I really like the care that I have received from Dr O'Rielly at this office. He first visited me…read morewhile I was on a "hospital vacation" in March of 2011. His bedside manner is good. He explains things to you. He spends plenty of time with his patients, and he is not into over-medication which I appreciate. Given that I am a 34 year old mother who has a bloop pressure problem in reaction to another medical issue I had earlier this year, I also appreciate the fact that his goal seems to be to get me off my bloop pressure meds. We'll see if it's possible, but he does seem to be concerned with making sure my quality of life is as good as it can be. In addition, his office returns phone calls very promptly! That is always a sign that a doctor does care!!

No one except me to insist on similar treatment that Dr Slam gave me. I was fitted for free surgical bras. My friend wasn't even advised what to expect after surgery. Thanks to Dr. Slam, I could guide her competently. No one wants a bad mammogram, but here is where you want to go.

We then told them he's not in pain and he's not ready to lay down and die but Rather was there to try and get his appetite back. I could tell you story after story after story of this awful place but it would take me several pages. They do not sponge bathe you nor do they do any type of hygiene care you are on your own. They left our loved one lay in bed with his blue jeans on for four days until I changed him into sweats. Then after ten days told him he had to go home and die basically. Do yourself a favor you will get better care at home then here or pick a different hospital. It's a joke they only want your money.Take a look at their brand new building that we helped pay for but then kicked out of their to go die its in humane. All of it !!!!!

My experience with the James is based on what my family went through with my late paternal…read moregrandmother's treatment for melanoma. Mama received chemotherapy and radiation treatment from 2001-2006 before the disease ultimately took her life. The James has made great advances in cancer research and treatment over the years. They do many experimental treatments in addition to the tried-and-true methods. I know that Mama participated in at least one experimental treatment. Everyone knows early detection is everything. No one caught Mama's cancer until it was too late, and she had a form of melanoma that was horribly aggressive and very difficult to treat, but the team of doctors overseeing her care did everything they could to try to cure it. They were busy, yet they took the time to talk to everyone whenever Mama went in for treatment. They were supportive. The only thing they did that no one in the family was happy about was in regards to Mama's medications. Prior to her diagnosis, Mama was reasonably healthy for her age. All the same, her GP did have her on a couple medications (I'm guessing for her heart and something else). Her doctors didn't check her current prescriptions when they ordered new medications for her, and there was a pretty horrific interaction that landed Mama in the hospital and convinced us that she was going to die right then and there. The floors where the rooms are never cease to make me uneasy and panicky, but they're clean and well maintained. (That's really all I can say without having an anxiety attack.) Downstairs in the lobby, though, it's not as sterile-feeling. There's a gorgeous salt water aquarium and some fairly comfortable seats. Waiting while a family member is in surgery or receiving treatment is never enjoyable. It's been proven by numerous studies that aquariums have a relaxing effect on people, and having that aquarium helps patients and their families relax and it helps lower their blood pressure. Wi-fi is available in the lobby. Elsewhere in the James, it's a huge no-no. I don't really know what effect laptops and personal cell phones have on the medical equipment, but given that those machines are super-sensitive, what might seem insignificant to the Average Joe could be profound where the staff and the patient are concerned. Take your cell phones and laptops to the designated cell phone use areas. Don't use them in the patient rooms. So, aside from the doctors not checking on Mama's medications, the James is a fantastic hospital and an even more amazing research facility. If they can one day find an absolute cure for cancer, it will be yet another notch in their belt. Four stars.

Why would I stay in the hospital for 6 hours if my results came back normal? This sort of treatment is lazy and as a hard working black woman I don't appreciate this type of behavior!

I then try to get to communicate the following day and begged and begged and begged at the technical assistant would fix this.. it still wasn't fixed.. this is what they say on their MyChart..."Communicate with your doctor, get answers to your medical questions from the comfort of your own home, access your test results.". This is a complete lie.. they put me in the worst position here I couldn't even communicate with my doctor and I begged and I begged and I begged please make it so that I can send a message to my doctor on my chart.. they completely ignored me.. nobody replied nobody even cared.. find me what I did was said take my whole MyChart down I will never use it again completely remove the whole thing I will never use your service again and now I will have to call in for everything and I will never be able to use a service that they supposedly provided for me when I needed to communicate with my doctor the most important things I couldn't even get communication to her when she kept calling and calling and calling and I couldn't get to the phone because I'm working... How dare you create a system that's supposed to streamline communication and not allow a very important communication to be given to my doctor when she's calling me.. after I begged and I begged and I begged for you to fix it.. clearly the IT department should be replaced. I even submitted requests in the MyChart for technical assistance and it was completely ignored!

Unfortunately I have a serious, rare migraine condition, as well as another neurological condition…read morethat has taken me on a long journey throughout which the Neurologists, Physicians' Assistants, Nurses and other staff at Columbus Neurology and Neurosurgery, aka OhioHealth Neurological Physicians, have accompanied me the whole way. Dr. William Carroll is my neurologist and I would definitely give him five stars. I love this man. He has saved my life and given me back a quality of life I had given up on ever having again. When other doctors had accused me for years of faking, of drug seeking and of just malingering, Dr. Carroll never gave up until we had a diagnosis. After that, he has refused to give up until we had the right regimen of medications and lifestyle changes to give me my life back. He has a very dry sense of humor and is very soft spoken so if you aren't paying attention you may miss what he says or take him the wrong way, but he truly seems to care. I feel like Drs Simensky, Novak, Bruns and Klatte are of the same cloth. I have had to be admitted quite a bit and when these doctors are on call, they all have awesome bedside manner and make sure I get what I need to get back under control and back home as soon as possible, while making sure all my questions are answered well. Dr. Novak has also done all of my EMGs and he is very patient with the fact that I ask a lot of questions. He is also very gentle. The nurses and office staff have always been awesome at helping me with any messages I've needed to leave, getting prescription refills and all the ridiculous paperwork my previous employer required as well as the recent paperwork I needed for my current employer. Abby and Ashley at the front desk are the best and have even helped me out with things I have needed for my own patients at work. Travis, Dr. Carroll's newest nurse, is very prompt and quickly returns my calls and answers emails and messages, making sure to keep me informed of the progress he's making whether it be a refill, paperwork or a referral. The only complaint I have had is that Dr. Nayak is very unpleasant and rude. She's the only reason I couldn't bring myself to give 5 stars. Her answer to everything is that I am fat. That is exactly how she puts it too and she's not exactly svelte herself. She's very impatient. I have always been told to utilize the answering service to contact the on call physician due to the nature of some of the things going on with me and because I am at increased risk for stroke, but if Dr,. Nayak is on call, she very rarely will return my call and if she does it is several hours later. She has made it very clear to me from our very first meeting that she feels like I am a huge waste of her time. I have spoken to other people who have had similar experiences with her and when I have been in the hospital a lot of times the nurses on the floor said they didn't like dealing with her either. If I needed something that required calling the MD while she was on duty, there were a couple on instances where nurses would wait until she was gone and another doctor was on call to take care of it, even if it meant leaving me suffering. I often recommend this office to my patients who are looking for a neurologist or neurosurgeon. They even have physicians who do neuropsychology as well as pain management doctors. Simply an awesome bunch of folks!

His manner is very friendly and easy-going, and he makes you feel comfortable. I had no problems with his old location in Worthington. It was small but actually much more convenient for me (have you SEEN the traffic at Polaris?). However, the new location is clearly much nicer... roomy, modern and bright. Anyway, check this out: I called Mid-Ohio Internal Medicine yesterday (Monday) to make an appointment for some stomach issues and was told I couldn't be seen until Thursday. This was a problem for me, because I was going to temporarily lose my medical insurance starting Wednesday. I asked if there was anything at all they could do, and the secretary said I could come in at 10:15 a.m. today (Tuesday), but I might have to wait for a long time, as they were very overbooked. Well, I arrived at 10:15 a.m. and the waiting room was completely empty. I waited about 30 seconds before being called back, and the whole exam from arrival to departure took about 20 minutes. Amazing.
