Robin the business manager was INCREDIBLY helpful and went the extra mile to help out. Not pleased with a few main nurses and a few nurses assistants who cared for parent. Many nurses & nurses assistants did NOT have a good bed side manner. Everyone has a bad day but it was a regular basis with some individuals. However, we did have a 1-2 fantastic nurses assistants. But they were eventually assigned another wing/floor and my parent no longer saw these fantastic nurses assistant. Most, but not all nurses & nurses assistants seemed bothered, unhappy and unapproachable. Parent was there for almost 1 month. Family members rotated and visited patient on a daily basis (10:00am - 9:00pm) and somstaff caring for patient appeared to NOT like it. Took as long as 50 minutes for someone to respond to room buzzer/bell to assist patient out of wheel chair, into bed and change soiled diaper. Other times clocked were 35, 40 and 45 minutes, etc. This was not a rare occurance. Patient and family members were as patient and pleasant as can be. I completely understand that all places are understaffed and overworked, that is why we were patient and hung in there. But this was almost a regular basis. Patient had hot tea spilled on them accidentally in dining hall one day. However the person walked away and never came back to clean up patient. Spouse of patient had to wheel the patient back to room and ring bell/buzzer for asssitance. Patient was reprimanded for ringing bell/buzzer in middle of night due to roommate choking. Another time patient was told by a nurse "I don't like you...you are too demanding". Family member was told "what is it with you people...we can never find your mother...you always have her somewhere". Believe me, this place is not big by any means. There are not many places to go or hide. Most patients are sitting in wheel chairs alone in the hallways. From what I can tell...we were 1 of a very few families that visited their parent daily and the nurses & nurses assistants didn't care for us to see what goes on. One night my mother was poked in the middle of the night to wake up, my parent thought it was time for medication. She asked the person...is it time for medication and the person said "NO". I logged a few complaints with a staff person. I can go on with a few more complaints...but I have a headache. I KNOW for certain we made the right decision to leave. I just feel bad for the patients I became very friendly with while my mother was at this facility. I will miss talking with them and wheeling them around in their wheel chairs. Maybe I only put a smile on their face for 5 minutes for just saying hello, carrying a conversation on with them or pushing them around...but it made me feel good to make them feel good. Finally we removed my mother and went to another location close by and are SO MUCH HAPPIER with the care of the patient. So far the patient now only waits 10-15 minutes from time buzzer/bell is rung to get assistance. Also...the new place is larger and the wait time for assistance is shorter.
