Logan on the other hand won't return a call when my father had to go to a skilled nursing he told me that he would contact corporate and see if there was some compensation they could make because he would be gone over a month. The next time I heard from Logan I saw him in the lobby and told him it would probably be longer and we may have to move him he said he would contact corporate and see if there was anything they could do. After another month I moved my Father which I didn't want to do he'd been there over 5 years and he's a hundred years old, Logan had been on vacation or out of the office for several weeks I never heard anything from him until I called after moving my father and ask him to make sure they didn't charge his account. I don't think he's very professional when he tells you he'll do something two times and then doesn't.

It was very important for us to find a place that felt like home for our mom. Nikkiann & Beatrice helped make the transition from home to the facility comfortable for both our family and our mom. They always had a smile on their face and for the first month would report to us regularly on a weekly basis on how our mom was doing. This brought us peace of mind and made us feel we made the right decision. Sharon and the caregivers were highly qualified to care for patients with different needs like our mom who had dementia, Parkinson's, diabetes and history of TIAs. We are so grateful for their unconditional care and love they showed to our mom and the whole family. Our family highly recommends Henrietta's Leven Oaks! They earned 5 stars and beyond for their quality service, beautiful historic building, and amazing staff. Thank you so much for caring for our precious mother.

Some people jokingly refer to the University of Notre Dame as Catholic Disneyland. On Sundays,…read morethere are literally dozens of places on campus to go to Mass; every dorm has its own chapel; there are more priests walking around in their black suits than you've seen since the early 1980s, and all the famous campus landmarks associated with football (Touchdown Jesus, Fair Catch Corby, First Down Moses) are actually pieces of religious art. Well, if Notre Dame is Catholic Disneyland, then Santa Teresita is Catholic Disneyland for old folks. No, there aren't dozens of chapels on its little campus, but you can't visit without seeing at least one or two Carmelite nuns in their traditional habits (all-white habits if they're doing medical work), and although I've only visited four or five times, I've met at least two different priests here, and I never came for Mass or any other religious service. The religious who work and volunteer here simply love spending time with the residents, and it shows. I know about Santa Teresita because my then 100-year-old great aunt moved in for a month when her full-time caregiver was on vacation. My very religious aunt loved the setting, the nuns and priests, and especially the staff members. She couldn't say enough about how well everyone treated her, and even though she was determined to live out her days in her own home, she admitted that Santa Teresita wouldn't be a bad place to be if she needed to live here. That might not sound like a glowing endorsement, but coming from my aunt, who never would have dreamed of leaving her house, it was an encouraging sign of openness. Not long after her 102nd birthday, my aunt's caregiver retired, and my aunt moved in to Santa Teresita permanently. This time, she had a room on the second floor, close to the elevator, and I visited her five or six times. My mom was largely in charge of finances and making sure she had everything she needed, and my aunt was always telling my mom to bring chocolates and other little things to give to the staff members and the nuns. My aunt really took to and loved the people who worked here, and when I met the employees and volunteers when I would come to pick her up or bring her back, I could tell they took their jobs seriously and truly enjoyed my aunt's company. The grounds are lovely. All the residents live in two cottages separated by a cute courtyard. I've only been inside the newer cottage, but they both look very nice from outside. If you toured my aunt's cottage while no one was there, you would have no idea that this is an old-age home. It feels more like a modern apartment complex with many large, inviting common areas. When we would bring my aunt back to Santa Teresita at night after some social event, there were always at least a few people in one of the main shared areas watching a movie on the TV. In addition to residents, staff members and priests would sometimes be there, but it felt totally natural, as if friends were just watching a movie together. I don't know many of the specifics, but I know that Santa Teresita offers various group activities for the residents, including field trips and on-site parties. At last year's Halloween party, my aunt won an award for having the best costume. Administratively, my mom dealt mostly with Sister Carmen, whom I only met once but who plays a big part in my whole family's estimation of Santa Teresita. She's a high-energy crackerjack marked by her deep commitment to her residents and making sure everything is running properly. My aunt's needs changed over the time she was at Santa Teresita, and Sister Carmen was always patient with and helpful to my mom in terms of assessing and changing levels of care. My aunt passed away peacefully in her sleep at Santa Teresita this past February. She was 102-years-old and had lived a full, enchanted kind of life. At her funeral, I got to meet Sister Carmen and some of the other employees and volunteers who cared for my aunt. She had left a deep impression on them, and despite the fact that the funeral was very far away from Duarte, a lot of people from Santa Teresita came to pay their respects. They also had a separate memorial service for my aunt at Santa Teresita. Rehabilitation and old-age homes can and often do feel so depressing. Nothing at Santa Teresita ever felt that way. From the setting itself to the employees and volunteers, there was always a sense of goodwill and companionship.

Need to update my review. You may notice some reviews from Gary M…read more I am so upset that someone is saying that Huntington Oaks Village is unsafe. That is totally untrue. We do have a guard, Mohamed, a very kind young man. He is there to ensure our safety and has ALWAYS BEEN PROFESSIONAL when I have met him walking around. This complex has always looked out for our safety. Be it enforcement of no drinking outside the fence on the wall, no drinking by the pool, or no smoking of anything on the complex. Smokers are allowed to smoke outside the complex, more than 30 feet from the fence. Additionally camera's have been installed to make sure we are safe. I have never seen anyone nor have I heard of anyone threatening Gary's Mother, who happens to be a very sweet woman. Also, the accusations being thrown out are complete unfounded. There are no Drug Dealers, mafia knee cap breakers, or enforcers. The Staff is nothing but professional. Efren and Romi are the nicest people you have ever met. The disparaging comments about Efren, Romi, and Mohamed are untrue and outright mean and racially biased. Tchia, Marsha, and Antionette are always available. There are times the office is extremely busy, but they do their best to help everyone. This is a community of seniors 55 years and older. We have coffee and donuts every Saturday, Super Bowl Parties, Christmas Parties to name a few. The Club House is open for socialization and bonding. It is scary getting older and not having socialization. But we watch out for one and another. If someone goes to the hospital, we jump in to care for their pet. If someone isn't seen for a few days, we check on them. This is how a community works, how it use to work back in the 50s, how it needs to work now. If I fall, I know that my neighbor will be there to help me. It saddens me that one person has a personal vendetta against the staff who are always kind and helpful to all.

In fact, almost every spot in here has a fantastic view be it the 1st floor with the tropical "forest" setting or a view of the mountains and white/red housing which defines life in California. Some of the many pluses: 1)Security Gate-For those parked outside (1 spot per car within the gates), you have people in the two park area's watching. 2)Pool and Jacuzzi 3)Centralized Air - Digital (gets cool quickly)-Living with a single A/C unit in the house was never ideal) 4)Clubhouse events-Movie Nights, Game Nights, Cooking classes, pool table, library where you can take out books. 5)Close to the Walking trail (approx about 5 miles in length from starting point to end). 6)Maintenance responds quickly with anything that would be an emergency. 7)Short drive to the Duarte Library, Tennis, Park for picnics (which is on the trail but also parking spots there). 8)Clubhouse has two BBQ's plenty of chairs, tables, umbrellas, and lounges. 9)Relatively safe neighborhood, and beautiful Palms everywhere, it has become my safe haven when I come home from work, very nice. 10)Mailboxes, I know this sounds dumb, of course there are mailboxes, but I had lived in a house where I had to walk around the block to get my mail, and the mailbox was missing the flag so I had to drive to the post office to send my mail out. 11)Each Apt home gets a chair or two, great for laying out and getting in the fresh air that comes in from the mountains. 12)Very friendly staff and residents living here. 13)Laundry Facilities-24/7 14)We have our own Traffic Light :-).
