This seafood gem located on Calle Merida in Roma Norte delivers bold and fresh flavors from the southern Gulf of Mexico. Many esteemed food critics consider it to be the best seafood place in Mexico City, surpassing Contramar, and I can see why. It is set in a high ceiling industrial space with indoor and outdoor tables. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quickly even though it gets packed. The tuna tostada was zesty and fresh. The tostadas are handcrafted and oven baked by a family in Tabasco. The ceviche negro was very lime forward. I highly recommend the camarones cristal flameados al Xtabentun which consisted of large shrimp flambéed in a buttery anise liquor from Yucatán combined with a creamy cilantro base. Another very unique dish was the tortilla gruesa rellena con pulpa de Jaiba which almost looked like a crabmeat lasagna consisting of a large corn tortilla filled with buttery Oaxacan cheese and grilled crab cooked with garlic, tomato and onion. This was some of the best and most unique seafood I've ever tried. read more
