Horrible experience. Do not recommend. The female instructor was disrespectful, unprofessional, and…read morein the end, attempted to deflect attention from her poor behavior by directing toward us an accusation of some unnamed and ungrounded 'prejudice' against her. WTF?! Here's a detailed timeline if you want to read more. 1. I scheduled an appointment with them at 12:30, showed up at 12:10. During the wait, nobody told me what I needed to do. At around 12:20, I walked up to a male instructor and let him know that I had an appointment at 12:30. He told me to wait until it was my turn, and someone would come to me. Nobody ever came up to me. 2. At around 12:40, I went up to a female instructor who just came back from a road test. I told her that I had an appointment at 12:30. The female instructor told me that she was running late and was supposed to leave at 1:00 pm. She had to do another test originally scheduled at 12:00, but another instructor would do my test instead. She didn't apologize to anyone affected by her delay. 3. At around 1 pm, the male instructor came back. I went up to him and told him again that my test was scheduled at 12:30, but he had another test to do and said I would be the next. 4. At around 1:20, the female instructor came back. I didn't expect her to give me the test because she said she was going to leave at 1:00, but I saw her standing 30 feet away from my car seemingly waiting for me like I was supposed to know what to do. 5. As I pulled up to her, she didn't come close to my window or anything. I brought my documents and walked up to her. She started saying that she wouldn't be giving me the test, but she would help fill up my paperwork. 6. As she was filling up the paperwork, she asked me where I learned to drive. I wasn't sure what kind of answer I was supposed to give her, like which road I learned to drive on? I thought she might've asked 'when' instead of 'where' so I tried to confirm with her. Then she changed the question to who taught me to drive. I told her "it was my friend, to be more specific, my husband". She hesitated and asked, 'so...your partner?' I sensed some hostility towards my homosexuality but I didn't take it very seriously as there might be some cultural and/or religious difference. 7. After she was done with the paperwork, she instructed me to start the road test. Wait, what? I thought she wasn't going to do my road test? When did it change? Maybe she's just gonna do my parking test and let the other instructor take over after? Anyway, I was glad if she was to give me the road test because it means I didn't have to wait any longer, but I would appreciate it more if I could be informed of any plan change for the test I paid for. 8. After the parking test, she got in my car. I explained to her that I was planning to adjust my mirrors even though they were already adjusted because I heard people say it's a must in the test. She didn't respond. But as I was adjusting the mirrors, she asked very impatiently, 'Can you move?' 9. The way she spoke with me and the way she gave instructions during the road test was very condescending with a lack of respect and professionalism. Despite me waiting for about an hour and how uncomfortable she made me feel, I showed her great respect. Each time she 'issued a command', I would say 'okay, thank you' to show my appreciation for her time and to confirm that her instruction was received. 10. In the end, we had an argument. She stormed out of my car without a proper conclusion. I said to her as she was getting in her car, ''thank you for making us wait for one hour". She replied, "You are welcome" with contempt on her face. I guess some people take pride in being rude. 11. She didn't give me my receipt so we drove to their office to get it. She kept us locked out the whole time except when she handed out the receipt. When my husband pointed out that she was tardy and unprofessional, she just threw at our face an unexplained and ungrounded accusation of us being prejudicial.

Charles was very encouraging. We were fortunate to get him again for the next ( 3rd time!) and she passed. The scheduling was simple. Done over text. They don't rent cars. This was fine since she was practicing with mine the whole time. Reasonably priced, and they reduced the price by $10 for the retest. They even have weekend hours. Highly recommend!

Michigan driving laws are still a head scratcher to me. When I was a kid getting my driver's…read morelicense in Miami, FL the road test was conducted at the DMV by the DMV. Here we don't even have a DMV we have a Secretary of State which sounds so grandiose. But they have outsourced the testing of new drivers to private firms? Maybe a little less grandiose. And each person can choose and hire their own testing company? Okay Michigan. I'll play by your rules. The word on the street was that Hoth Testing would be a good choice, especially for drivers who might struggle with anxiety. For parents who are setting up the testing, communicating with Taylor via text was easy and pleasant. Pricing was straight forward. Scheduling was painless. And payment was digital. As for the testing itself, our assigned tester was kind, explained everything well in the moment, and helped to put the aspiring driver at ease. If anything, they were a little bit too friendly, making casual chit chat during the test, which my kid found a bit distracting. Even still, they passed on the first attempt. I was expecting this process to involve at least two attempts, so this was great news. To be clear, the high points are not because of the successful resolution of the test, but rather the grace and professionalism for all involved. Somehow, even with all of the training tools provided by the great state of Michigan, I was unaware that backing into a parking space would be part of the test. But it is. And I have feelings about that, but they are irrelevant to Hoth and their protocols. The bottom line is that if you live in Michigan and need a driver's test for a license, I can confidently recommend Hoth as a great choice.

Amy's instructor, Erica, was a wonderful teacher. She put Amy, a nervous driver, who had twice failed the test in the past, at ease. Erica calmly and meticulously taught Amy how to drive safely and with confidence. We were both so impressed with Erica and I highly recommend her to families with nervous teens! I saw a night and day difference in Amy's driving and in her confidence level on the road. Erica is a gifted teacher! Amy then took her test with Mike who like Erica was low key and also able to put young drivers at ease. Mike obviously knew his stuff but had such a lovely personality that Amy was not nervous at all. I am unsure if Mike teaches but he seemed to be gifted with young people just like Erica. All-Star has clearly done their due diligence in hiring great staff. Plus when Amy passed with flying colors, Mike seemed almost as proud of her as I was! All-Star was a great help to me. I'm not sure that I would have been able to get Amy comfortable on the road myself because she was so nervous after her previous failures that I didn't feel it was safe to practice with her without help. All-Star was easy to deal with on the phone and provided excellent customer service. They made driving lessons safe, comfortable and easy for Amy giving her the needed information, practice and confidence. For the peace of mind and safety it was well worth the money for private lessons -- especially with such an excellent staff! We are so grateful to the staff at All-Star and recommend them highly!

This is such a lack of customer service-but not surprised the way that customer service has gone down the drain in some many areas. I see Maggie Y. review that her daughters test was rescheduled 4 times. This is bad business, especially when you are asking for someone to call you and they never do.
