I called and Denaldo (hopefully I'm spelling that right) came and figured out the wiring in all my detectors was loose and some had disconnected wires because the builders used too big wire nuts/connectors (thanks, D.R. Horton). He replaced the wire connectors in all my smoke detectors, and did it very efficiently. He was extremely reasonably priced, and it's a holiday today (memorial day). Couldn't be more pleased with Denaldo. Will definitely call him for any future electrical issues.

The movers themselves were great--professional, hardworking, and I have no complaints about the…read moreactual moving crew. My issue is with the deceptive estimate we were given. We were quoted 4 hours at $200/hour, despite Apex knowing there were approximately 4 hours of travel time involved. We understood that an estimate could change, but we expected it to be a reasonable estimate based on the information provided. When I questioned the significant difference afterward, I was told they estimated that loading and unloading our belongings would only take 5-10 minutes. We were moving the contents of a two-bedroom apartment--bed, dresser, desk, coffee table, boxes, etc. Even without a couch, 5-10 minutes was never a reasonable assumption. Their estimate was the lowest we received, which influenced our decision to hire them. Had we been given a realistic estimate upfront, we could have accurately compared their pricing with other companies. Again, the actual movers were great. But beware of the estimates. In our experience, the initial quote did not realistically reflect the move, and the company was unwilling to rectify the situation afterward.

Apex carefully wrapped all of our door frames and doors, and packed our furniture as if it were their own. Their team's respect for our property and belongings was clear from start to finish. As a family-owned company serving Alabama, Apex Movers also impressed us with their quick, responsive communication throughout the entire process. It's rare to find a moving company that combines such professionalism with a personal, caring touch -- and Apex Movers does exactly that. We're so grateful we chose them, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Apex to anyone needing a smooth, stress-free move!

I just noticed your comment back to me and even though it's been several months ago I would like to…read morerespond to your response just for clarification and so people who search for a moving company can have an assessment of my experience with your company to determine if you would be right for them. That is, after all, what a review is for. To clarify, I contacted you through this app on the 20th, you are correct. However, I called and spoke with someone on the 9th, 11 days before commenting through this app. He asked what I had to move, did it have stairs and where was I moving from and to where and also asked what date I needed you for. I told him the date that I had to be out by was the 30th and I could be flexible as long as it was by the 30th. He informed me that someone would be contacting me back with a price and date at that time. I never heard back anything by phone and even tried calling again with no answer a couple of times. I then posted through this app with the project scheduling on the 20th, four days before your defensive comment back to me, without an apology, I might add. If I could give zero stars for this company I would just on the basis of you not offering an apology for my experience and getting defensive with me when I'm just posting my experience with your company for others to be able to make an informed decision based on reviews. This isn't personal, I don't know you. I just simply did not have a good experience with your company.

Steve at Cloverdale Shoe Repair is legit…read more I have a few pairs of nice hand-made leather dress shoes I purchased while living in England a few years ago. It was time for some new soles for a repair, so I came here. Immediately on entering the shop, I knew I was in the right place. It's the old-school. Paper tags, paper bags, old machinery. It's as shoe repair should be. Steve has been in business for 30 years and is teaching his son the art as well. Upon dropping off my shoes, Steve immediately surveyed the shoes, to include ripping off the old soles and showing me where the last repair shop went wrong. Not from a place of arrogance, but from a place of skill, respect, and reverence for the longevity of a good shoe. After less than a week, my shoes were repaired to a very high standard, looking better than they have in years. I cannot recommend this shop enough. Steve is excellent.
