So I recently read that osph had new management. Well, I booked it due to the fact we had some…read morereally great evidence from last time 2 yrs ago when doug and cindy were the caretakers. Apparently doug and cindy stole all the cameras, as well as other things. Anyway, to start out our investigation we loaded up on food, batteries, and sd cards. We arrived about 25 minutes early to take pics of the outside. The caretaker still hadn't showed up 5 minutes before we were supposed to check in, so we called and left msg with Tim(books hospital). No response. Called number on door for caretaker......doesn't accept incoming calls....texted number.....no response. 1230 rolled around and in fear the cold bag of food wouldn't hold I called Tim again. this time he answered, and with no concern at all said Stacey(caretaker) only lives a few blocks away and he would call her. Stacey finally shows up about 10 minutes later(40 mins late from what was agreed on contract) and promptly tells us the number on the door hasn't been hers in 4 months so she had a new one. She let us in and we finally got our food in the fridge( 1 hour past agreed time on contract). She wasn't concerned at all and never apologized at all. After this, she led us on a tour of stories of scratched people and how she was bit...(the bite apparently looked like fang marks...). Every story came out of horror movie or was at least inspired by one. I started to smell the b.s when she said Tim was filming a documentary to be aired on sci fi at some undisclosed point. Anyway, the hospital was filthy with disgusting mattresses you don't even see in prisons. So we slept on the floor, also disgusting. We were never told where masks were even though there was constant sightings of black mold and asbestos. The dust was ridiculous, but to be expected. It rained that night and part of the roof caved in in one of the rooms, and if you look around you can see many spots it has happened recently. Evidence you ask? Slim to none. After investigating for over 30 hours we had nothing. Only ended up with about 5 or 6 good evps. My theory is that when the previous caretakers had the hospital wired for sound they would send out sounds for investigators to hear. We heard these only to watch dvd of hunt and no sound was ever heard(possible edit?). Anyway, osph is haunted but not in the way they make you think. Plus, two days after they raised prices almost double(again....I smell b.s. and methinks it is due to sci fi publicity. Anyway, we will not be back due to the fact I might die of toxic mold. Place needs to be torn down and only way it should stay open is with removal of toxic mold so investigators don't risk their lives there.

This one is a little off the beaten path, just off of I-24, at the old Hales Bar Dam location. We did the VIP admission, which included the paranormal, haunted powerhouse, with a fast pass. We have actually done paranormal ghost walks. This one left a little to be desired. Mostly just touring a section of the powerhouse, nothing special. The haunted portion of the attraction was actually pretty good! We enjoyed it. It had different elements than most typical haunted attractions. We would probably come back, but leave out the paranormal part.

Free event with love free music, food trucks, and chihuahua races…read more For the 2016 event (the 9th annual event) there were a few hours of live music by pretty good artists and bands. Ruth B was one of the more popular performers, and she and the other sI heard did great jobs. During this time, where wasn't too much going on, but there were some food vendors, trucks, and drink vendors (beer, frozen lemonade, etc.). There was also a first aid and veterinary first aid stand. Especially considering how many dogs there were at the venue, I thought the vet aid was a very thoughtful addition on the part of the event organizers. The event is sponsored and run by Hits 96, the Chattanooga radio station. DJs from the station were the emcees of the event. The main attraction is the dog races. There are 4 sets of bleachers for spectators, but that's not enough to support all the guests. Many of us were standing on the floor flanking the edges of the race lanes. Visibility is very low if you're in the back rows, especially since the competitors are so small, haha! The first round of races takes the longest time. Chihuahuas are split into groups of about 5 and are taken out onto the racing lanes by two of their owners/guardians. One guardian takes the pooch to the starting line, and the second waits at the finish line doing everything to get their dog's attention in order to coax it over the finish line first, thus winning the heat and moving on to the next round. Many of the dogs in the first round seem to be ambivalent, confused, or maybe a little nervous about the race. Only a few dogs each heat will actually make it across the finish line, many will scuttle around their starting line guardian unsure of what to do. First guardians, when sending their dog off at the signal, which do a small tossing of the dog in the right direction, which doesn't seem to faze the dogs. Even though athletic ability was a rare sight during this part of the event, it was fun to watch because of the funny situations that would come about (two dogs almost started getting it on!). Once their dogs fail in the first round, many of the owners and spectators will leave the event. By halftime after the first round, the crowd had thinned out a lot. My friends and I were able to have a much better view, and we were able to get some of the many empty spots on the bleachers. The third, fourth, and final rounds of the races are much more competitive. The dogs involved usually know the deal by now, and there's real excitement and anticipation to see which dogs will win. This half of the races also goes much faster, and not just because the dogs are actually running instead of dawdling. At the end, the fasted dog is crowned winner. There are also competitions for best team spirit and best costume (awarded during halftime, I believe). I know at least one of the prizes was tickets to see Adele. Parking nearby cost us $5, but the event itself is free. There were many, many dogs and not just chihuahuas. I brought my beagle mix, my sister brought her great dane mix, and I saw many other varieties. Suffice it to say: DON'T COME IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DOGS. I didn't see any misconduct from any of the dogs, but some of the chihuahuas were yappy and aggressive with some of the other dogs. No fights ever broke out that I saw, which was good. All in all, it was a fun event, especially for a first timer like myself. Since I don't have any friends or dogs racing, I'm not sure if I'd go again, especially if it were out of my way and cost $ for parking. I'd recommend it for the fun spectacle, thought.

Visiting the Bessie Smith Cultural Center was a spectacular experience! As a native Chattanoogan, I…read morehad never had the pleasure of attending before, but my visit today blowed me away! This museum and performance hall features a beautiful array of Chattanooga Black history as well as showcasing the wealth of Black musical talent that has hailed from this wonderful city, including Bessie Smith herself! Each exhibit features tangible artifacts alongside highly informative digital displays with written information, as well as short documentaries playing in select areas. Mr. Elijah was our tour guide and he held a wealth of knowledge about the origination of the area, beginning with the Indigenous peoples that lived in the area, progressing through time. The galleries he led us through featured Chattanooga's greatest African-American movers and shakers, prominent entrepreneurs, important local historical events, and much more! I highly recommend anyone who loves Black history and loves Chattanooga to pay a visit to this powerful and inspiring establishment of historical and cultural celebration!
