I went to their Botox Brunch on 3/16/19 event which was held from 12-3pm and it was really disorganized and there was no communication. There was a sign in sheet outside the room, I was probably 6th on the list. There were a lot of people standing, people pacing and just waiting. I arrived around 12:15pm and there were 5 people that were there before me. At 1:15pm, the Dr still hadn't seen the majority if at all any of the room. When I asked a woman what time she arrived she said at 12pm, so then I asked was she first to arrive she said no but she was frustrated that she still hasn't been seen since the event ends at 3pm. There wasn't any sort of communication from the staff on when we would be seen. The food didn't arrive until 12:30pm and they served warm mimosas. The irony is that the staff kept asking everyone if they wanted refills on the mimosas, no one took any...no one wanted warm mimosas. I would've stayed til at least another 2 hours before being seen after being 6th. The issue I had was there was no communication with the staff or the Dr herself. I noticed that the Dr.'s responses to Yelp reviews are never apologetic but always providing excuses. I won't be back. read more

I am not the type to leave negative reviews, but due to my horrible experience with About Face I just have to. I have had fillers for over a dozen years (I recently moved to the area), so I know all about side effects and have never had anything close to this. Dr. Pickens was lovely, but injected/sold me so many filters that my face terribly bruised, swelled up for weeks,and left plugs of product in the inside of my mouth--six weeks later they are still there. She was trying to get at my "marionette lines." My smile is now crooked. At least I know that a few months it will go away. She decided to put fillers underneath my eyes (this was not my idea) and she permanently broke a blood vessel. I could have gone back to have the excess/expensive fillers on the inside of my mouth dissolved, but honestly, I didn't want this person, however qualified, working on my face again. I have read some pretty horrible reviews regarding how a business treats customers who buy discount promotions, e.g. groupon, living social, etc. Well - thankfully - this is not one of those businesses. I purchased a living social deal for a photofacial - the description that livingsocial wrote made it sound like this photofacial was right up my alley. I had a couple of issues when I first made my appt. - it was cancelled by the office and rescheduled, then cancelled and rescheduled again (and the reason I knocked off a star). I was a little leery at that point... The day of my appt. (third try) finally came - I showed up early to the office, filled out paper work - and it wasn't long before I was in the exam room. Dr. Pickens was very nice, she spent quite a bit of time going over the photofacial process, showing before and after pictures, and answering any/all questions I had. It's been about a month and a half since I had the photofacial - I have noticed improvement - like, the redness in my face toned-down. Dr. Pickens recommended additional photofacial treatments; however, the cost is too prohibitive for me to continue. If I had the budget - I would definitely return! read more

Then called their 2773 number, got put on hold three times, before finally talking to someone who didn't even bother to ask for my name or any info just wanted to know where I had heard about them. Not encouraging. Then I asked them some basic pricing questions "About how much does Botox in the crows feet area cost?" before being informed that they didn't have that information and I would have to leave a message for Dr. Pickens (the owner) who would hopefully get back to me. I have no idea why the other Yelpers had a problem with this place. The day I called, Dr. Pickens answered the phone and gave me an apt for the following week. I am in my late 20's and have had problems with adult acne and blemishes, which seems to get worse the older I become. I must say that the first time I went in it was difficult to find the garage because I drove past it twice. The receptionist, Dawn, stayed on the phone with me to guide me back around the block into the garage. When I got into the office Dawn greeted me with a warm smile and welcoming personality. I was given information about options for my skin and was put into the exam room right away. Dr. Pickens was with me right away. I must say that Dr Pickens has flawless skin so this gave me some hope, especially after seeing dermatologists for many years and no results. I have ZERO complaints about the products and services I received. Very affordable skin care compared to the prices on the web. Also, I have had 3 appts with Dr. Pickens with no wait. Anyone with problem skin I will recommend Dr Pickens because within 1 month I have seen great results versus thousands of dollars spent with dermatologists with no results whatsoever. read more

Her place was very clean the staff was very friendly it was easy to get a appointment - they called to confirm appointment and the Dr was not in a rushed she spent as much time with me as I needed as I had a lot of questions - I didn't feel rushed there was no big push to upsale. I purchased a skin care line that I simply love - and would differently recommend About Face for skin care services. I recommend Dr. Pickens and the About Face Centers because Dr. Pickens is kind, knowledge, professional and an expert in her field. Terrible experience. The doctor is nice but staff is terrible. Bought a 3 velashape package on groupon. I scheduled 3 following Wednesday. When the lady called to confirm a day ahead I told her that I wouldn't be able to do week days and and I would have to cancel my appointments. So she scheduled for 1 1/2 months form that date. When I got there 1 1/2 months later for my first appointment the lady said since I never canceled my other following appointments I lost them. I tried to argue that I cancel all the appointments at the same time but she said there were no notes. On top of that tried to sell me more 3 sessions for 600 and there were still selling the package on groupon for 199. Also doctor keeps trying to sell abagi products. Having a hard time getting a hold of anybody at this place. First tried to schedule appt a couple months ago, spoke with a rude man who was in a call center - I guess they outsource their customer service to middlemen, and their dedication shows. Called next day and the phone number was "incorrect or out of service". No luck for a week with that phone number 703-683-2773. Called this week and nobody is picking up the phone. This may be long, so grab some popcorn and beverage of your choice... Alright, I'm in my late 30's and over the last 2 years, I have developed serious hyperpigmentation along the jawline. It's causing me to be self-conscious to the point were I don't feel comfortable going out without any makeup to cover up the horrible darks spots. I've searched in vain and interviewed/visited 5 dermatologist and MDs in the past month, looking for the RIGHT ONE! My appointment was for 12:30, I had a hard time finding the place, because according to Yelp and their office voicemail it's on Columbus. But, it's actually on S. Patrick, right behind Alfred St. Baptist Church in a medical/office complex. So, I was about 5-10 minutes late. I get to the office and was greeted warmly by Dr. Pickens. Let me just say this off the bat, she is BEAUTIFUL. Her skin glows, it's absolutely perfect. I thought to myself "this is my goal to have beautiful skin just like her". So far, so good. Armed with a list of questions and concerns that she addressed individually and in depth. No rushing. She showed me examples of her patients that have used laser treatments, microdermabrasion and Obagi (the skincare system). She walked me through her suggestions for treatment that would include a combination of the 3 listed. I was most concerned about the laser, because for people of color we can't use the same as everyone else. She settled my mind on that. Alrighty, things are looking up! Then she asked me to take off my makeup to better access my skin. You want me to do what????? YIKES. She handed me a face cloth and cleanser to reveal the source of my discomfort. She snapped a few pics and it wasn't as painful as I was making it out to be. I walked out with a travel Obagi system, a follow-up appointment and a clearer understanding of my skin and what I need to do to get it back on track and maintain the new, refreshed skin. My appointment concluded at 2pm. Never in the history of appoints has a doctor spent that much time with me. Dr. Pickens has a very warm, welcoming, comforting nature. read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Pickens to have her advise me on some skin problems. She has the most beautiful skin. I felt very comfortable addressing my issues and concerns with her. She has a very calming demeanor and makes you feel relaxed and at ease enough to discuss your issues without cause for embarrassment or blame. After the initial consultation I made an appointment with her for treatment. My recommended treatment involved a few Dysport injections and some filler. I opted to receive the Dysport injections. The cost of the filler was definitely out of range for my budget at the time of my visit. However, I do want to return for them when it is more economically feasible for me. The doctor was amazing. She has a very gentle touch and it was not unpleasant at all. Hardly felt any pricks of the needle at all. I would highly recommend Dr. Pickens' services. I am 40y/o female , married with 2 children and had occasional stress incontinence. After the birth of my children my bladder would leak while exercising, sneezing ,laughing or coughing.This went on for years. Recently it worsened and I was having trouble making it to the restroom in time. As a result, wearing a pad and taking a change of clothes was becoming my life. The fear that this was growing into a serious medical condition took over my thoughts. I shared my story with Dr. Leslie Pickens and she suggested the O Shot. She encouraged me to do my research then contact her for any questions. After researching I decided to give it a try. The day of the appointment I was a bit nervous but Dr. Pickens assured me that the procedure would be quick with minimal to no pain. I arrived at About Face and was greeted very pleasantly by Dr. P and her staff.There were several pages of paperwork for me to complete, including a medical history questionnaire. Dr. Pickens reviewed my paperwork, asked me for more info and explained the procedure, how it worked, and when I could expect to see results. She said previous patients were pleased and that the treatment seems to last about a year. The procedure was very simple and quick just as she said. She applied numbing cream to the area and drew my blood and let it centrifuged while the cream took affect. She was able to collect a good amount of platelet rich plasma (PRP) to mix with the calcium chloride solution. With her gentle approach, Dr. P made each injection. I was completely numb outside so I could feel some pressure. She reminded me to keep breathing. I had about 2 injections. It was a little pain but only lasted a few minutes. When she finished she gave me some gauze to clean away the numbing cream and very little bleeding from the injection sites. I got dressed and used a liner just in case there was more drainage. I was a bit concerned if I could feel myself urinate since I was so numb. However , I had no problem. Dr. P came back in and explained that I won't notice a difference until week 2 or 3, when the collagen has time to regenerate and rejuvenate the vaginal tissue. I was fine with that considering my struggle was years. Dr. Pickens encouraged me to call if I experienced any problems, and to return in a month to let her know how the procedure worked for me. Its been about 2 months now and I must say that the O Shot has worked! I haven't had to wear a pad or rush to the restroom. No mistakes and lugging extra clothes around. I have been wanting an IPL photofacial procedure for years, but just never took the first step. When I saw the groupon for it at About Face I jumped at the chance. When I first got to the office, Dr.Pickens explained the IPL procedure and also told me about Obagi facial products. I have spent $$$$ on all kinds of products over the years trying to correct the sun damage I did to myself in my younger dayswithout visible results. After a few months of Obagi I can see a BIG difference. My friends and family are noticing a difference too! I will never go back to over-the-counter priducts again. It takes a while for your skin to go through the phases, but stick with it- it is worth it! The IPL combined with the Obagi has changed my skin. It looks better than it has in decades! I was so disappointed with the way they handle the situation. First off, it took 4 weeks to make an appointment. When I called in to make the appointment, I asked for the earliest, any day, any time. The earliest I could get it is 4 weeks out. I was excited because I got a groupon for 1 IPL photo facial . On the day of arrival, I called from my car to ask where I can park. The receptionist told me in the garage. Then she asked for my name. Then she told me that I don't have an appointment. I was so upset. Then she told me that she can squeeze me in. That really made my day. The. She check in her system and told me that my appointment was 3 weeks out. I know for sure I didn't made that appointment. So I explained to her my situation and told her I really appreciate she squeezing me in. She said "since you had an appointment already, I can't squeez you in. We are completely full." I explained to her that I have to take 2 hour off of work to come here, and told her that I am willing to wait and even take the last appointment. She still said "no, we're full". It was just earlier that you agree to take me, but because I already have an appointment 3 weeks from now, all of a sudden, you can't squeeze me in? I wouldn't recommend this place if they have such bad customer service like that. read more

I would just like to caution anyone who is considering going to About Face. First a consult costs $100.00. Typically and ethically when a company charges for a consult, they allow the client to put that money towards the purchase of services. The receptionist at this company initially stated that was their policy. However, after the consultation, all of a sudden the receptionist informed me that I had to apply the $100.00 towards purchase of a service on the very day. I asked, if I can have time. I was told time would be granted. When I called Dr. Pickens a week and a half later, she informed that I had forfeited my $100.00 and the money just went to the consultation. Dr. Pickens felt very comfortable stating that and could not see that she was behaving in an unethical manner. For that reason, I knew that I could not trust her to provide any services to me.
