Abby's performing arts camp is one of the most family oriented camps I have ever counseled at. Abby teaches the children very important things about musical theater such as microphone etiquette etc. The kids also get to learn dances, memorize monologues, and learn not only how to embody a character but how to create costumes for that character. At the end of the week the kids then get to put their acting skills to the test and perform the monologue and dances they learned for their parents. Counselors get to have the joy of helping the kids enhance their acting skills while also learning valuable lessons on how to run and take care of an acting company. The kids also have a lot of fun learning acting games that will give them a chance to practice the skills taught in a family environment. Not only have I but most of the kids have made so many friends and enjoy every minute with ms. Abby. Ms. Abby creates a family environment where all the children can learn and have fun at the same time. My kids adore Mrs. Abby. They really enjoy her camps and my older daughter has been involved in a few workshops productions with Mrs. ABBY over the last 2 (almost 3) years. Abby has a contagious enthusiasm that inspires my kids. The price for these camps are very comparable to other kids camps and music lessons. As a parent, I have never felt like my kids were unsafe. The studio is small, but in a positive way. (Like quaint and cozy). I've seen Abby grow as a business owner over the last few years in not only facility, but in parent communication and scheduling. All in all, I'm glad to have stumbled upon her studio. If your looking for a big, structured, professional theatre experience for your kids, this might not be the place for you. Abby's Performing Arts is an amazing place for kids to learn music, musical theater, singing, and performing. My son has been going to camp here for years and he has also been doing private acting lessons. He just adores Abby and her staff. This summer he is a counselor in training and he loves it! Had the awesome opportunity to be involved in the first four weeks of summer camp this year and I loved every second of it. Teaching singing, acting, and dance routines is a passion of the entire team, and the kids always had so much fun and were excited to learn more. It was amazing to see not only the joy in the campers eyes when they walked off the stage of the Friday performance, but the support each of the campers had for one another- cheering on their friends. Dear mother of boy who likes makeup and wrote the 1 star review: It sounds like your son insisted on doing the girls activity, and liked it, and that bothers you. When my son was young enough to go to camps like this, he always chose the boys activity, so I can't relate to your situation. But if he had come home with makeup on, I probably would have chuckled and asked him to tell me about it. My daughter has been with Abby for 4+ years now. She has taken Piano and voice. She also has gone from Camp Counselor to helping Abby with the shows. When it was time for her to audition for Dreyfoos, Abby helped prepare her for that as well. Abby has always been supportive of all the kids in her care. Abby not only teaches Voice, Music and Acting, but she teaches the kids responsibility, respect and how to work as a team. My younger two also LOVE Abby's camps. My daughter LOVES Miss Abby!!!!! My daughter has Unique needs and I was scared to send her to camp. Abby welcomed her with open arms, and my little has been to many camps since. What a wonderful place for kids! My children have had THE greatest experience with Abby and her classes! Her affable personality is a huge draw to the kids creates a magical atmosphere for them to excel. I'd normally not think of growing Confidence in my kids through performing arts, but she is right!
