I've visited Spain 7 times (touring many cities in many hotels) and this is probably the most…read moreuncomfortable hotel I've experienced, including a fleabag hostel my cheap friend insisted on staying at in Madrid as college students! This was one of few options during Semana Santa, and I can see why it was left with available rooms when everywhere else was booked. I appreciate Spain's conservation efforts but the "nicer" the hotel we stayed at (in terms of their accredited stars), the worse they were about being stingy with towels and air conditioning. I missed getting a photo of it, but there was a conservation guilt-trip note in the bathroom here. I've seen this other places in the world over the past decade. It's really beat by now--I conserve a lot in my home life and while on vacation, I don't need guilt trips. As with many hotels, when you're in your room and insert your key to turn on electricity, only then will your AC activate. It would go for a while and then turn itself off, and stay off! By the middle of the night, our room was so uncomfortably hot i woke up over and over, and had a terrible night's sleep both nights of our stay. Additionally, there was construction nearby that woke us up at 8:45am despite needing to sleep in due to the horrible night's sleep from their stingy AC. Enjoy your knees banging against the wall to sit on the toilet. It is like 9" away from the wall crammed into a space smaller than a phone booth! I also had to crawl my hands up the wall like Spider-Man every time I stood up. The window opened completely allowing multiple adults to fall out at once. No screen nor guardrails nor device to limit how far open it goes. This is a huge safety concern with children and we were on the SIXTH FLOOR! There was also some weird way they made the beds so that the sheet and blanket didn't line up and you had to undo the entire bed to get access to covers, which then undid the non-fitted bottom sheet that would slide around and get caught up in a mess. Just thoroughly unpleasant. Sheets and rug were stained in multiple places. They'll probably say that's saving the planet. Pros? The hotel staff were friendly, it was in a central location, and the fridge was a decent temp. We didn't bother to ask for AC assistance because we wasted a lot of time getting nowhere at a similar hotel in Cordoba (it's a fixed system to do this), and even the Parador we stayed at in Cazorla was the same bs with AC going off in the middle of the night to cook you out of bed every unpleasant morning. Put your damn AC on all night and leave it on!!! It's hardly going to kill the planet if you add 4 more hours of AC! We couldn't wait to check out!

This hotel claims to be 4 stars but I wouldn't even give it 3. Honestly it's whip cream on a pile…read moreof boo-boo. It's advertised as the perfect spot but lacks many of the modern day standards. The only pro is the location. It's located smack dab in the middle of Granada and everything is a 10-20 minute walk away. The location is the only reason for the 2 star rating. But there are many cons: 1. Overpriced and for the amount they charge you might as well go for one of the expensive hotels in town. There's NO deal here! 2. Their idea of a queen size bed is putting 2 full sizes right next to each other. If you plan on sleeping w/ your partner it's a joke. In the middle of the night I rolled over to kiss her and almost fell through the middle. 3. The only outlet in the room is located in the bathroom. Not one outlet anywhere else! To charge your phone, computer or anything for that matter, you have to unplug the hairdryer in the bathroom. 4. The bar and restaurant are a joke. Waited at the bar for 15 minutes to get a drink. During that time I watched 3 groups walk out of the restaurant because the wait was too long. One of the 3 groups walked out of the restaurant rolling their eyes and told me to go somewhere else. They had been seated for 20 minutes waiting for someone to take their order. The bartender kept saying to me " just one minute" as he kept going back and forth to the restaurant. I think the bartender is also the bell hop, room service delivery, waiter and probably the cook LOL. 5. Air conditioning barely works and only has 3 levels (1. Barely on, 2. I think it's cold air 3. Yeah I guess it's on). The heater is an old school boiler style and centralized. Luckily it was a hot day but I know it gets cold in the winter in Granada. I can only imagine how crappy their centralized boiling heat would be. Be aware, this building is incredibly old but advertises as state of the art. Definitely a tourist trap!

David, a front desk attendant, was super friendly and gave us super helpful recommendations for modes of transportation, restaurants, and other activities. And he was just always warm, kind, and patient with our many requests. Juan, one of the waiters during breakfast time, was always so patient and timely with our requests. We kind of felt we established relationships with the staff at the end. The hotel is beautiful. You feel like you are in Spain in the hotel. The plaza is so peaceful to have a meal or just to relax. The are several beautiful rooms and the hotel has a interesting history. The rooms are comfortable. I liked the bathroom because it's spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The only thing to consider is that only one hotel room has an outdoor space. We had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was good. Food was somewhat flavorful but again, the ambiance is fantastic and relaxing. Service was warm, patient, and timely. This is one of the few breakfast places nearby that provides comprehensive choices and an American style breakfast. The breakfast is tasty. The price includes both a buffet and menu choices. The only slight concern is the breakfast is approximately $30 per person which is very expensive compared to other options in the area and outside the area. I strongly recommend for any visitor to Granada to consider this hotel.

We arrived before our room was ready, so we were able to leave our luggage and come back. Before we left, the lady at the front desk went over the map with us in great detail, pointing things out, showing us where to catch the bus, and so on. She also showed us to the 'living room' on the fifth floor, which has some couches, tables and magazines. But the highlight is the patio, which has a view over the city facing the Alhambra. There are also a few tables and chairs outside, so it would be a great place to read or catch up on writing in your travel journal, or just to relax. Our room was big, our bed was big, and our bathroom was big. We both had a good sleep that night. We paid in advance when we booked and got 15% off the room. We had to leave early in the morning before breakfast started, but they do offer it for 6,95 EUR per person. Like I said, we were only in Granada for one night, but the location seemed great and quite it would be quite easy to get anywhere you wanted to, or there is lots to do in that area as well. The reception staff also ordered a cab for us in the evening to take us to the airport the next morning. The only negative about that was, as she was telling us our options, she said the aiport bus took 45 minutes, and a cab also took 45 minutes. In reality the cab only took 15 minutes, so we could have gotten that little bit of extra sleep in the morning!

A careful renovation of an old palace has crafted a charming estate with picturesque balconies, stately fountains, and elegant furnishings, though its amenities are modern, sleek, and state-of-the-art. We checked into Hospes Palacio de Los Patos on a Thursday afternoon for our one-night stay - the lobby was quiet, and we were immediately greeted by the hotel's concierge, who spoke fluent English as well as Spanish. She pointed out some of the city's popular tourist attractions (namely la Alhambra and the Albaicín neighborhood), and then guided us to our rooms, which were located in a separate building. You can either take an elevator down and walk underground through a tunnel beneath the two buildings, or walk through an outdoor plaza with a bar to access the hotel's restaurant and elevators to the rooms. We had booked two rooms - one with a queen-sized bed, and another with two full-sized beds. The rooms are bright with natural light and have large windows overlooking the plaza area between the buildings. Everything is very modern, but we found that some of the room's amenities prioritized style over substance - for example, the showers were beautiful, but didn't drain well, as there's no slope for the water to drain into, the bathtubs were oddly shaped and not very functional, and the state-of-the-art door locking system didn't always work, leaving us locked out of our rooms on multiple occasions. However, the complimentary white wine, chocolates, and mixed nuts we were provided were a plus! We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, but it looks like an upscale option with a wide variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as room service. You also receive a complimentary hour's use of their spa/sauna - I didn't take advantage of this, though the rest of my family members said that it was quite luxurious! Additionally, when our flight to Barcelona was canceled before we checked out, we were very impressed with how our concierge booked us on a train to Barcelona within fifteen minutes. We were impressed with how efficient and professional she was! Apart from the minor technical difficulties and the fact that it's definitely on the pricier side, we really enjoyed our stay at Hospes Palacio de Los Patos - the building is beautiful and in a great location, service is absolutely stellar, and I would say that it's worth the splurge if you're looking for an upscale hotel in the area.
