I am so glad I came across this place at the perfect time. The timing was just right. I just lost my feline princess almost 2 weeks ago. I had arranged for her to get an individual cremation at the American Animal Hospital in Queens. I wasn't comfortable with the hospital handling my girl's cremains to be brought back to me as they weren't comforting and were a bit insensitive, adding to my distress from already losing my baby. Two days later, I asked the hospital receptionist where they send pets to be cremated and she said, "Abbey Glen" in NJ. I was afraid Sorayah had already been cremated and thought it was too late. I punched the name in google and decided to call. I am so glad I did. I spoke with Carol Palladino, who I believe was a Godsend. Initially, I stuck by my original decision to have Sorayah's cremains brought back to the hospital for me to pick up. Thankfully the day I called Abbey Glen was the day they were going to pick up Sorayah. Carol offered to call me as soon as Sorayah arrived to give me a sense of peace. But I grew anxious and restless and something told me that I needed to see my girl one last time. So I hurriedly called Carol again, sobbing, asking if there was anyway I can see Sorayah before her cremation. She was super helpful and comforting and gladly arranged for me and my family to see Sorayah a week later and to take her ashes back with me that same day, after her cremation. Carol called me, early morning the next day informing me that Sorayah had arrived safely. Carol has no idea how helpful she has been to me and my family in a world where people in businesses are just rude, disregarding and just cold. It's very rare for an American Muslim family to come across people like Carol who handled every bit of detail with care and passion. In a world where kindness is scarce, we were very grateful to Carol and the Abbey Glen staff for handling the entire process with professionalism and compassion. They weren't just doing business- they were also very personal which made it all special. Sorayah's service was beautiful from start to finish. The place is also very beautiful and it was worth the 1 1/2 hours it took us to drive to see our little girl and take her back with us. The gentleman who placed Sorayah in the cremation chamber bowed his down out of respect which was a moving and emotional experience for all of us. And to top it off, the memorial park is breathtakingly beautiful. The waiting rooms also had a comforting and soothing touch. Everything was perfect. Sorayah was treated like royalty from the day she came into our world to the very last straw. I am glad my family and I had an extra 1/2 hour viewing time since we were there super early. We said 'good-bye' to our loving and precious Celtic Crème at the advent of spring. She was just three days shy of being 18 years and 7 months old. Even though we had been pushing for 19 years for Celtie on earth... God had a different plan for her in Heaven!!! We knew about Abbey Glen Pet Memorial Park through my sister. Her loving cat, "Miss Cali" Puff is buried near a beautiful sweeping cherry blossom tree. And now, our little toy poodle, Celtie is resting by her side. Carol, one of the arrangement specialists, is a woman who exudes inner peace and beauty. She shows such warmth and understanding for the grieving family along with deep respect for their loving pet. She truly treats you as a parent who not only lost their pet, but their child and she does this with such compassion. This is what Celtie was to us: not only our pet but our child for we were not blessed with children. Celtie came into our lives as a three-month old puppy and immediately filled that void. In fact, she was just five days shy of being three months old and gave us a lifetime of memories. Losing Celtie has been a tremendous impact on our lives. It's affected everyone around us including relatives and friends. Carol understood this and walked us through the entire process while explaining every little detail but without pushing us to make quick decisions. I picked out a lovely casket that I felt was perfect for Celtie... and it was. The viewing was so beautiful. Carol gave us a generous amount of time to say our good-byes to our Celtic Crème ~ our Celtic Dream who has all of her memories and our memories surrounding her in a bed of satin and lace. There was a framed paw print sitting on the stand on the left side of our Celtie. Carol quickly informed us that it is Celtie's front paw print. This immediately brought tears to our eyes... but oh, what a lasting memory. We learned later that Bill performed this labor of love. What a gentle man along with Eddie who gracefully laid our Celtic Crème, our Celtie... to rest. Also, "thank you" to Pat who saved the day for us a few days after we had already made preparations through Carol but realized a mistake in choosing the burial day. She quickly and graciously made all the change arrangements for us. To say that Abbey Glen is a beautiful and peaceful setting with a lush green landscape and a staff so caring... it would be an understatement. Words can not express the gratitude I have for the Abbey Glen staff. After losing Gizmo, my treasured cat of sixteen years, I used AG for the cremation and after services. They were very respectful and sympathetic throughout the entire process. I called multiple times a day (usually breaking down each time) to go over Gizmo's arrangements. Each time they were patient and understanding as I was overcome with grief. They called with updates regarding when they picked up his body and when he was cremated. This helped immensely as I found myself very distraught thinking about his remains. His ashes were ready in three and a half days which brought so much relief to my family and I. The building is clean and resembles an upscale funeral home. The property is beautiful. I was greeted and brought into a small room and given his urn, lock of hair, paw prints and some literature. Gina was so kind and empathetic while my emotions overcame me. They were absolutely wonderful during this whole process. I asked for an additional lock of fur because the one I received at the vet was not much, I bought two of the paw pad impressions which were more than worth the $10.00. I was able to give one to my mother so she has her own special remembrance of him. They give you a customary urn but I ordered one through the company; a beautiful cherry wood urn that has a picture frame in the front. The quality is spectacular and I'm very pleased with it. As for the financial aspect, I found them to be very affordable and expected the costs to be much more than they were. I have had friends and family pay double what I did and not receive half the quality of care. I appreciated that the billing took place prior to picking up his cremains so I did not have to worry about that when I arrived and received everything. If you have to let go of a pet you have Loved , and that has Loved you for twelve years, it is one of the hardest things to do in life. Everyone knows it's inevitable, but we never think that day will come. When it does it is one of the most emotionally stressful times in our life. This past week I had to go through those feelings and preparations multiple times for my dog Roxy. Staying up with her all night, preparing for the agony of the next day is almost unbearable. The first two times my Vet (And he is the best), investigated and tested for every possible scenario that might keep her with us a little bit longer, without compromising her. Each new hope, each possible thought of a miracle, added another 100 pounds of stress and concern. This week was the emotional roller coaster that I feared the most. The only way I made it through was with the help and love and concern that I received from Roxdane Kennels (Orchard Hill or Abbey Glen). The people that run this operation are three dedicated brothers and their support staff. This is the Cooke brothers, Derek, Brian, and Kevin. I now their Dad, Dave is very proud of them. And I had the honor of knowing their Mom, who is now in Heaven, and still very proud of her young men. These are the people that helped me deal with what we as animal lovers know can be the hardest times of our life. I can tell you this for sure, no one, could have done more for Roxy and me, no one. Everyone at Abbey Glen is so incredibly kind and compassionate at all times. 11 years ago my kitty passed away at the vet's office. I remember calling to make sure she was cremated with the blanket I carried her in with. I was sobbing uncontrollably and I can't even put into words how kind the person was who spoke to me on the phone. This Tuesday my Gracie kitty passed away at home. I called first before I brought her to Abbey Glen to be cremated. Again, incredibly kind on the phone, as I spoke through tears. When I arrived, I was sobbing the whole time and there is nothing but compassion, concern for your well being, care and consideration shown to you and your beloved furry family member. It was the first time I was at Abbey Glen in person. The place and grounds are so beautiful they seem magical. It is obviously a place built purely on heart and love. You can feel it as you walk the grounds. I picked the beautiful triangular box that has the rainbow bridge poem, a place for a picture and the "final act of love" wording. It is all personalized, including the gold plate for the box. It's absolutely beautiful. I didn't realize they would engrave the plate for me as well. As heartbreaking as the reason why you are at Abbey Glen, it is the most beautiful, loving, magical, compassionate and breath taking place I have ever been. When it is my time, I would wish I could go there. There are no words to properly express how grateful I am to every person that helped me on the day I brought my Gracie and the day I picked her up again. We want to thank you for the service you provided us during a very difficult time. We lost our sweet "Smeagol" (named by our daughter when she was young and a Lord of the Rings fan), at the end of October. He was 16 and had been suffering with lymphoma for about a year. The end was very tough, but we were fortunate to have him pass at home while we spoke to him and petted him. We had meditation music playing in the background and his passing was peaceful. Nonetheless, it was traumatic for us. We just now picked up his remains from our veterinarian, Dr. Lofaro of Emerson Animal Hospital. Although we still have two kitties, we have had mostly dogs in our lives and our "Mimi" was our first "kitty loss." How touched we are that not only do we have the usual wooden box with a nameplate but you also included a little purple mesh bag with gold hearts on it. Inside, we see a white tag with his name on one side and "A Lock of Love" on the other; included in the bag is a small vial with some of our "baby's" fur. My husband and I sat in the car with tears in our eyes. Now, our "baby boy" (yes, we have kids and grandkids; we are not crazy!) is back home with us in time for Christmas with his two "kitty sisters." For those who may wonder why it took so long, it had nothing to do with Abbey Glen; the ashes were returned very quickly. We just didn't have the heart to pick them up until this week. One word. Amazing. Losing my pet, my boy, even after all the wonderful years we had together in on day is devastating. If you love your pet, you know there aren't words. My biggest fear was not getting his ashes back. I also thought they would come back in bag inside a plain tin can. It was all handled through my vet and I didn't know who handled the cremation until I pick up his ashes in a beautiful box with his name on it. Yes, I lost it. I then noticed that Abbey Glen handled the cremation and I wanted the know the date after seeing their website. The people who work there are beyond belief. Gail, one of the incredible associates took 45 mins of her time to talk with me, tell me the date they pick him up and the date he was cremated and their tracking method so they know the ashes are going back to the right owner. I couldn't believe the time Gail was willing to take to hear about my boy and share my loss. Just amazing. They can not do enough for you, even after their service is completed. I wouldn't recommend any other place. As far as the review from porkchop and Abbey Glen requiring a signature, I wouldn't have it any other way. What is they didn't require a signature and the box got stolen? "Porkchop.r" had the option to pick it up at UPS or at Abbey Glen. How would they have felt if they didn't get their pets remains back? I think the hardest decision I ever had to make was when I made the phone call to Eleo's Veterinary Services to have them make the dreaded house call. That was three years ago for my 7 year old German Shepherd dog Frankie. She had a horrible disease called Degenerative Mylopothy and was paralyzed. A few days after I received her remains in a lovely urn, I was driving to a party and passed the Abbey Glen Pet Memorial Park. I recognized the name from the touching sympathy card that came with the urn. I pulled into the park and walked around. It was the most peaceful place I had ever visited. And I've traveled the world. I read the headstones and saw how everyone else adores their pets. This past week I was faced with that horrible decision again, for my 13 year old German Shepherd Dominique who had the same disease. When I received her urn yesterday, it came with a name plate. I cried and placed it with my other pets. I did not have an urn for my dog Crystal, who passed away in 1990, just a tin box. I called Abbey Glen and asked if I could purchase an extra urn and name plates for Frankie and Crystal. They were so kind and sympathetic, told me that the names were something they recently started adding, and they will send me everything I asked for as a gift! The moment we realized that we needed to make a decision about our beloved sixteen-year-old "Boy Cat" a true part of our family and such a love, we began looking for a way to manage his aftercare.... We were fortunate to find information about Abbey Glen. I can tell you that from the moment we arrived at the Abbey Glen with our deceased cat we were immediately greeted by Pat who had stayed late for us, a truly compassionate and supportive individual. We felt such a sense of peace and tranquility at the facility and the surrounding, beautifully adorned grounds. We were then directed to the Crematory with "Boy Cat". Sam was waiting for us and escorted us inside. He was so kind and patient and also had stayed late to accommodate us. He let us have all the last beautiful moments with our "Boy Cat". He never once rushed us . We felt so comforted leaving "Boy Cat" with Sam knowing he would be treated with dignity and respect during the cremation process. i want to take the time to thank the wonderful people at abbey glen. my little pet cat "baby" passed away in the early morning hours of sunday april 17. 2016. she was 15 years old and it was expected because she was ill for quite some time. when i said goodnight to her on saturday night i knew it was close. she spent the last 6 months or so of her life on a bed in what became her room. i contacted abbey glen on sunday and although the office was closed there was a cell phone number to call. thats when i met pat. i told her what i wanted for baby and she took care of all the arrangements. on tuesday april 19, we had a service for baby so i could say my last goodbyes. i picked her up and hugged her and kissed her for the last time. then she was privately cremated. i picked out a nice little box for her. pat was also kind enough to give me baby's paw prints in a nice little container. . everything was perfect. doing this for baby has given me some closure although i think it might take awhile for me to heal .i adopted baby when she was 10 years old so we had only 5 years and 1 month together. it went by to fast. again, my sincere thanks to pat and all the other people at abbey glen for being so kind and taking such good care of baby. my life without baby will never be the same. read more

I am back in our empty-feeling home after picking up our beloved Deazle's cremains from our vet's office. This has been an absolutely awful week for my wife and myself, and I must say that removing our best boy's casket, card, the vial with his fur and the paw-print impression in clay has given us the first bit of comfort we have felt since his death. We have had each of our previous dogs cremated after death and we are stunned at the professionalism with which the Abbey Glen Pet Memorial Park in Livingston NJ has handled Deazle's precious cremains. We both simultaneously felt that Deazle had been handled with dignity and respect and that the folks at Abbey Glen Livingston took care of him knowing how treasured and important he was. Of course, they don't know us and never knew or met Deazle, yet it feels to us that they treated his remains as if he was a part of their family. Perhaps this is grief talking, but I don't think so. I believe that this organization truly understands the importance and power of the work they do and are committed to doing it well. Our pet Shadow was a member of our family for 14 years. Abbey Glen cared for Shadow in a respectful way that meant the world to us. We were present for his cremation service and we stayed for the entire process. It was amazing! To know that our family member was treated with such dignity gave us a sense of peace and closure to our devastating loss. So for many of us pet owners that have to say goodbye, burying them in the back yard is not always an option. For us, we choose private cremation. I always wondered if it was really "private." Well I am here to say Abbey Glen pet cremation is the real deal. Before Hannah was saved from a kill shelter in SC, she had been shot with BBs. When we adopted her, we took her to the vet for a check up. Xrays revealed she had many, many stainless steel pellets in her abdomen. There were a few in her face that we had removed. The vet said since they were stainless steel, she could live a happy, normal life. Removing them all would be to evasive. He was right. She had 15 wonderful years with us. Back to Abbey Glen. Being the skeptic I am, I was curious. I picked up her ashes yesterday and opened the box today. I took a powerful magnet and ran it across the bag. Sure enough, pieces of metal attached to the magnet. So I really have my girl. Wonderful to know they are a trustworthy business that cares about grieving pet owners. Kudos, Abbey Glen!!! We had the unfortunate experience of the unexpected death of our English Bulldog, Bob. Bob was a member of our family. We had him since he was eight weeks old. My daughter taught him how to walk up and down the steps with his tiny little paws. Each birthday was celebrated with a dog cake with candles. The holidays were special for him because he loved opening up his gifts. He was a very special soul. Never would we have thought we would hurt so much. After he passed, a friend told me wonderful things about the Abbey Glen Pet Memorial. She was absolutely right. They made the entire process smooth and effortless. They guided us on our options and comforted us during this untimely loss. Their buildings are situation on beautiful property. Better, their buildings are so unique in itself; beautifully decorated and just as comforting as their staff. I can't say enough wonderful things about their staff. I have been using this Abbey Glen Pet Memorial for years now. I prefer to do the attending cremation. Everything is done here with amazing respect and love. The staff here go above and beyond anything I have ever seen. Over the last 13 months I have lost 3 dogs, Frankie, Lily and Lani. Staff member Crystal has always been helpful and supportive to me, always there with kind words and true feelings of caring for me and my pets. When Lily passed, I came here and unbeknownst to me I was driving on a flat tire so when I pulled into the parking lot someone mentioned it to me. Staff member Kathy came out and immediately assisted me with using an air pump to try and refill the tire. Ended up needing to change the tire so staff member Rick did the changing for me. These people went above and beyond to help me in my time of need. I find peace knowing that my pets are cared for properly and lovingly by all the people here at Abbey Glen. Our precious Zoe Jane passed away suddenly on Sunday. We contacted Abbey Glenn and were told to bring her in the following morning. Pat met us at the door, and was as kind and compassionate as we could ever have hoped for. She answered all of our questions and we were assured that Abbey Glen would treat our baby as she deserved to be treated. We met Eddie, who was waiting at the crematorium to meet us and take our sweet baby. Eddie too, was kind and compassionate, and although we had never spent one single day without our girl, we left Abbey Glen confident that we brought her to the best possible place for her creamation. Before we left, Eddie gently took each of Zoe's Paws and made imprints in a special case that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Our Sweet Zoe Jane's ashes will one day be buried there, and we will have peace knowing Abbey Glen will be her final resting place. On May 24 2020 we lost Buju, our 13 year old dog. A day earlier he was his usual self; rambunctious, energetic, running around like a nut! In a matter of hours that all changed, he started having problems breathing and couldn't move, his health deteriorated very quickly... because of the long holiday weekend we had to take him to the Newton Animal Hospital - open 24 hours a day. Buju was diagnosed with heart failure, there was nothing we could do, he had fluid in his lungs. It was a terrible day and we didn't want to say good-bye but we didn't want him to be in pain or discomfort either; Buju was euthanized. Newton Animal Hospital informed us of Abbey Glen and their wonderful services, we accepted as we wanted Buju to be cremated. A few days later I went to pick him up and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a beautiful bag from Abbey Glen with a heart-warming poem and Buju's remains in a very classy box with his name on it. Although we didn't make an appointment we were lucky enough to be seen right away. We sat down and went over our options and decided on doing a viewing along with the cremation. We weren't sure at first if the viewing would be possible but they were able to make room for us. We were relieved as we had just driven from NY. Everyone was extremely kind and compassionate throughout the whole process. Great care was taken in the handling of our beloved pet. Vinnie did an amazing job setting up the viewing and our pet looked at peace. That is exactly what my family needed to say goodbye. After the viewing we left to have lunch and returned about 2 hours later to pick up his remains. When we returned everything was ready to go. I can not say enough about how kind everyone was. They were great and the entire place is just beautiful. They made this whole process so much easier and allowed my family the closure we needed. I will not trust my pets with anyone else. read more
