    Hot and sour soup

This has become our go to Chinese spot in Scotts Valley! The new owners have taken this place up a notch. They are friendly and the food is very good. Besides Chinese they also have Pho and my Vietnamese wife loves it! We usually stop in for lunch. The lunch plates are not huge but they are enough food to where your not carrying out any leftovers. Soup and egg rolls are options that each add to the price. Dinner portions are also very small. Not as good a value as some other places so minus one star. I really like the Mongolian beef with fried rice. The beef is pretty sweet and not spicy at all but super tasty! It has a nice crunch from the addition of bamboo shoots... The rice has a Vietnamese flair to it, it's like "broken" fried rice! (Good broken, haha) As I mentioned they have Pho, the Vietnamese noodle soup. My wife always gets the combo that has meat balls and thin sliced beef. I always sneak a taste and it's quite good. The meat balls have a satisfying texture and the broth is very flavourful. Give these guys a try!

Hot Sour Soup...they could do better.

If you live in Scotts Valley you know you have choices for Chinese food. I believe this place has transitioned under two different management/owners in the recent past. Unfortunately, that transition has damaged the taste and quality of food. For example: their lunch specials. They will up charge you a $1.00 for rice (plain white rice) which usually, if you have ordered lunch specials before, comes with the main meal choice. I understand about up charging for soup or an egg roll but come on guys, up charging for "rice" on your lunch special? I went ahead and ordered the rice because what was I going to eat with my broccoli beef? If you go down the street to Chef Liu, the lunch special say $8.95, you get a complete lunch which includes the white rice and a soup. I also tried the Hot Sour Soup (add another buck) - seriously, this was so watery and barely had any tofu etc. They should stop with the nickle and diming - just create a price that includes a complete lunch. Rice and main entree for $8.95 or $9.95. Simple. Oh, one more note. Bring back the original recipe for the Chinese Chicken Salad which ABC Chinese restaurant in Scotts Valley was very popular and delicious.

Would eat here every day. Such amazing food! High quality ingredients (you can really taste the difference -- the shrimp are huge), consistently great cooking, all at reasonable prices. And ask about their gluten free options. I have celiac and I love their shrimp in lobster sauce.

Food is great as well as ambiance. Service a little to be desired. Rate at a 3. That's why a 4 not a 5

Although not a Vietnamese restaurant, the pho is actually excellent. The service and ambience are great as well.

Horrible service. Waiter completely inattentive, lackluster, and far too curt. Seemed resentful to be waiting.

Just to start, everyone we interacted with to place the order, pick up, and pay were extremely friendly. The order was packed well, utensils included as we had requested. Well it turns out we ordered a lot of cabbage salad but that wasn't a problem because of how fresh, crunchy, and flavorful it was. The peanuts and basil + dressing absolutely made something simple taste exquisite. I've never eaten so much salad in my life and I would happily go back for more. The shrimp were a little on the scant side, about 8 pieces sliced in half, so 4 whole shrimp, but they were extremely tasty. Nice marinade/seasoning and great char flavor. The skewers on the other hand were quite generous, each with 6-7 giant pieces of meat. They were delicious but what I appreciated the most was that they were still tender and juicy. A lot of restaurants par-cook skewers and then just reheat them for service, which dries them out -- almost certainly everyone has experienced this before. Not at JT. They were perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. I can't say that I've had a lot of Cambodian food, but if it's as good as this, that might need to change.
