Shirley and Corey did an outstanding job on our old flooring (circa 1874 and 1890). We were working with a very tight timeline They started on the date they said they'd start, and they finished on the date they said they'd be done. There was a conflict with another contractor who needed to leave his trailer in our driveway (preparatory to starting a job on our property) but Shirley's trailer was there. Shirley was cooperative and flexible. She proposed pulling her trailer out a day earlier than she planned, and that the other contractor would drop his trailer off a day later than he planned. That worked out on both sides and everything went smoothly. Yes, Shirley is a plain-talking Yankee who speaks her mind. She's a real character. We took her occasional bluntness with a grain of salt and with some amusement. She did outstanding work for us at a reasonable price. We highly recommend her. read more

I went onto home advisor and punched in my information, clearly stating that I was not looking to hire at the moment but was solely looking around for well-reviewed floor refinishing companies for a new home purchase . I did not at any point this afternoon request a quote from this company (or any other company)while on the website as I have not moved into said house yet. I got a call at 9:30pm tonight from a number I didn't recognize so I declined it and sent to voicemail. Ten seconds later the same number calls me and I decline again. Ten seconds later the number calls me a third time so I pick up the phone thinking it must be some sort of emergency or serious situation for someone to be calling me 3 times in a row at 9:30pm. I pick up the phone and it is someone from Able Wood Floors. The representative literally says to me "Hi this is Able wood floors. You requested work on your floors or something??? Or what do you want? You know it costs me money every time I have to call you." Dumbfounded at the audacity, I explain that I was just poking around for budgeting and planning purchases and wasn't ready to hire (as I clearly indicated on the site). Given this, I said I was a little confused why someone was repeatedly calling ME at 9:30 AT NIGHT after being sent to voicemail twice to then tell me that I AM COSTING THEM MONEY for each time they're calling me. The woman's response was that "Yea well sorry about the 9:30 at night but I gotta call or I lose it with Home advisor. It's f*cking retarded. I'm about done with them I'm telling ya." After I restate I am not looking to hire right now she literally says "well when you're looking to hire keep me in mind." I AM F*CKING REELING RIGHT NOW IN DISBELIEF THAT THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Yes, Abe Wood Floors, I am DEFINITELY going to hire you after you harass me on the phone at an unreasonable hour to then essentially scold me for "costing you" for every phone call. Are you calling from a pay phone? More importantly, are you high???? Thankfully, I've learned everything anyone needs to know about this joke of a company's professionalism without having to hire them and find out the hard way. Steer clear. read more

As a fellow flooring contractor the last thing I want to do is cut down another person's work. I am on the job sanding now that was installed by this company. It is the worst installation I've ever seen in my life. If I could rip this brand-new floor up right now I would. They left a full 2in gap on one side of the room from the wall. .There is separation on all the boards already because they did not use enough staples. The floor is loose and moving. And after the job was done she up charge the customer $300 for Staples. They didn't set any of the nails.The wood was provided for them along with a nosing. Not only did they not install the nosing she took it with her and then lied about it and then it mysteriously appeared back at the job. read more

I'm going to keep this review simple and to the point. Sloppy work, shortcuts taken, stain and polyurethane splattered where it didn't belong, large gouge in floor from poor sanding. . Excuses like "nobody is perfect" given after the fact. Two call backs to fix globs of polyurethane left to dry in the middle of the floors. Then even that was screwed up. More excuses regarding personal issues going on outside of work. Terrible work, terrible experience. Sloppy and lack of detailed work. Shortcuts taken. If you do hire them, make sure they tack cloth the floor AFTER sanding and before applying the finish. Don't settle for the quick vacuum unless you want debris, hair, etc. stained and sealed into your floor. read more

I'm not sure why others rated low. They did a fabulous job! Shirley with her staff, David and Cory were pleasant, friendly and explained everything in regards to the flooring quality and process. There are no gaps and fitted it right under my thresholds. They even moved the TV console from one side to the other while putting in the flooring, since I was reluctant to unplug all the wires and figure out how to put it all back. I love the way the floor came out!!! Definitely recommend!! To the next room we go.... read more

Very professional and amazing work. The quote was also VERY reasonable. We had done some shopping around and chose Able wood floors. They are very professional and know what they are doing. They were able to make my floors look amazing again. They were on time, they told me exactly what they were doing and DID IT! Very impressed, professional and NEAT!! I saw a few negative reviews but after reading them it's obvious she had some disgruntled employees (or crazy customers) so we ignored those. And we are sure happy we did!! Extremely unprofessional. The floors are rough from not being properly cleaned between coats. There are uneven areas where the sanding was done too deeply. Every baseboard in the house needs to be repainted. They left all the trash in my garbage can, saw dust all over my front walk and spilled a can of poly on the street in front of my house. Shirley wanted to be paid in cash but settled for a check made out to her and not her company. My floors look like a child did them and need to be redone!!! read more
