M & M is a small family owned business has been servicing RI and surrounding areas for over 25 years. I had a limited exposure to paving as a teen because I worked a summer doing it. Hot work ! In the summer, Hot work.. So, the job consisted of removal of old asphalt, grading, applying binder cost, compacting and then finish with class 1 topcoat and cleanup. The estimator was punctual to his appointment. The price submitted was correct and reasonable for the job. The appointment was made for the work 3 weeks out. The office confirmed the appointment a few days ahead of arrival. The crew with Mike (owner), at the helm arrived at exactly at the time and date established. The crew of 6 (7 with Mike), worked flawlessly together like a well tuned orchestra doing a symphony. In a few short hours the job was completed, the work completely cleaned up! No hesitation here: highly recommend! 5 stars ! Ken Postscript: LOOK.. Asphalt paving is a real tough occupation. Good help is difficult to find and keep. Customers, (especially ones that are not familiar with the "paving trade", are sometimes not treated honestly and overpay for substandard work. Quality of the work was top notch. We've had several hard rains since and there is no pooling. Water drains perfectly. Pricing was fair; we were provided a written quote and were not asked for a penny more. Clean up was very thorough. Mike and his crew were wonderful to work with. They started on a Monday and were done by Thursday end of day. They are the hardest workers Ive ever seen. They worked from 9am until, literally, the last cast of sunlight. I'm kind of a pain in azz and Juan handled me and my random text messages/questions quickly. His cost estimate was on point as well. They cleaned up after themselves and were great all around. I have them booked to come back and do the patio and another fence along the driveway. The trees they planted were not the right species and they were planted wrong according to one of their crew members - the owner of company was going to charge me to re-do the work and at full price! We had 1 urgent matter and, with the large amount of trees on our property, several other concerns needing attention quickly. When I first called I figured we'd have to have the urgent work done and schedule the other work for down the road. Well turns out that's not the case when you call CJ Tree. The estimate was reasonable and we are having the work done this week. So far I can say my experience with CJ Tree has been exceptional when compared to the 7 other companies I called! I will update this review with images and the outcome once the work is done, but I really don't see my opinion changing any time soon.
