Even entering in the lobby was less copycat same old same old, and closer to elegant home from bygone days. Beautifully decorated with modern vision but retaining old world characteristics, it struck the perfect balance. The iron gates at the entrance to the driveway when closed at night seem to settle the property into its own self-contained exclusive retreat. The grounds were immaculately kept and ideal for strolling. The creaky wood floors, the stone stairs, the casement style windows. 18th and 19th century art, frescoes , and occasional chandeliers. And baby grand piano completed the immersion. The modern touches and accoutrements kept the Villa from being a tourist attraction only. Because it was the beginning of the holiday season, the staff took their time decorating each room of the main areas with holiday decor and a beautiful Christmas display right off the lobby. Even outside the building and trees were decorated with white lights giving a warm glow to the property. The wi-fi worked well, the beds were comfortable and the coffee / tea in the rooms was appreciated.

It is absolutely gorgeous with elegant furnitures, collective articles, wall panels and crown molding. The decoration is stunningly beautiful. The staff is very friendly remembering your name and can tell you stories about the collective articles. The building itself was an elegant reminder of European history and culture. My stay there for a business trip was just fabulous. It wasn't super expensive for European hotel standard, euro 165 a night for a king size bed. If you visit during the week of Formula One race competition, it would be very hard to find a spot at this hotel if you do not book early (by the way, the hotel room is decorated with many Formula One photos). The good: -The room…read morewe got was huge - The room was mostly clean minus the moldy caulk in the shower - Located right across from the central train station The Bad: - A king bed to them is 2 small beds shoved together (that's not how that works) that was incredibly uncomfortable. -They had all AC turned off (saving money?) so my room was between 75-77F each night and made sleeping very difficult - The breakfast buffet they have is one of the worst. Their coffee is offensive to all of Italy. Completely unremarkable food that isn't worth the price. -For how big the room was, the shower was SO small. The handle was insanely temperamental and it's a few centimeters between getting burned to death or frozen. Overall I would not stay here again or recommend it.

Cold room in the winter The max temp the room can go is 24C when we called them to increase the temp they just said No! rudely. The room is cold even during the day and not needed to say coldest at night. I come from the US, and among all the hotels I went, this is the coldest among all!!! 2. Unfunctional radiator The radiator which warms the room is behind the curtains to when you close thecurtains at night, the warm weather would go outide. So cold nights!! Useless!!! 3. 2 twin beds sold as king bed They charged us for king bed when they put 2 twin beds next to each other. You cant even sleep in the middle as it is so uncomfortable. 4. Small sized trash cans We could not even find the rooms's trash can at first so small can under the table and dont let me start on the can they put at the bathroom sooo tiny.

Least favorite hotel we've stayed at within the hotels offered by British Airways. 1 glass to drink out of in the room. No ice anywhere. No air conditioning after October 1 (which was not disclosed) but the staff keeps themselves comfortable with A/C in their lobby. Restaurant only open 2 days in October (also not disclosed). Bar not open either. Rooms hot as hell. Impersonal attitude of the staff. There was much noise coming from certain citizens yelling for hours at night outside the hotel, and the military police were sitting outside watching one night. And then if that wasn't enough, we reserved a van (specifically asked for a van for 4 passengers with 4 large bags), and they gave us a small taxi wagon. We had to hold several pieces of luggage in our laps on the 1/2 hour trip to the airport. Completely unacceptable for what was advertised on British Airways as a 4 star hotel. We stayed 1 night in both Florence & Venice at Star Hotels during our stay, and they were both lovely with open restaurants, open bars, and good A/C.
