I implore you DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO THIS PLACE! My dad had pneumonia, became very weak from sitting in the hospital for 10 days and needed to go to rehab. Unfortunately he did not qualify for the acute rehab so we had to send him to a skilled nursing facility/rehab. I chose abbey Delray south because it was rated 4 out of 5 stars by Medicare. I went there, met with Rose Maggie (she gave me such a snow job) the admissions director, and toured the facility. It looked clean, the gym looked nice and I was told my dad would receive an hour a day of pt plus other activities. My dad was transported there and I should've realized from the beginning that this was not good when no one came to meet with us for the actual admission. I left many messages for Kesler Thelemaque, the administrator but he only returned 2 of my calls. He promised me he would go visit my dad. He did not. There was a list of phone numbers on a bulletin board outside my dad's room. I took a picture of it and called everyone on that list. No answers and no return calls after leaving many messages. Although they promised to do my dads laundry they didn't and he sat in a nasty hospital gown until we realized what was happening and did the laundry ourselves. Finally they are so short handed on the weekends, my dad was seldom looked in on and spent many hours sitting in his own feces. I finally hired private transportation to get him back to the hospital we like. THIS WAS A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. If you love your person do not send them to this shit hole.

Ankle wound that I discovered on my husband while he was in skilled rehab.

I'm sure their retirement condos are great, but I had a very bad experience with my husband in skilled rehab at Abbey Delray South. The therapists were wonderful, but some of the nurses and aides were disappointing the way they looked after my husband. He went to their facility for skilled rehab (OT/PT/Speech) after having Brain Surgery in Oct. which left him paralyzed on his right side and affected his ability to speak. We were hoping this was temporary, but after 6 weeks of rehab, it was evident he was not getting better. My husband ended up getting a badly infected ankle wound while there which was not treated until I pointed it out to the head nurse. (They called in a wound specialist the next day) The nurses changed his pants and socks daily, so they must have known it was there. I only noticed it when I saw a bandage on his ankle with blood. They also changed his catheter which he pulled out. The new catheter inserted left him in terrible pain. I hope other patients at the facility have better care than what I think my husband received there. My husband came home 2 days after his ankle wound and then died 2 weeks later while in home hospice. I'll always feel guilty wondering if staying at Abbey Delray made things somehow worse for him.

The previous ownership…read more(affiliated with Abbey Delray South) provided a stimulating calendar of events, but most importantly they had a trained chef in the kitchen who prepared well-cooked meals using mostly fresh ingredients. Menu options were varied and nutritious. Since becoming Cascades, the quality of the meals has taken a nose dive. Fewer choices, smaller portions, vegetables often bathed in strange yellow oil, and regular use of processed meat products masquerading as real food. Management says they're taking resident's concerns into consideration and that things will improve, but it's only gotten worse month by month. It's been almost 3 weeks since the kitchen was shut down due to a cockroach infestation. There's no excuse as to why this problem has not been resolved at this point. In the meantime, residents have to deal with extremely limited menu choices and small protein servings. A recent brunch offered nothing but hard-boiled eggs, orange juice, and unthawed frozen waffles. A couple of weeks ago residents were served takeout pizza. For the New Year's Eve dinner main dish, residents were given a choice between a pressed turkey sandwich or a pressed ham sandwich. Each building has only one elevator, and in recent months it's sometimes taken up to a week to repair a broken elevator. This has left some residents on upper floors with no options to leave their apartments for days at a time. Long-term residents have been moving as a result of all this. Many residents don't have the means or the support to move to a different residence. Think twice before moving your loved one into this facility.

They are really bad down to the bone, but the lieing about them prevented me from getting competent care. After a week in the hospital, he was moved to Isles of Boynton where they are healing. If I was litigous I'd call a lawyer.

The interiors were all redone and decorated beautifully. My only complaint is that the hallways dont have handrails. Some apartments are a long way from the elevators and residents may need to hold onto something for balance and mobility. Many have electric scooters and more have walkers to assist them. Personally, I wouldn't mind living there as well, when the time comes. I miss HE and the wonderful residents I too became friends with over the years.

There are significant safety and maintenance concerns that appear to be routinely ignored. The building is in a state of clear disrepair, with needed repairs left unaddressed. Sanitation conditions are unacceptable; bathrooms and floors are frequently dirty, and there is a persistent and concerning presence of mold and mildew throughout the facility. Most alarming is the apparent neglect of residents' fundamental care needs. Basic hygiene is not consistently provided, with residents reportedly going without regular showers due to staff inattention. This represents a failure to meet even minimal standards of care and raises serious concerns about regulatory compliance and oversight. The overall condition of the facility--both in terms of physical environment and quality of care--reflects systemic mismanagement. Prospective residents and their families should approach this facility with extreme caution and strongly consider alternative assisted living and memory care options in the West Boynton area that provide appropriate standards of safety, cleanliness, and resident care.

Architecturally, it is perfect for our elderly. Everyone gets his/her own bedroom with a private bathroom shared by two "suit-mates.' The premises are clean. I heard that no one got Covid-19. If you see the facility, you can understand why. Residents are separate and group activity work is in small groups. Going forward, it is my hope that it will be a great experience for Mom. My disappointment was in the overall admissions process. Tina, the salesperson is fantastic as is Chantel, the memory care director. Anna in nursing was nice. Most of the individual directors are great. What was missing was a coordinated admissions process. Each new resident should be assigned an admissions coordinator to introduce the family and resident to all the individual directors. We were told to come to a meeting when Mom was admitted. I envisioned all the directors present; but instead we met with a disgruntled employee in the nursing department. She made us feel like we were wasting her time. She took the meds that we dropped off and that was basically it! Since then, I have been over there about five times to meet with five different people concerning Mom's plan. Monday I meet with PT. Today, I had to go back to nursing to drop off her supplementary vitamins. Tomorrow I have to meet with the plan coordinator. This afternoon I have to meet with Anne at the front desk to coordinate her furniture delivery. I believe that this process should have been better organized. We had to wait two weeks for her medical paperwork to be finalized; meanwhile we had Mom at home and were paying the facility and home health aides. I hired two CNA's to help Mom with the transition. Thank God I did this because one of the staff aides didn't even know she was there. Mom was so disoriented that she pooped in her pants, something she never did before. Again, I was thankful I had my aides there. It is a difficult transition for us. After feeling so comfortable with Tina...the sales rep; now I feel very insecure about my decision to admit her. Hopefully things will ironed out as she settles in. I am grateful for the first full night's sleep that I have had in years since Mom was admitted!

The owner is an RN, and her brother is the administrator so they deliver personal care on a high level, as it is their own family business, not part of a chain with a manager. I have heard complaints about other places that they plop the elder in a wheel chair and ignore them all day, or the institution is so big that the elder cannot get around unless they are in a wheel chair. But this facility is a home, and the workers are always on duty, the kitchen looks out to the sitting area so there is always supervision with an atmosphere of group living. I am happy that my father spent his last days at the Villa of Kings & Queens of Delray.

Before the change of hands, the residence had a food service manager and a chef, both pros, who turned out simple but nutritionally balanced and appealing meals for over five years. The new management has done an admirable job of renovating and remodeling the facility, but they immediately began gutting the food service budget. Things bottomed out in late 2022 when a spate of food poisoning affected a significant percentage of the residents. Shortly after, they attempted to pass off pressed, processed meat products as chicken cordon bleu and beef brisket. The turnover in the kitchen has been constant, with no chef or sous chef lasting more than a few months, most of them unqualified. Last summer they found a chef who was truly committed to quality, but he left in frustration, since food sourcing and menus are dictated by corporate. In my recent visit I was served a salad in which most of the lettuce was browning, and the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being tasteless mush. Recently, the dish of the day has become increasingly unhealthy : sausage, pork fried rice, and cheese blintzes. There seems to be little consideration for the dietary needs of an aged demographic. Starting a year ago, many residents have resorted to ordering hamburgers every night, as they perceive this as the only safe option. When confronted with meal-related concerns, local management are condescending and dismissive, and while the corporate VP offers assurances, nothing fundamentally changes. It's clear that they just don't care. What should be a moment of conviviality with friends, has now become a source of apprehension. If you're considering living here, or placing your loved one here, please forgo the private lunch that is offered, and instead ask to eat in the late afternoon with the residents, so that you can see what they are being served for dinner.

The daily options are uninspiring. Breakfast isn't bad but until recently coffee was served in a paper cup and even the silverware is not good quality . My parents are living there and I am so disappointed in the way the dining room is run . I heard a few years ago the chef lived on premises and the food was good. Now that Verena took over they must be looking to cut costs and it's adversely affecting the residents' enjoyment in living there, not to mention it's unhealthy. I hope this gets addressed by management soon.
