He is an incredible tradesman and always our preferred choice where his services are warranted. We, however, live in Winnetka and this is outside "Armando's" service area. He, however, recommended HT Strenger to us and we are extremely happy that he did. We experienced a leak behind a kitchen wall that another vendor purported to fix yet to no avail so this was a re-do. David of Strenger reported precisely on time and opened the wall as if he was instead a laproscopic surgeon, unlike the previous failed vendor whose access hole/port was four times larger and created a mess that required the acquisition of a drywaller and several hours of collective inconvenience. The first failed plumbing contractor billed in 15 minute increments and, if I am not mistaken, so did Strenger, with the difference being the former's "efficacy coefficient" was zero. Stenger's work lacked the haphazard, sloppy and careless inputs of the first acquistion, one of those "always on the radio" suppliers whose name a collegue supplied, and who regretfully I called, as the job seemed perfunctory to say the least. Unfortunately, my belief of the strong inverse correlation that exists between a company's propensity to run obnoxious radio ads and its tendency to screw up the simplest job remains. Neither my wife nor I believed it necessary to ask a real plumber for a more proximate recommendation ("Armando, who would you hire if you lived up here" was indeed the targeted vernacular) but such is the world in which we now live. Another reviewer apparently thought it strange that the company requests "five star" reviews post completion. David made the same request but I construed this not as a plea of desperation inasmuch as affirmation that one would be forthcoming IF and only IF, we felt comfortable rendering such. Strenger's management, unlike the radio advertisers, seemingly understand that loyality, and the ability to thus eschew spending thousands of dollars or whatever these others pay on psychobabble laden. platitude filled ads, comes from telling customers what you will do and for how much, doing it as promised and then billing appropriately. We now have two favorite household plumbers with Strenger being our preferred provider up north. It's just a shame, however, that it takes typically two suppliers, both requiring remuneration, to acquire one good outcome. First…read moreI talk to a guy there and explain the situation and send pictures and am told me I'll need a camera inspection before doing a pipe repair, and the camera inspection will be $600. OK no worries, let's do it. So then they come out to do the inspection, take a look and tell me I don't need the camera inspection after all. OK great. Then they charge me $200 for coming over for 10 minutes and telling me that....OK. So the guy tells me it will be a couple of thousand dollars to dig down into the basement floor and fix the pipe, and I'm like oh that's not too bad. He says he'll send a quote over. So five days pass and I still don't have the quote after reaching out to them twice to ask for it eventually the quote comes in, and to my surprise it's over $5000. And at that point, I give up.

I would absolutely NOT recommend this company based on my experience…read more During the work they performed in my home, my floor was damaged. Instead of taking responsibility and trying to resolve the situation professionally, they are now claiming that the damage was already there before they started the job. It was NOT. They also left the basement access in a condition where I cannot even open it. The pull cord that is supposed to be used to open the access was pushed inside, leaving me unable to reach it and open the access normally. This is another issue that did not exist before their work and was simply left for me to deal with afterward. What makes this even more frustrating is the way I have been treated since bringing these issues to their attention. When I called to discuss the damage, instead of offering a solution, I was told, "Let me talk to the owners. I'm not sure if he's going to get back to you or not," and then the phone call was ended. That is an unacceptable way to treat a paying customer who is simply asking a company to address damage and problems that occurred during their work. There were also issues with the final price. The amount I was charged was higher than what I had originally been told, and I was not informed or asked for approval before the additional charges were added. I only learned about the higher total after the work was completed. I paid this company expecting professional service, clear communication, and respect for my home. Instead, I was left with a damaged floor, basement access that I cannot properly open, unexpected additional charges, and a company that so far has responded by denying responsibility rather than trying to make things right. Accidents can happen during a job. What matters is how a company handles them afterward. In my experience, the customer service and lack of accountability have been extremely disappointing. I am giving them the opportunity to correct the damage and resolve these issues appropriately. If they choose not to, I will update this review accordingly. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.

For one there are a lot of bad plumbers - notably the other people I used who were not only terrible but actually threatened me and tried to get paid for doing a horrible job. Where ex stink both knows their stuff, is fairly honest and what they intend to do, and actually deliver on it. I actually had a situation after hours where they were very straightforward and recommended me things to resolve the situation so that they would not have to come out for the dispatch. To me, that represents ethics and integrity in business. They absolutely could have shut up a dispatch and come out to make extra money but instead the perspective was: here's the fix for you here's what I recommend you do call me back if that doesn't work. These are the kinds of people I will call back to do more work. This Is the kind of service that is deserving of work. Not random review farms which we know a ton of businesses do so that they have a good rating on yelp. Their prices are also fair, and they actually do fix problems and not just put a Band-Aid over it. 5 stars. I do not know that there's anyone else I would trust for plumbing anywhere around the McHenry area.

I called to have them come back out and they wanted to charge full price again. The last time we had the main line rodded we used a different company, and it lasted over a year. Contacted Blanton to help my elderly in laws with a sewer issue. I live 4+ hours away. They…read moreresponded quickly to diagnose and set a game plan. They needed to replace the sewer line in the crawl space and install a clean out in the yard for future maintenance. This is where it starts getting dicey. They required a $6,000. deposit before scheduling the work. Not $200 in materials, labor was the majority of the quote. More than 50%. After being given the check they said they would be back in a few days to do the work. Calls were made by the customer to the office with empty promises of when they would be there. After several days Blanton showed up and did 80% of the job. Said they would return after inspectors gave the ok. This was BS as there is no inspection for this type of repair. After several more days and not returned calls, a crew came to backfill the open hole that had the pipe and couplings covered with stone (inspector couldn't see the work if one was to try to inspect). They requested the final payment which my elderly in laws gave them before the job was completed. They said they would return and lower the piece of 4" x 3' piece of PVC pipe sticking out of the ground in the next day or two. Again several messages left with no return calls. I went and lowered the clean out plug to a more acceptable height slightly at grade. I recommend if anyone is to have Blanton do service work at their home, a clear schedule is agreed upon with starting and ending dates along with a more reputable payment schedule.
