Before considering this escrow company, be aware there's a government action alert from the…read moreCalifornia Department of Business Oversight stating that this escrow company has allegedly violated several California laws, see attached screenshot and the BBB link below. With this said, and from the 1 star reviews plus our personal experience, I believe most of the 5 star reviews here are from individuals that have conflict of interest (mostly investors and real estate agents). As everyone else has stated, Donia is not communicative and does not follow up with your case. She does not return phone calls or e-mails in a timely matter unless you're extremely persistent about it. The first red flag appeared when we noticed our closing cost was more than the final estimate she provided (seems like they were trying to sneak it past us by not mentioning it). After we asked about it, She stated that it was just a "cushion" in case they go over and most of the time it would be returned. That "cushion" was never returned and when we called to ask about it, she claimed that it was mostly spent on other items. Items that were not revealed or clarified. After looking more thoroughly at our closing documents, we also noticed several exorbitant fees that made no sense (i.e. "e-mail doc fee" for $100). At the very least, they could have updated us and explained to us where these fees are going. As another reviewer pointed out, our HOA company did not received the payments that we already paid Donia for - causing us to be late for account establishment and future payments. The HOA didn't even know we existed since Donia didn't bother reaching out to them. She stated that she did, but I doubt it since I was able to easily contact the HOA without any problems. If I hadn't initiated a conversation with the HOA in time, then we would have been charged months' worth of late fees. Here's the kicker, even after I told Donia that the HOA has not received payment, she assured us she would re-issue payment and e-mail them that day. But of course she didn't until I followed up AGAIN (twice in fact) a week later. A legitimate escrow officer should ensure that all checks and accounts have been cleared and completed before closing the buyer's file. Clearly this was not the case. If you go with this escrow company, you will need to do Donia's work for her by initiating and following up with every source that requires payment. Make sure everything is documented in writing because what she says on the phone does not reflect the actions that have been taken (or not taken in most cases). Here's more information about the pending government alert for anyone interested: https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/encinitas/profile/escrow-services/san-dieguito-escrow-inc-1126-172021085/details#all-alerts

I had a few problems getting my tax returns back in time for the sale of the house I had already put a offer on. When they excepted my offer Javin made sure they would extend closing for me. Every time a week went by & we ran over our extension she some how got them to extend again! Home buying is super competitive in SD and she helped me get the house I wanted with a VA loan. There were 10 offers or so on the house - I'm pretty sure I should have been last choice. I've lived in my house for almost a year now and she is still helping me out with many things. I've asked her for numbers of contractors to issues I have had with my neighbors about a easement. She is always there, helpful and super knowledgeable about everything real estate and more! Thank you Javin for always being so patient and kind :)

My wife and I were first time home buyers and we really did not know much about purchasing a home…read more Javin took a consultative approach and clearly let us know the home buying process and what documents would be involved. My wife and I had many (and I mean many!) questions on all the documentation from putting in an offer, to escrow paperwork, to the final sale. She looked at many homes with us throughout San Diego and was able to provide great insight on various characteristics of a home that we would have overlooked or would not be aware of. The house we put an offer on was a short sale and by no means was it "short." There were many parties involved with the short sale so as one could imagine there could be a lot of miscommunication and delay. Not in this case. Javin and Bri were on top of all parties involved to make sure the short sale would go through. In particular, over the holidays she was able to gather the necessary details to provide to the bank who owned the home. We only had a 2-day window and it was the end of December, but Javin was able to get it done and pulled through amazingly! We are now proud to say that we are owners of this home and it was well worth the 6-month process!

Thank you, Nick for the showing. Five star service all the way! Very pleased with the results.read more

The most unprofessional and unethical company I've ever dealt with…read more My unit's only bathroom became unusable after the toilet was removed for repairs, leaving me without a functioning bathroom for an extended period. Despite repeatedly notifying management and requesting updates, the bathroom was still out of service when I ultimately vacated and returned my keys. I later learned repairs continued well after I moved out. I documented the conditions, communicated everything in writing, requested mediation, and repeatedly attempted to resolve the matter professionally. I ended up being falsely charged for time when the unit was unhabitable. Harland should be investigated for their conduct through the proper channels of property and state law regulators. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution prospective tenants considering this management company. Representatives at this office will avoid taking phone calls and providing any service. Devon will ignore portal questions and try to change contract terms on a whim, completely unprofessional. La Jolla and San Diego is a small community, and I will make sure my friends, associates, and contacts in the local real estate community are aware of my experience so they can avoid Harland Property Management and Mr. Kayvon's fraudulent business practices . Additionally, see the attached photo of a message they sent out requesting any maintenance requests for their properties to be held for a month because they're "too busy", enjoy dealing with that level of service.
