The Montessori approach at this school is nicely implemented, with a good balance of structure and play integrated throughout the day. There is a strong academic foundation while still allowing children the freedom to explore their creativity, build independence, and develop a genuine love of learning. The directors, teachers and staff are attentive and highly invested in each child's growth and development. In addition to academics, BHM offers an impressive variety of extracurricular opportunities, including sports, dance, art (and many more), which enrich the overall experience. Their curriculum also does a wonderful job fostering multicultural awareness which we really appreciated. In addition, the facilities and play spaces were consistently clean, well maintained and organized, which gave us great peace of mind every day. We saw tremendous growth in both of our children in the time they spent at BHM. They felt happy, supported and excited to learn every day. We would highly recommend BHM to any family looking for a well-rounded Montessori program.

My daughter attended Blackhawk Montessori from February 2025 - August 2025. We had to choose a…read moreschool quickly due to a short-notice move, and I appreciated that this school was quieter than others we toured (my daughter was sensitive to loud noise) and that it was close to our rental. During the first month, the directors consistently told us at drop-off that she was doing well. However, about a month in, we received a note in her backpack from a classroom teacher indicating that she had been struggling with distraction and listening since the beginning. I wish we had been given more honest and timely feedback from the start from the directors, as that mismatch felt misleading. At a formal parent-teacher conference two months in, we were encouraged to have her assessed for support through SRVUSD, as they felt she wouldn't be successful in an academic environment without extra help. We took this seriously and ultimately enrolled her in TK in our school district starting August 2025, where she underwent a full 60-day assessment. The results showed no learning concerns, and her TK teachers report that she's doing very well and is easily redirected when distracted. We had similar positive feedback from the after-school childcare team. After this experience, I spoke with three other moms that were in my daughter's Blackhawk Montessori classroom and learned their children had also received feedback around concerns with focus, excessive talking, or other similar behaviors. I think the school has expectations that may not align with typical child development, which can lead to excessive negative attention. That said, there were aspects I appreciated: - I liked Ms. Tania, one of the two main teachers in my daughter's pre-K classroom. She seemed balanced and firm, while also kind. My daughter liked her. - The school offered several paid enrichment programs (gymnastics, singing, soccer, dance, etc.), which my daughter consistently looked forward to. - As a full-time working single mom, I appreciated the longer care hours offered. There were also significant concerns: - The concerns with transparency and unrealistic expectations/negative attention noted earlier in the review. - My daughter reported that the other main pre-K teacher was "mean," especially toward the end of her time there when that teacher ran the smaller second summer session. Even nearly five months after leaving Blackhawk Montessori, my daughter still mentions that teacher and says she never wants to return, which is upsetting. - In retrospect, the six-hour school day (before childcare) was too long for her. She's done much better with the 3.5-hour school days that SRVUSD offers for TK/K kids. Overall, I've learned that my child does best in a warmer, more teacher-led environment. While Blackhawk Montessori had some positives, it was not a good fit for her, and she has done significantly better in both the schools she attended before and after her time here.

The teachers are incredibly caring, attentive, and patient--they really take the time to get to know each child and celebrate their unique personalities. Our kids were always excited to go to school, and it was wonderful to watch them grow in confidence, kindness, and curiosity. The learning activities are creative and engaging, mixing play with meaningful lessons that helped prepare them for kindergarten while still letting them be kids. As parents, we were especially grateful for the open communication and the genuine love the staff shows for their students. It's clear that the whole team puts their heart into creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. The facility is beautiful, btw! We can't recommend TLC highly enough. Right from the beginning, even before our child started school, Anju made sure we had all necessary documents, giving us ample time and accommodating our busy schedule. About the school and its activities: The team is fantastic, and the teachers are well-educated. There are tons of activities, all following a curriculum-oriented approach. We receive daily updates on books read (in case we want to share them at home), songs sung, circle time, outdoor play, and fun indoor activities when the weather doesn't allow outside time. Our daughter spent nearly 3 years here and loved every minute of it. - The teachers are warm, loving and kind. The teachers are well qualified, have experience and low turnover rate! - The school is one of the most diverse we've seen in the 10+ schools we've toured. - Low student to teacher ratio (48 kids to 7-8 teachers) - Facilities are clean and they have access to the indoor ballet studio (for their extremely hot or rainy days) for indoor play. They also have an indoor structure and outdoor space during recess. - They are more academic than some preschools (in a good way), they work with each child at their level and keep detail logs of where each child is at. Our child did really well with this method and she's at least 1-2 years ahead in reading and math. - They do STEAM and bring in outside community sources and parents to demonstrate different occupations (ie police, firefighters, doctors etc). They get plenty of arts and crafts throughout the day and lots of play time as well. - They foster kids to be independent and allow them to do things on their own. - You provide lunch, the school provides 2 healthy snacks - am and pm. Our experience is not unique, many families that we are still in touch with have all felt the same way about this school. Many of us came from other preschools and appreciate all the love and care they provide to all of our kids.

But this goes to show how wonderful they are because I didn't even know my daughter could read chapter books . She can also do 3-digit additions, 2 digit subtractions! Ms Lena and Ms Seema are so pro and always respond to my messages quickly. Great communications! The teachers are all so kind and loving and deserve all the awards in the world. They really care about your child!! Most importantly - the friends my daughter had!!! All the parents were A+ they are so kind and fun to hang out with. The teachers give him space to be silly and can also authoritatively but compassionately reign him in. I know he'll be more than prepared for Kindergarten. The teachers also plan family events throughout the year such as Mothers and Fathers Day celebrations, concerts, grandparents day, and student birthday celebrations. They incorporate many days where the kids can bring items from home to share (such as hike day at school, bring your favorite book, etc.). Our son is always excited for these days. The location of the school is very convenient for our family. It's near 680 but not so close that you hear it. It's across the street from an area with swim lessons, gymnastics lessons, and indoor soccer, so our son always says "hi" to his school when we're going to activities there. Tuition is very comparable to other preschools, but this school offers helpful drop-off and pick-up times for two working parents. Not many preschools in the area offer the same times.

Long story short, after 4 months, more than 2/3 of her behavioral items, such as tantrum, difficulty in listening instructions, sharing with friends, etc, have been fixed and I can tell that even at our home. Other teachers (Ms. Yessania, Ms. Laxmi, Ms. Evelyn) are also very experienced. They know how to deal with problems of kids, and they guide kids to the right path without yelling or being frustrated. I saw that their tone of voice was calm but had discipline and charisma. Teachers are very communicative and always opened to discuss issues of children. If there's any issue, they give brief verbal report with advice when I pick her up. Also, the education of TRIMONT is well-balanced and well-organized. They give the monthly schedule filled with daily themes and focuses, and follow the schedule accordingly. Of course since it's Montessori school, each student learns by their own pace when it comes to phonics, math and other Montessori work, but they all learn various topics together which covers science, culture, art, geography, season, etc. Our 4.5 year old daughter already reads Kindergarten-level books, recognizes and writes numbers from 1-50, can even complete addition and subtraction. When we had a private conference before Thanksgiving holidays, they gave us a thorough assessment sheet about our daughter. We could easily understand her status and things she needs to learn more until Kindergarten. I'm very satisfied with TRIMONT, and would definitely recommend this school to others in area.
