Walking in at first, I…read morethought maybe the inventory was low and the shelves hadn't been put up yet, as I'm used to used book stores that have piles of books everywhere with boxloads of garage sale crap that one has to wade through like to find diamonds in the rough. I usually get a kick out of that feeling until a half-hour later when the weight of utter futility has set in and I realize, indeed, I'm not finding anything decent and I learn what it must be like to live in a Soviet-style dictatorship where someone has cruelly banned the Vonneguts and whatnot. That type of materialistic capitalist hoarding hasn't set in at this bookstore, and least not as-of the date I went last. They looked to specialize more in classics, notable modern authors, and well-reviewed contemporary works. Out of all the used book stores I've been to (a fair amount), this one is the furthest left on the quality-quantity balance, and that's not a bad thing. Prices seemed reasonable and the books look to be in good condition. Staff seemed chill and it sounds like they accept store credit if you have good material to give them (I have convinced myself that the bartering for property rights in material goods is for ironic purposes only). If you feel any comradeship with those with liberal arts pedigrees or are just one of those folks who needs more than potboiler books of the petit bourgeoisie, this place would be an excellent option. It just keeps going back further and further. Each section is divided into its own catergory which makes it easy to find what you want. I didn't find much in the clothing section because a lot of the stuff is old and not my style. But, in the other sections i found 5-6 items. my total was $3.25!! What a steal! Also the lady checking us out was beyond nice and was making conversation with us while checking out and shopping. i would come back to shop for baby clothes and toys!

Great selection of back issues, few for current, not many toys…read more This shop has some of that "classic" comic shop feel. Tons of long boxes for back issues that are well organized and spread out on tables throughout the shop's sections. Having grown up with comic shops in the 80's, this was a bit of a throw back. None of the trendy, hipster appeal. Just good ol' comic stuff everywhere. If you're a bargain hunter, this place isn't bad. They had several $1 boxes to loot through. The other back issues are decently priced and you can buy full runs at reasonable costs. The owner has several CGC comics and a few rarities behind the counter. If you were looking for something graded, I would call ahead, as he did not have very many. Speaking of, the shop can ship your comics for CGC grading, and is a little cheaper than doing it from CGC's site. The owner is friendly, talkative, and informative. He was very polite to my wife (who is not a comic nerd and is very quick to judge a place on how they treat her and its appearance). Which leads me to the area, which I usually don't remark on. The store is completely by itself, but is just down the street from Commercial street. After a healthy shopping trip to the comic shop, I like to read my latest finds over lunch or supper. Commercial has a lot of great places to eat OR drop off my wife so I can get uninterrupted nerd time. The largest complaint is that the selection of current issues was extremely limited. I realize this is to keep down costs, but I like variety and often pick up 2-3 titles I don't usually read out of curiosity. There was a display of consul games, and I overheard a customer doing a trade in. Have no clue about the prices or selection. There is no table top gaming supplies nor places to play, so if you are gamer this store is not for you. I will say, this is probably one of the better subscription services I have seen. Signing up for a sub means you get 50% off the back issues (great for me since I like filling in my collection) and a savings stamp card. "Spend X and get Y discount" stamp card. The toys are scattered and sparse. A few current Star Wars, some POP, a few oddities, but that's about it. More of impulse buys than anything else. The store has a counter for MTG and other card games, but limited display. I'm not a card gamer, but I saw several customers buying cards there. The owner had binders of cards for them to riffle through, which I assume from the haggling, were more common cards. In short, a decent comic shop. Not strong in any one dimension, but very balanced across many. I go out of my way to go to this store (mostly as selection in my area is absolutely sparse). Avoid if you are a gamer, but for a comic buyer, this place is pretty good.

I have used vintage for my comics for three years now. I have a pull list and they are great…read more Nearly everyone knows me by name, they have learned what authors and artists I like. The will even add books to my box if the cover is by a specific artist they know I like. If I don't want the book no pressure to keep it. Occasionally a book or two gets missed but I have 20+ books on my list and everyone makes mistakes.
