Nice touch with the blankets for you to use if you get cold. Only downside is lots of chain smokers but that's at most bars. There were a couple menus but we only were here for beers (€2,50 to €5,80 range). - Tannenzäpfle (€2,50 for 0,33L) - 2x Eifeler landbier (€2,50 for 0,30L) - 2x Bolten alt (€2,50 for 0,30L) Chill, laid back spot to grab a few beers with friends.

Located (as the name suggests) right near the Dom, Domkeller offers good beer (German, Belgian as well as others) in a cozy atmosphere. For me, Domkeller embodies what a bar should be--a relaxed place where you can share a drink with friends and listen to good music (at just the right level) or have a good conversation. The music played here is fantastic and is an amazing mix that just about everyone will enjoy. They also regularly have concerts--I'm sure this place gets packed for those! Although a bit pricey (our bill came to around 12 with 2 beers and a snack) I think it's a nice enough place to enjoy a drink (skip the snack).

I just have to say again that this is fantastic printen. This is SERIOUS printen that needs to be eaten on it's own (without coffee and tea) and paid attention to. So many great flavors and smells. I like several of the other printen stores but this is my favorite. (When I was here in the Summer of 2018 I conducted a blind printen tasting test of 7 different local printen cookies. We did the blind tasting twice (on different days). Four locals from Aachen and 2 from the USA were involved. We compared the basic printen cookie (no nuts, icing, or chocolate). Across the two blind tasting tests Moss and Lambertz consistently came out on top, with van den Daele a very close 3rd. Dreuven was of note - although people did not rate the basic Dreuven printen cookie highly, people very VERY much liked the Dreuven with icing (princess) or with nuts or chocolate (of course were not part of the tasting test but they were available in the room). Nobis was consistently in the middle. For the tasting test we unfortunately did not have Klein cookies available but everyone noted that they did very much like Klein. And of course, there were notable differences across the tasters. I myself KNOW that van den Daele is the best, but many people mistakenly preferred other shops. In the end, it was clear that each person has to try printen from many different stores to find their own favorite(s). That such a relatively large number of different printen stores have existed for so long also suggests stable between-person differences in printen preference.)

We're Canadian and don't speak a word of German ... so I was a bit apprehensive about ordering. But the manager (owner?) was very welcoming and helpful with our order and made us feel like a regular. The desserts were great, well presented, tasted good. Drinks / coffee was good too. Price was fair as well, no surprises when the bill came. I would recommend if in the area.

I needed a break after being out in the cold for several hours. The display case near the entrance is loaded with cakes, beautiful cakes(!), and more cakes. My eyes rounded and I grabbed the open table behind the candy display shelves. A hot lemon beverage (like fresh hot lemonade) and a delish cake slice made up of sweet cream, an outer layer of baumkuchen on the outer edge, a cookie base and berries - really delightful, not too sweet and light! I enjoyed sitting and people watching inside. When I was there, it seemed like the café was known mostly by the older & senior citizen crowd since 90% was this! The waitress was very quick and nice. I had questions about the menu items and she took the time to bring me an English menu. The drill is - order a slice of cake at the display case & get a ticket, give the ticket to your waitress. She will get the cake and bring it to you along with drinks you order. Very efficient! Upstairs has a bigger red walled, table-service dining area with multiple rooms for meals. There was a salad bar I noticed too. I thought the waitress I encountered upstairs was gruff (since she told me to move out of her way). The Middelberg bakery ambiance was so much nicer downstairs... Wouldn't it be a dream to be surrounded by cake? It is a dream to me!
