I did registry here as an LVN. I've been to over 102+ communities , facilities, prisons(psych), and hospitals. Non of them have been able to be EXCITED to go to work. The employee ARE HAPPY. THEY GIVE THE KIND IF CARE EVERY HUMAN DESERVES, MORNING NOON AND NIGHT. The location is a dream come true you're not on earth your in a paradise of community. The residents, The residents, The Residents. They've blessed me at 40 in ways I can't explain, sitting down with them is a gift. They love it here and it shows. It made my med pass more of a trip to my grands house I was so intrigued with them. If I have a chance to work her. I'm running you don't see places like this anymore. My boyfriend's mom recently had a very bad fall and broke her hip. She had complete hip replacement surgery and needed to be at an assisted living facility for her rehab. My boyfriend's parents picked this place because it was close to home. Unfortunately she wanted to go home quickly because she was treated terribly there and did nothing to regulate her roommate who insisted on blasting the TV 16 hours a day. My sister (only 64) spent her final days here. It was during Covid and it was very difficult to spend any time with her because protocol was, she must be near death. Not at all Royal Oak fault but the doctors would call us every week or so at all times of the day and night saying your sister is close to death, now is the time to come, she doesn't have much time. Even though we all live in Oceanside it still took a bit of time to gather at the oldest's sisters house and make the drive up to Monrovia (or near). That drive could take anywhere from 2 1/2 hour to almost 4 during rush hour. You can imagine how it felt to get their only to be turned away because she showed signs of improvement, although they told us she would not improve enough to every be released from hospice care. When her time finally came, we were treated like Royalty. The nurses and staff couldn't do enough for us. We were by her side for almost 24 hours. We all felt she just wanted to hear our voices and spend her final hours with her beloved sisters. The nurse assigned to our sister had the kitchen staff bring coffee, tea, water and finger foods we could snack on. The nurse picked up on our Christian faith and would prayed with us. When our sister finally let go to be with God, the nurse said the most beautiful pray I've every heard. We all felt our sister couldn't have had better care anywhere, we almost felt, in the world. Thanks to ALL the wonderful people who helped us through one of the most difficult times in our adult lives. More importantly, took such incredible care of OUR BELOVED SISTER. My mom has lived here for about 4 years. Royal Oaks has beautiful grounds, a pool, fitness facility, chapel, nice dining room and recreation area. My mom has received good care here--not perfect, but pretty good. I think it's a good place for her. Since Covid they've struggled with being understaffed and they have been in a continual state of renovation (which in the end will be good), but those are the things that have been harder for my mom about living here. I appreciate the transportation services, medication services, laundry and cleaning services, and the variety of activities offered as well as special events for holidays. read more

I am so grateful to Royal Oaks for the amazing care for my husband during his stay. It's scary to have your family member away from home as it us but to feel safe when they have to be somewhere makes it a little easier on the family. The doctors, nurses, administrators, therapist and just everyone were so phenomenal to my husband. He was nervous to even go anywhere but he was so comfortable there and they literally went above and beyond. Answered any questions I had during his stay and prior to his release did all his labs and things so we were ready for follow up with our primary doctor. The activities coordinator was able to get my husband involved and it was just so amazing. My husband is not social but he was there. I am grateful to everyone there and will always be thankful for the wonderful care my husband received. I was sad every day I left from visiting but was comforted that he was being well taken care of. There is so much I can about Royal Oaks. One of the worst run facilities I have ever come across. Joel, in admissions, is an absolute flake. I was told 3 times, over the course of 5 days, that he would call me back, and only when I called a supervisor to let her know I was going to be leaving a negative review did I receive a callback. Why should it come to that? And by the way, he wasn't apologetic in the least...his response was "so you are no longer interested?". WOW. Unless you have a lot of time to waste chasing after them just to get information, I would suggest you invest your time better with a facility that cares. If this is the attitude and lack of follow-through/professionalism that leadership tolerates, I can only imagine how they would treat our loved ones. I also see the "owner" generally responds to people who leave negative reviews here. He or she can't say anything that would make my experience untrue. This "owner" would be making better use of their time looking into the actual problems at the facility rather than trying and do damage control here. read more

My parents moved into Royal Oaks in 2006. My father stayed until his death in 2017. My mother is still at Bradbury Oaks. She is 102 years old. I credit Royal Oaks with helping both of my parents to live long and happy lives. I appreciate the caring staff at Bradbury Oaks who have cared for both of my parents in assisted living and skilled nursing. My dad was hospitalized in April for a week and I got a one day notice from the hospital to find a facility to transfer him to for skilled nursing needs. Royal Oaks - Bradbury has been an absolute godsend and I will be forever grateful to them for nursing him back to health and now he is doing better than before he was hospitalized! He had been near death the week before getting admitted at Royal Oaks and didn't even have the strength to lift a cup to his mouth, the progress has been nothing short of a miracle!! The grounds are beautiful and serene with lots of walking trails and places to sit and enjoy. The whole environment is perfect for healing, the PT and Activities team (Frances and Luis) are the best and have gone out of their way for not just Dad, but our whole family. A very special THANK YOU to Tony, Deirdre and Adrienne (and Bernadette from Westminster, the sister facility who referred me to Royal Oaks). They have made it possible for my dad to continue his healing at Royal Oaks until we can figure out a way to make it his permanent home where he will continue to thrive instead of just survive. To management team @ Royal Oaks, I am writing this letter to the public to request both of you to be proactive with the resident care at Royal Oaks. Ever since Royal Oaks of Be group becomes Royal Oaks of HumanGood, the quality of resident care has been surprisingly declined tremendously. The management of Royal Oaks of HumanGood had disappointed residents, families and employees. Families have been paying about at least $8,000 to $10,000 a month to live in Royal Oaks. However, they have not been receiving the quality of care they deserved due to lack of nursing staffs to provide care. Many other for-profit skilled nursing facilities within San Gabriel Valley area cost less amount to live in and they are able to provide more nursing staffs to feed, change and walk the residents. When you look at the public disclosure Form 990, the facility Royal Oaks and HumanGood in general still have a good profit after Be group become HumanGood. CEO, CFOs, Operation Director, Vice president of some department who have big title all have a super generous increase in their bonus and salary! I am wondering if anyone of you who have connection with the corporate can explain why there's a short of nursing staffs to take care our loved ones there, while the company has such a strong earning power and increase in salary for the big people? Is HumanGood a really non-profit who truly contribute to the society by providing quality of care to senior? Families and employees hold high expectation for quality of care on Be group. They hold the same high expectation towards HumanGood as well. Have you both who work in the management been delivered your knowledge, skills and experiences to provide better care for the Royal Oaks residents? Do both of you know any residents and know what they need? Can you even recall any resident's name in your head and say hello or good morning to them? I hope you both can. With a crazy, fast paced, and money driven vibe of society, sometimes people forget to be compassionate even though they are full of knowledge, skills and experiences. People nowadays easily forget to care for the seniors who have built the good solid foundation for their future generation. Honestly, they deserved a better care from us. Meg and Sam, I urge both of you to open your eyes and ears to listen and see what the residents need? Do they need a home full of familiar faces they can trust to take care of them or do they need a complete stranger walking into their home who doesn't care for them waiting 2 hours before diaper change? If you have your grandma or grandpa who require skill nursing facilities service, do you think you both manage well enough to let your beloved grandparents to live in Royal Oaks? We do good things because we can set a role model to our next generation. What goes around comes around. Imagine yourself becomes a senior, how do you want yourself to be treated? What kinds of facility do you want live in? I believe both of you are intelligent enough and do not require nursing home business ethics 101. I forgot to mention the Food Service at Royal Oaks. The staff in the Dining Hall is extremely polite, courteous, and attentive. I can't emphasize that enough. Friendly, pleasant wait staff. I visit on holidays (Easter, Mother's Day, etc.) and partake of their buffet with my mother. I have to admit that their buffet is not all that great. I would give it maybe three out of five stars. As a local real estate professional, I have had the pleasure of working with Royal Oaks when our clients have moved there from their home. The staff, especially Jennifer Daruty, are most professional, helpful and caring in this sometimes difficult and emotional transition. The property is safe, secure and very welcoming, offering several sitting areas for the residents to sit and relax outdoors. Once inside, it is very bright, clean and feels homey! Horrible interaction with Sales person on phone named Mamie. Took several attempts even to get in touch with her to get some general information. Finally when she did get back to me, she was extremely rude and unhelpful on the phone. I was interested in setting up a tour to see the facility as I an looking for a CCRC to relocate my 88 yr old parents from another state to So Cal to be closer to me. They are currently in independent living. Mamie started to question me on the phone and essentially tried to equate my parents current living requirements with that of Assisted Living, simply because of their age. She basically made it sound like I was wasting her time, since I am doing the screening of different facilities for my parents and she was not able to meet them directly and " Royal Oaks does not admit directly to Assisted Living." I was appalled by her attitude. Anyone with that attitude toward potential customers/clientele is certainly not worth meeting or further pursuing. If this Sales person is any reflection of the staff at Royal Iaks, take my advice and STEER CLEAR. There are lots of other facilities in the area to choose from, whom I'm sure would be full of attention and compassion to their senior residents. read more

Beautiful retirement home! Royal oaks is a top of the line community. Very upper class and pleasant place to live. The staff is excellent!

The food used to be good here for the residents but has gone under recent changes and now the food is like prison food. The residents pay $$$$ a month to live here and now they have to eat meals that are cold, bland and look like prison food. I would not recommend having your loved one move into this community judging how the new ownership is taking care of my family members. Other family's are now complaining about the same treatment their family members are getting here also. read more

My mother in law lives in Bradbury Oaks ( Assisted Living). I have to say that I am pleased with this place. The staff is wonderful, they are very kind her and she is always in clean clothes with a nice hairdo when we visit. The food is delicious. Resturant quality. Royal Oaks is beautiful! Grounds impeccable. Public rooms decor although attractive, are a bit dated. Heard this will soon be remedied. Had occasion to have lunch recently and a decided improvement in food. Servers are young, well trained. Royal Oaks has been there a long time and knows how to do it. My dad has been living at Royal Oaks since 2014. He is now 96 and in the nursing area of Bradbury Oaks. I visit for several days every 2 to 3 months and accompany dad to meals, meet his friends, have participated in health meetings, etc. Be mere chance I've been present for holiday parties, monthly birthday dinner buffets, etc. There have been changes through the years in the food style and quality but overall I feel Royal Oaks does an excellent job. I have the highest respect for the personnel in the dining areas and now on the nursing floor, as well as having good experiences with every administrator I have dealt with. Dad has never had a complaint. Having been involved in shopping for a residence for an older person, I also found that they need to know an awful lot about a future resident, which seemed a bit invasive. But the assumption is that a resident will stay for years, sometimes decades, and their financial position is relevant to their future. I am sorry to see even one negative review, since my long experience has shown me excellence. read more

This facility turned out to be very unsatisfactory for my now-deceased mother. She moved in with very high hopes which were very quickly dashed. She found the food to be fair, at best, and unpalatable on far too many occasions. The staff in the Dining Room were great, but admitted in hushed tones that the problem was the contractor and the budget for food; just too lean a budget! The building is old brick construction; no emergency lighting and the engineer admitted, once again in hushed tones, that "when the earth starts shaking, I am outta-here because this baby is going to pancake!" Finances were ALWAYS mysterious, to say the least, and the promised "refund" upon my mother's passing simply never was paid. the "be.group" LOVES you until they have your money, and then they never want to see you again. One gets the sense, they want residents to die quickly so they can maximize their profits and pay their exorbitant salaries. Deep research indicates that the "be.group" has some pretty sizable financial problems which do not bode well for the future; very heavily leveraged and bonds are rated "junk". I would NEVER place, nor recommend the placement, of anyone I loved or cared about, in ANY be.group facility, especially Royal Oaks Manor. Just about ANYWHERE would be better. BEST AVOIDED!!! read more

It was the middle of June 2009. I had turned eighty one the previous February and my dear wife had followed with her birthday the following April. We had noticed for some time that activities, once easy, had become more difficult and we sometimes forgot to do things that we did before as a matter of habit. Of course, we were far too young to consider anything as radical as moving to a retirement residence. We had looked at several places in the past out of curiosity and since my wife's mother had been a resident in a retirement community she was familiar with what they were like, what they offered and generally if there was a homey, family atmosphere rather than an institutional aura. Finally, after several falls, stays in the hospital and visible concern of our daughter we decided to 'get real' and look around again. We visited three different places in the area, all of which were lovely. Of these three, Royal Oaks was the one that impressed us the most. This is becoming lengthy so let me 'cut to the chase' and tell you why. 1. First of all the general overall beauty of the well-maintained grounds and a feeling of home and safety one senses when entering the property - 2. After that we were shown a number of available apartments. While all seemed to besuitable for occupancy, the sales person explained that they could be modified based on the desires of the potential new resident. The down side to this is that the noise from the jackhammers, drilling etc. is quite annoying to the neighbors. - 3. An impressivegreat room and dining room that will be refurbished soon to keep pace with the competition - 4. Marvelous holiday brunches fit for a king. However regular meals, with the possible exception of Sunday dinner,have a tendency to be quite a bit less remarkable. 5. A wonderful staff at every position, from management through service and mechanical positions. Competent, polite, cheerful and desiring to 'do a good job'. 6. Royal Oaks is very well maintained. It is cleaned regularly and spotless in all the public areas. 7. Finally, but most certainly not the least important, is that skilled nursing and assisted living accommodations are available.
