The restaurant became full over the course of the first hour and half, and service levels did not drop. Serving a group of 23 brings it own challenge whilst still looking after other patrons. A job well done. Food is definitely on point. Everything we ordered was on point. Papad Crispy Corn - Definitely being added to the order list next time we are in. Gunpowder Fries - Kind of like Nandos peri fries, but better! Salt and Pepper Broccoli - Was expecting a deep fried tempura version, but actually was not deep fried at all. A welcome change actually, and very well flavoured. Broccoli was al dente which was a nice touch. Chilli Garlic Mogo - Different again from most places, as had a lasan (garlic) chutney vibe, but still managed to keep the Mogo crunchy. Vegetable Manchurian - The Manchurian balls did not get soggy and the sauce was brilliant, especially with the fresh crispness of the spring onions. Mari Chicken Tikka - First time we ordered this, and definitely won't be the last! Something very different to just the normal Chicken Tikka Seekh Kebab - Could have been a bit more girthy, but flavour wise, delicious. Tawa fish - Different to fish pakora, and I'm all for it. Felt like a Goan version with a semolina coating. Chilli Cheese Naan - Could have eaten this all day long, wish it was a less mature cheese, but I guess that's a personal preference. Chilli Paneer - Enjoyed by all the vegetarians, not really I dish for me as not a fan of Paneer in general. Daal Tadka - Loved it with the Tandoori Paratha Kadai Keema Peas - my preference on Keema is a slightly dryer version, which this was. Why, is it so empty in here? This place is a little gem, the service magnificent, we even stayed for about 20 minutes after chatting to the people there. My honest opinion to anyone in this area, go there, go there right now. Take your friend out for a lovely Indian meal and you won't regret it. The atmosphere in this place is good, brown and subdued. Day of The Raj is not a big place but it is really good which is why it's lasted so long. The curry served here is not oily at all (something that is very important to me). You get the real sense that Day of the Raj relies on local business and it therefore good. My brother raved about this place and this is why I had to try it. There is a Sunday buffet on offer but the good news is they do not stop providing dishes from the regular menu. You can't go wrong at this place but be sure to reserve on weekends.

Had the following items: Pani Puri - It was fresh and ok but a little bland Chilli Garlic Mogo - Made from a tangy paste so not dry but I did enjoy the flavour. Chilli Chicken - had a similar taste to the Chilli Garlic Mogo as I suspect it was the same sauce but had some kick to it, but if you order chilli chicken what do you expect. Masala Papad and Fried Papad - Now I think they made a mistake and forgot to bring the fried one out but the Malasa one was nice served with diced onions and tomatoes with spices on top. For Drinks (Mocktails): Passion Punch - Great fresh taste and helped to cool off the spice from the Chilli chicken dish. Shirley Temple - Nice drink and something different but I did prefer the passion punch but I would recommend people do try both as they are both completely different. The bill came to £50.00 for us both and we had to take food away as there was too much for us to manage. The venue also has a space downstairs for private functions which I believe caters for around 50 guests and is priced per head between £22.50 - £25.00 per head but I am sure this is all negotiable. Family friendly and mixed crowd when we attended, a very pleasant place to take friends or family. Seating wise we were a little close to the booth next to us and the table was a little small for the food we ordered but to be honest the table we had which was for 2 people would be the same at any venue. The booths looked good so recommend you book these if you can. Thursday night and place was still filling up nicely. The food is always well flavoured and you can ask for the mains to be made either a bit more or a bit less spicy to suit your taste. The meat used is good quality and never dried out and the portion sizes are also good. The service is always friendly and fairly quick and the food does always taste fresh. The only slight negative is that the coffee served is at times slightly bitter.

Worth noting to avoid half pints of beer/cider, as they charge about 80% of a full pint which is very very unusual. Highly recommended!
