No need to search or ask for a Tax preparer, CPA. I have been going to Mr. Aaron Barlev for about 25 yrs and he has guided me to some tough times and has the knowledge of how to simplify your taxes and get to the point. Very friendly staff and always making sure you are ready and they work with your schedule. Aaron is always there to help you and always has been a very kind friend. His staff always greets me with hello and by my first name. They will never pressure you or does Aaron. I highly recommend you call Mr. Barlev and set an appointment to get your taxes right the first time and your returns are very quick. I thank him for all the years he has helped me, and he will help you. Call him and you will be glad you did. Sign, A very happy customer Hank Almanza loyal customer read more

This review is strictly for Aaron and not his staff. I have been coming here for years to get my taxes done and my last experience was not a good one. He was rude and didn't explain a thing while he was entering the information into his computer. Instead of actively helping me with my taxes and where I could save money or pay less taxes, he just performed data entry in front of me. Also his demeanor was less than professional and condescending when I explained the documents I gave to him. The tone was rude and not what I'd expected. I also am a new business owner and when I asked about the taxes related to my business he promptly interrupted me and told me I had no real business and people just go around saying they own a business when they don't. I didn't understand & told him I'd made actual sales- which makes me a business owner. I want to make sure everything is done by the books. Either way, there are many write offs he could have helped provide me for my business but he never did. Not sure if he just doesn't know what he's doing or likely, he doesn't care. I'm going to look into another accountant that will actually help me instead of one that charges upwards of $400 to watch him do data entry & treat you disrespectfully. I'd recommend looking into other accountants and not wasting your time and hard earned money here. I was a loyal customer for years, but not anymore. If he doesn't want/need my business then that is fine with me. read more

My experience with Aaron Barlev & Co. was awful. Aaron was my CPA for 2 years and I hired a bookkeeper from his office to reconcile my company's' books. After months of going back and forth with the bookkeeper, I discovered that she had not actually done any data entry or reconciliations but made massive Journal Entries to make her numbers "work". She manipulated my books in a highly unethical way. I was then contacted the day before the extension was about to expire, and told that if I didn't get them additional information immediately that my return would be late and I would get hefty penalties from the FTB & IRS. However, that was the first time I had ever received a request for more information after 8 months of working with the bookkeeper! In addition to that, the information they were requesting was already in their possession as they had done my taxes the previous year as well. So much for thoroughness. Fortunately, after a lot of going back and forth to prove that they failed to provide me the accounting services as they were hired to do, Aaron Barlev & Co. ended up paying for all the penalties and late fees incurred due to his failure to perform as contracted. That amounted to thousands of dollars. I do not recommend this practice for anyone who is concerned with accurate bookkeeping and timely tax filings. read more

Aaron, Kara and Christina have been our trusted accountants for almost 10 years. I am so grateful to them for helping a moron like me navigate the "world of numbers". Pretty amazing since I am an English teacher. When my husband had a crazy idea to start a business during the last recession, I was saddled with doing the books. Kara helped me set up my Quickbooks and off I went. I decided to try and do everything myself so we could save money. I had spent countless hours on the phone with the BOE and the IRS. I would agonize over tax forms that looked like Chinese to me. Two years later, I was sitting in Aaron's office with a letter from the IRS saying we owed 12K in taxes. I was a nervous wreck. Aaron picked up the phone. He had the IRS on speed dial. He was on a first name basis with whomever answered the phone. They chatted for 30 seconds, then he hung up and told me, "everything will be OK, we are going to handle it from here." And handle it they have. Every year since. Every form they prepare is clearly marked. Every paper is professionally done and easy to read. Clear directions are given on what to do, where to sign and when to send. Christina always reminds me when our sales tax is due. Jerome has cleaned up my books for me and helped me figure stuff out. What a relief to know you have someone in your corner who knows their shit. Aaron also helps us with financial planning for our young family. He always takes the time to explain...and re-explain what the hell I am looking at. He is very patient. He always reassures me that I can call with any questions, and he means it. Thank you to everyone in this office that helps us on a monthly basis to keep our business afloat. Hire Aaron Barlev & Co!! read more

Aaron has been my CPA for more than 35 years, when I was married, single, with both personal and corporate taxes. He and his staff are second to none. He is the best of the best. He is an excellent professional. I was audited, as a teacher, almost 30 years ago, because I spent a great amount of money on school supplies. He went 3 times and represented me. The results were No Change in taxes due. Aaron is not only personable, but also efficient, knowledgeable, reliable, detail oriented and always available. I, also, use his advice and extensive experience for my properties, a small business, and a corporation. He explains in detail any questions I have, always gets back to me in a timely manner. He works to get me the largest return on my taxes every year. His staff have been helpful, also. Freda has guided me with payroll taxes, forms, and is always available for questions. Aaron has assembled the best team to work for his clients. And they, also, have been available, polite, able to guide me. If you are looking for the best of the best CPA, Aaron Barlev, & Co. is the one. Because of Aaron, I feel confident about my taxes being accurate, on time, and paying the least amount. Thank you, Aaron, for your amazing professionalism. read more

Aaron has been a client of our Barber Shop for countless years and as we have needed help this past year learning Quick-books and getting on track with this new process his TEAM and especially Jerome have made themselves available to help us whenever we have needed assistance. I wasn't heard or respected here. I actually have been in tears over how disrespected I felt after being a loyal customer. If they don't want my business they can tell me instead of ignoring me.If you are young and looking for guidance... I wouldn't suggest this place. It appears to be more of a volume business. read more

Aaron started doing my taxes in 1973 -- that's right, this last Sunday Aaron completed his 42 tax filing for me and my family. His detailed review of my personal tax situation and continued knowledge of tax laws continues to be OUTSTANDING !!! Aaron always returns my calls in a timely manner and is always available to discuss tax issues with any personal decision that I am considering. Now, I met with Aaron on Sunday morning this last weekend to review my taxes. I received my returns back on Tuesday. Now that is prompt service. When you add that to the fact that he keeps current with tax laws, upgrades his tax programs to the most current and functional programs available -- I highly recommend Aaron Barlev. I have no idea whether or not Aaron ever reviews his Yelp comments, but if he does, Aaron, thank you for the many years of service and friendship that you have provided to my family. PS -- To echo some other comments that others have made on Yelp, Aaron is also most personable and he really does care... read more
