Even entering in the lobby was less copycat same old same old, and closer to elegant home from bygone days.
Beautifully decorated with modern vision but retaining old world characteristics, it struck the perfect balance.
The iron gates at the entrance to the driveway when closed at night seem to settle the property into its own self-contained exclusive retreat. The grounds were immaculately kept and ideal for strolling.
The creaky wood floors, the stone stairs, the casement style windows. 18th and 19th century art, frescoes , and occasional chandeliers. And baby grand piano completed the immersion. The modern touches and accoutrements kept the Villa from being a tourist attraction only.
Because it was the beginning of the holiday season, the staff took their time decorating each room of the main areas with holiday decor and a beautiful Christmas display right off the lobby. Even outside the building and trees were decorated with white lights giving a warm glow to the property.
The wi-fi worked well, the beds were comfortable and the coffee / tea in the rooms was appreciated.
