Although it isn't located near any tourist sites it is a 2 minute walk from the train and we rode that to get down to the center of Milan and back to the hotel, the walk was very safe. The hotel included breakfast that was pretty good and the hotel restaurant had good food as well. It is an affordable hotel if you're traveling in Italy and happen to need to stay in Milan.

Spending some $$ on a Gardner or landscaper would be an asset to this very old property. I am ok with a hotel that has some history and old world charm but this is just neglected. The room was spotless and very very clean however the furniture, carpet and fixtures could use some updating. Even if it's the same style of decor I would be very appreciative. As much as I tried to be discreet about exposing my room number to a lobby full of people the desk agent still insisted on repeating my room number out loud. I am a female solo traveler and take precautions because of this matter. Having my key propped up in plain sight of everyone and the agent telling everyone my room number is disturbing. Close to dining, a 10 minute walk to shops but this is a neighborhood and not a tourist area so expect to see locals going about their day and small family shops along the way. I felt safe, did not see any sketchy behavior and felt comfortable walking after dusk on a Sat night. Taxi to Linate is €32....

The location of the hotel was perfect, as it was situated at a midpoint. The facilities were excellent, as were the rooms. However, I encountered a couple of issues, and unfortunately, the staff that assisted me had a rather poor attitude. On the second night, I discovered that the room's safe was not functioning; it got locked, and I had to request assistance to have it opened. This happened on a Thursday night, and early Friday morning, I needed my passport, which was inside the safe, as we were going on a tour to Switzerland. I couldn't sleep, worrying if someone would arrive in time the next morning. Fortunately, they did, and the safe was opened just in time. Due to this incident, I decided not to use the safe again and instead left some money inside one of my bags. Big mistake! The night before my check-out (scheduled for the following morning at 6 am), I realized that the money I had left in my bag, around $700, was missing. That same night, I went to the front desk to speak to the hotel manager, but they informed me that since it was Sunday, there was no manager available until after the time of my planned check-out the next day. I asked what I should do, whether I should call the police or take other actions, and they responded with a very poor attitude, saying I could do whatever I wanted. In the end, I know my mistake was leaving something outside of the safe, but I didn't expect the staff to search through my bags looking for something to steal. The following day, I emailed the hotel manager, who apologized but essentially blamed me for not requesting a room change when the safe wasn't working. She also claimed to have tested the safe, stating that it worked, although it clearly didn't in my case.

I was deciding between the Novotel or the Crowne Plaza and opted for the Crowne Plaza and I slightly regretted my choice. The hotel is not located very close to the airport (it is a about a 10 minute drive). It is also very difficult to find if you decide to drive there (I used a GPS and like some previous reviewers also found it difficult to find). There is a free shuttle to and from the airport but do note that it is note available for early mornings. I was going to use it for my morning flight (had then already returned the rental car by then) but it had not started its service then so I had to grab a cab for €20. Inside the hotel everything is clean but it is apparent that the hotel was built a while back. The furniture is a bit dated and it feels like the hotel has seen better days. The front desk staff were mostly helpful and reasonably service-minded (I am then comparing to what I expect in Italy and not to the level of service I would expect in the US or the UK). I was upgraded upon check-in (not sure why) but I still felt that the room was a bit cramped with furniture. The room had the same feeling that the rest of the hotel - it had probably been very nice when it was built but now everything felt out-dated. The bed was ok not more. I am usually not bothered by noise but I felt that the air-con was very loud as well as the noise from the high-way (doubt that it was proper double-glass windows). It did not prevent my from sleeping well but I could not fall asleep right away. There was a desk where it was possible to sit down and do some work. The Internet was ridiculously overpriced but it functioned well. A mini-bar was in the room and a plus for the coffee and tea-making facilities as well as a complimentary bottle of water. The bathroom was nice and all the standard toiletries where provided and an extra plus for providing mouth wash in a small travel sized bottle. Do avoid eating anything at the hotel. I had the breakfast buffet and the hot food was appalling. The cold food was just plain boring (dry bread, and some strange tasting ham). The coffee was not very good but I have come to expect that from Italian hotels. For dinner I was intending on going somewhere else but it was a bit late for that when I was ready for dinner so I was going to try out the a la carte restaurant but it was of course closed for summer - had to

The quirky and original design, with high-quality cabinetry framed in aluminum studs, features good lighting and a very comfortable, radiant-heated bathroom with orange grout between light blue tiles. Enthusiastic, very courteous staff members could at times follow through more. (Cream for the in-room Nespressso coffee had to be requested three times, and the call from the desk for an early-morning taxi to Cadorna station for the Malpensa Express failed). The internal, courtyard-facing room was quiet, a blessing considering the construction noise on the external side. For the price, however, the room is too small, accommodating not even a reading chair. (A slightly smaller bathroom would have yielded a far more comfortable room.) Also not expected was the malodorous sewer gas from the bathroom sink (also encountered at the Hotel Ripa Roma). Is that a flaw in the Italian sanitation system? And as Rebecca H. of Westchester County observed on Oct. 24, 2022, the digital thermostat seems to have a mind of its own and doesn't retain the requested temperature, so that the room was often too warm.
