Prep Smart Professional Painting has been doing an exceptional job with prepping and painting our home. They prepared a quote for us, describing what would be done along any special requests that we made. Before the crew came to prep, we walked through the rooms being worked in and reviewed the contract, making changes or additions. The crew showed up on time and prepared the walls and ceiling, covering and moving all furniture. We loved the work they did and have them coming back to do our bedrooms and bathrooms! read more

accross the board from start to finish. Patrick is very honest and their work speaks for itself.

Patrick at Prep Smart has been incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. Always got back to me quickly. Quoting was easy, detailed, and very competitive. Highly recommended. read more

Very helpful with project suggestions. My wife, who assumes that ordering in a restaurant is similar to choosing a career path, hasn't made up her mind so I can't comment on their work. read more

Bid was way overpriced. They try to oversell their preparation and all the work they do, only to under deliver with time table given. Way over priced, do yourself a favor and get other bids and compare and then you'll see how crazy they are read more

I contacted several contractors about painting and doing a few minor repairs to our kitchen cabinets. Prep Smart was the only company to bring a sample cabinet door to show the type of work they do (this would end up having a major impact on the story - see below). They initially quoted a higher number than we were willing to spend, but when I told Ramsey that he lowered the quote to fall more in line with the other estimates we were getting. We had 20+ yr old oak cabinets that we had considered replacing, but the boxes were in fine shape other than a rotted floor in the sink base cabinet. There were cat scratches on a couple of the doors and drawer fronts, and the finish was wearing off to the raw wood in some places, and there was plenty of grime from years of not having any knobs or handles. So it was time for a relatively affordable refresh once we decided to sell our house. We chose Prep Smart because they said they could make our wood-grained oak cabinets have the same smooth finish of the sample door they brought on the sales visit. Their estimate was not the lowest or the highest, but we wanted the cabinets to look new and the sample door (plus the photos of their previous jobs) convinced us they could deliver the quality finish we were after. They said the job would take 1 week. Monday morning two painters arrived. Mario was the primary painter, and I have to give him specific recognition. He is one of the most effective communicators of any contractors I've ever dealt with, and a true painting craftsman. He made sure to explain everything that was going to be done, and ask my preference anytime there was a question. He and his assistant diligently removed the cabinet doors and drawer fronts and meticulously taped off the cabinet boxes to prepare for spraying, and they tented the entire half of the kitchen to prevent overspray and a big mess. Prep took 2 full days. Excellent work. Once painting began Mario asked me to look at the initial results and confirm if it was satisfactory. This is when things got interesting. The finish was not the smooth, solid surface that resembled the sample door, but a painted wood grain that you would expect if you just painted over the grainy oak. We immediately called Ramsey to point out the difference between what we were expecting vs what we were seeing. At this point we both realized there was a miscommunication around what was meant by "the same finish as the sample". Obviously there is a lot more work required to sand and fill the wood grain then just to paint over it. It's a lengthy process, especially given the volume of cabinets that we have. At this point progress slowed to a crawl as Ramsey and Mario discussed how to proceed in order to deliver a result that would satisfy us. They tried a couple simpler methods but it was clear that the only way to deliver the desired result was to completely fill the wood grain with wood filler and sand all the surfaces to a smooth finish, which would take several more days than planned, as well as increase the cost significantly. BUT THEY DIDN'T CHARGE US MORE! Mario got to work despite already having other jobs on the schedule. It took an extra week plus a few more days to finish some of the repairs, but the end result is spectacular! Here is why I recommend this company: 1. Ramsey honored his original price quote even though they spent an extra week+ doing the work to make sure we were completely satisfied with the result. 2. Mario did an AMAZING job and delivered a stunningly beautiful result. Our cabinets are GORGEOUS and have been mistaken for brand new cabinets by several people. I considered only giving them 4 stars because of the somewhat deceptive sales pitch and the actual length of the job, which left us without a usable kitchen for more than 2 weeks. But it is rare for a contractor to go above and beyond to satisfy their customer in my experience, by not only admitting a mistake and honoring the original price but also completing the work to such a high standard. Those factors warrant a 5-star rating in my book. Many thanks to Ramsey and Mario. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. read more

We had our home interior painted and it looks FABULOUS! Very professional and competent workers who were respectful, quiet and did a wonderful job. The crew cleaned up after themselves each day which was appreciated. The attention to detail was right on and I highly recommend this company. Outstanding company! From Patrick in sales, to Ramsey (owner/project manager), to Mario on cabinets and Lazaro (job foreman), and three accompanying painters, all were extremely professional. Crew was on time every day and worked 10 hour days. Final job was immaculate!!! Lazaro's attention to detail was commendable! read more

I am sharing my experience with Prep Smart Painting and not making any judgments. My first contact with this business was receiving a quote that was two times the final settled amount which was still high to most competitors. Being able to later negotiate with Ramsey, who I believe is the owner, not only did the price half, but there were significant commitment made but not kept. To really bottom line this, I had a side of a house painted and a relatively small outdoor deck. The project took three times the amount of time that was committed. this extension was not weather related. A couple of days before the job was finished, I called Ramsey and mentioned there were lots of areas that still needed attention. He assured me that his team will be back as part of the process to repair anything left undone. Well the team came back, and left, but not only was the touchups not done but they left behind a trail of foot prints in the paint and did not even replace what was on the deck back to the deck. I have made the decision to finish the painting/touchup myself. From my experience, I cannot imagine that I would use them again or recommend them. +3 read more

When I met up with PrepSmart Painting, I let them know that I am picking and that I pay attention to details. At first, I thought that they were doing a good job. Hubby was happy not to be on the ladder and doing it himself; however, I noticed that the underside of the windowsills were not primed or painted. The house and garage are white and we stayed with white, but the frame around the glass of the enclosed porch was dark green. I can tell that the glass frame was not primed and it appears that only one coat of paint was used. The green is showing. I showed them these issues during the "inspection" and was informed that it would be taken care of, but it wasn't. I asked about the paint - what was the name of the color? That information was not supplied. I sent a couple messages and was told that Ricardo dropped off a can of paint, but he did not. I asked when?? No answer. A couple of days later, a can of paint was left on my front steps. I started painting the underside of the windowsills. The glass frames will take me much longer. I also noticed that our French doors were never primed or painted. We have 2 doors on the porch, 1 bulkhead, 2 garage doors, and 5 doors on the house which includes the French doors. The garage doors, bulk head, 2 doors on the porch, and 1 back door were painted. Lastly, there was green lattice under the porch, that was sprayed with white paint, but the green is still visible. Instead of doing it ourselves, we broke down and hired PrepSmart Painting. As I paint and fix what was not done, I can honestly say that PrepSmart Painting missed the details and the doors. For what was charged, I expected better. I don't think that I would use them again. read more

Prep Smart and Ramsey ( owner) did an excellent job painting our kitchen cabinets. The job was done professionally, expertly and in a timely fashion.
