Buyers in and around Wilmington should be aware of Harrington Classic Homes. If you are building…read moreor planning to build with Harrington Classic Homes, do your research and for those who are, check your home's progress daily or pay someone to watch over it for you. I've bought homes in Wilmington before and by far this is one of the worse builders and office workers I've ever dealt with. Do not buy a home from this builder until you have checked with the Better Business Bureau, NC Builders Association, past clients, Google Reviews, Cypress Village Place owners, and other locations in and around Wilmington NC. This builder and its office workers are a scam. They have no work ethic, professionalism, horrible customer treatment, terrible communication, poor quality work and poor quality materials installed in their new homes. They will charge high prices and install low grade materials on your property. This builder and his employees are a scam, they will try to stop you from checking the house while it is being built to prevent you from seeing the poor quality work and materials being installed in your future new home. They charged my neighbor $18,000 at the last minute at closing and then they blamed it on COVID. What builder do you know who buys materials while building a community of 30 homes? This is the most greedy, reckless, disrespectful, inconsiderate, lier and careless builder that we as a community have ever known... They have also left our community on the brink of bankruptcy due to their lack of respect for humanity.

RGR replaced a pretty complex roof for us on our oceanfront home. The roof is a low slope roof and is metal framed and welded to the metal frame of the actual home. We initially spoke with Elliot Rue and from the first conversation, we could tell this company focuses on quality detailed work not just turning a job. Both the owner, Greg, and Greg Ford met us at the house to go over the specifics of the job and the logistics of moving and storing materials on the barrier island. We were kept in the loop throughout the process and we sent many pictures during installation. I am impressed with the skill of the crew as well as the oversight by both owner and supervisor as the work progressed. We will be meeting this fall to go over some other upgrades to our house. With confidence, I strongly recommend using RGR Construction!

If you're wondering whether there are still many custom home builders with ethics and integrity,…read moreTrey Lewis and Lewis Coastal Homes and Renovations LLC will help restore your faith. Building a home for the first time, and from completely across the country, was often a stressful experience. Trey and his brother, Cole, sincerely understood and appreciated that fact, and could not have been more helpful, patient, respectful and accommodating. It cannot be overstated how important it is to avoid a nightmare by having a dream team construct your dream home, especially from a distance! Whenever I hesitated to make yet another change or request, (of which there were many due to a bad and expensive start with a different builder), Trey and Cole Lewis invariably responded with a sincerely positive, can-do attitude and significant effort to bring my vision to life. When budgeting or permitting laws didn't align with the design, Trey and Cole worked hard to deliver acceptable compromises and workable solutions. Construction is never without its challenges and issues, so it's imperative to employ a builder like Lewis Coastal Homes and Renovations LLC whose breadth and depth of experience, management, and problem-solving skills can help limit delays and ensure a successful build. Trey Lewis and our PM, Cole Lewis, personally guided us through the process, strengthening my decision-making confidence and often calming my nerves! Direct communication with the builders also led to greater efficiency and the detailed, expert oversight I needed. From historic Wilmington home renovations to modern oceanfront homes, Lewis Coastal Homes truly cares about the quality of their work, which can certainly be seen on their website and social media. What you won't see there is the builders' principled, trustworthy character and uncompromising commitment to delivering big on your greatest investment - your home. Committed to a constant pursuit of excellence and knowledge, Trey and Cole once visited my build at the height of a recent NC storm to ensure the new sliding glass door splash guard was doing its job to protect newly installed engineered hard wood flooring. And, yes, it did! Trust, it is said, must be earned. Trey and Cole evidently take this expression to heart, earning not only our respect, but that of our neighbors, who sincerely appreciated their job site management, work ethic and efficiency, not to mention the beautiful end result. Several neighbors have said, "If I were building a home, I would use your builder!" "Good guys" do still exist, and they're building some of the most aesthetically beautiful and structurally sound homes on the eastern North Carolina coast. No matter whom else you may be considering, do yourself a favor and include Lewis Coastal Home and Renovations LLC - a solid company built on skill and professional decency from foundation to finish!

For those who dont want to read...the end product agreed upon is fantastic and very well built...I…read morewould even go as far as to say overbuilt...which is good. I truly dont think you will find a better product in the Wilmington area....they truly build great decks....for those that want to read....I will take you thru our process..... If you want a quick turnaround on your deck, dont count on it, it will take several months. They are busy. Process- Salesman arrives in March...he is fantastic and helps us solve a couple of issues we had concerns with...two other companies did not. He explained procedure....10% down, if you cancel you lose half of your deposit...40% when they start and balance of 50% when project completed. You will have to submit plans to HOA for approval, they will take care of all the other permits...very convenient. We had our down payment in by the end of March and were put in Que...we were told the completion date would be mid June to late June.....their price was higher than the other two quotes....significantly, however; the product and design offered is far superior...pay the money, you wont be sorry. No communication from the end of March forward until I contacted them during the first week of June to ask about start dates....I was told they were waiting on permits...so I checked on line...its public information...our permits were not put in until May 31st....this delayed the build...the project started around July 17th and was completed on August 2nd. I feel the permits could of gone in much sooner to keep on schedule. There were a couple of hiccups during the build that we caught before they became a major issue...I would highly recommend you be home for the build to insure it is how you envisioned the project. These minor issues were solved easily and without concern, but if they were not caught before/during construction could of been an issue. One of the issues was a change we made after agreeing to a certain build height of the pergola, but while watching it being built realized it was to low...they raised it, no problem. The other was a cosmetic design that was sold to us but was not conveyed to the contractor....this was also caught early and rectified. The last was the underpinning...we thought it was included with the build because the deck was two levels and found out at the end it was not. They gave us a very fair price to add it on and completed it without hassle. They also gave us a price to have the pergola painted once it has time to weather. All of the Owners/team members I had contact with were easy to deal with....Glenn, Mark, Dino and Josue were fantastic. The deck is awesome, constructed extremely well and in the end thats what matters....I would chose them again without question.

We used Venters' Construction for our roof in Rutherfordton, NC. Brent stopped by one day and…read morequoted less than the other contractors. He stopped by several times before the project began to explain the steps. He has great communication and never left us hanging. He also cared for our historic house, making sure the original moldings remained. After the hurricane, he was the first person to stop by to check on us and the roof.

Venters construction is only in for the money. Forget customer satisfaction…read more Venters tell you that you'll be paying $32.50 per hour. Then tell you that it will take approximately one day to complete. Then give you a contract to sign that says $32.50 per man hour. Then 3 guys show up. So you start off thinking it's going to take one day will cost 8 hours times $32 or $ 256. Surprise! It does take one day. But it takes 3 guys one day- ooops- that's $800.00! They talk about trucks and about sports and all kinds of stuff while actually charging ALMOST $100.00 per hour!! Wow- that's a lot of money to watch guys stand around and shoot the breeze. Venters left a pile of debris in the driveway of a rental home from Monday until Wednesday. The neighbors piled their debris on top in the driveway. Landscapers came by and piled their debris on top. Even though Vetners knew there was twice as much debris in the pile because they didn't haul it away in a timely manner- they thought it was perfectly fine to charge me to haul all the additional stuff. Then they were hired to clear out, clean up and make level a section of property and given a strict dollar amount not to exceed. They did not clear out, clean up and make level anything. Instead they tore out a huge section of overgrowth, destroyed some landscaping in the yard and left a huge mess. Then they wanted more money to finish. I paid then more money to finish but it still is not cleared out, cleaned up and level. Why? They need more money! They can't believe I thought it would look nice for the amount I paid! The owner of Venters told me that he knew it would not look the way we discussed because he wasn't using the proper equipment. But of course he didn't tell me this until AFTER he had billed me. I will never use this company again. They do a bad job then want more and more money to fix it. Stay away.
