Once we decided on the flooring the guys came round a couple of days later and started the job. Our dining area is quite large and they had to first of all lift the old laminate and lay the new wood, this was all completed within 2 days to a very high standard, they also cleaned up after them so no mess was left behind. The carpet was also laid in our lounge in this time also, again to a very high standard. We would definately reccommend Floor Coverings Intl to anybody looking for new floorings. Craig, Derek & his team gave good old fashioned customer service from the initial consultation to the finished result. Craig visited us at home to show us samples & give advice on suitability of coverings for our large space. At no time did he pressurise us into making a hasty decision. His quote was extremely competitive. We did not have long to wait for a date that was convenient to us. The work took 2 full days to complete, the first day lifting the old flooring & putting down a new underfloor. The guys were extremely neat & tidy workers, very polite, friendly & considerate. When I arrived home for my lunch break I was greeted by a man who was accusing me of scratching his van even though I had just arrived on the street from work. I believe he saw a white scratch on my bumper which was caused months prior by a van that parks on our street. I explained to the man that I did not bump his van and that our street was notorious for these sort of dents due to people double parking. He angrily muttered something under his breath as I walked away. After 20 mins of being home I went back to work and was greeted with the a 3 foot key scratch to the bonnet of my car. I contacted my neighbour who was working from home and at this point was nervous that this man was now in her home completing work. She has mentioned that she did not feel safe. Our entire communal group were shocked and were just as nervous that someone who would do something like this has access to our building. This incident has made me feel completely unsafe in my home and I am absolutely torn up that someone would do this in revenge with absolutely no indication that it was myself who bumped his van, apart from a misguided hunch. I think it is absolutely awful. I would also be surprised if people would want to work with a comp[any that would deliberately vandalise a neighbours property and put an entire community of residents on edge. I don't believe this man knew that I was so close with my neighbour. He definitely didn't think I would be given the name of this company or that his actions would ever get back to him. Horrible, Horrible experience which has left us all feeling unsafe.

Since then, I've found out he had already gone insolvent in June 2020 and had been expelled from the Federation of Master Builders (FMB). I would strongly recommend anyone thinking of using Iain Martin to look at a Facebook page called 'Edinburgh C0wboy Builders' and search for him and his business - it's a long list of victims. My project was to knock two rooms into one and add patio doors, along with some other internal works. My problems started when Iain Martin invoiced me for materials such as steelwork, patio doors, doors, windows, heating and electrical supplies. Nothing unusual and all within the quote, so I paid. But as the work stalled and deadlines were missed, he blamed the suppliers or Covid and found any excuse to divert attention. It all sounded so feasible. My suspicions grew, so I called some of his suppliers and found that orders had never been placed or suppliers were not doing business with Iain Martin because they hadn't been paid for earlier work. Iain and his 'Account Manager' do not have the slightest grasp of decent project management, effective (or polite) communication, client service or managing peoples money honestly I cannot emphasis enough that he should be avoided and I would recommend everyone reads the various links online. As I hear from other victims, it is clear this is not an isolated case and is a very common way he operates. Despite long negotiations and discussions over the past year, including Court Action, he has not repaid what is owed and I remain significantly out of pocket - as do many of his other victims.

One is trying to fit a carpet up a set of stairs and around to the left on an upper hallway. When you have one flat, relatively square floor, it's bad enough. When you have nooks and crannies and all things awkward, it's time to call in the professionals, before you have to shop for a replacement carpet. For us, it fell down to Green Monkey, who came, fit and made shame of our home-grown attempts. Where we have wrinkles in our rooms, our stairs are stunningly smooth. It warms my cockles to run up and now the stairs (in socks of course, no damaging the newest arrival to the house!) feeling the carpet under my feet. A good job well done!
