. This race is hard and we somehow push through to continue racking up our miles. Maybe some quit the race and are not seen again. As we encounter the entire spectrum of feeling we advance on this race, some of us are lucky to either find the "family" we want to surround ourselves with or even luckier yet have the family that we want to be around! Once we have our family and fellow racers in our pack, we race until we can no longer race! Some of us will know as we approach the finish line while others are snatched away from the race without notice. In your personal race, I beg you to acknowledge what and who you care for and let them know! This sometimes beautiful cruel race absorbs us without our knowledge and we do not give praise soon enough!

Other than this resting place, the closest one to San Tan Valley/Queen Creek is in Mesa. I love the green expanse, stretching over 7 acres, and the placement of benches. There are 40 more acres set aside. The trees will eventually grow. And a mausoleum is planned in future years. The entire site just has a feeling of "family" to it. The young lady in the office was very helpful and considerate, well-trained to deal with people in different stages of distress. The prices here are very reasonable compared with what other of my family members have paid in other states. San Tan Memorial Gardens double stacks its graves, so one purchase covers two people. I have two recommendations: I wish the groundspeople would spread grass seed over newly dug graves as it takes a long time for established grass to cover the bare ground. (I noticed a couple of families did that on loved one's gravesites.) And the Gardens' website should show, by the office hours, a statement that the cemetery never closes. (A few friends thought the entire property closed at 3:00, not realizing that was just the office.) Other than that, this is a real jewel for our area.

It's has less of a cemetery feel than a memorial space as they don't allow standing gravestones, just the flat plaques. Right now it's in development but the future plans will include a pond and bigger spread. The staff were so kind and helpful before and during the services, we were thankful for their professional guidance. My emotions are still raw but the peace of this place will soothe them as I come to revisit and reflect.
