After having what I would call a training issue and collection of payment for a service that could not be provided I was transfer to this office call center to help unring' what was done. I was EXTREMELY pleased with Damaris, who provided exceptional customer service and followed up weekly until my refunds (two) were credited back to my credit card vs a AAA credit. She was sympatric and understanding of the issue and apologized many times on behalf of AAA's mis information. Great place to go if you need a listened renewal and you're a AAA member. I originally went to the Branford branch but they no longer do the renewals for licensing. So the lady at the desk told me to go to Old Saybrook. It's in a very old looking plaza in the back. You have to shimmy around some cars to get to it. When I walked in I was taken right away. Within 10 minutes I had my new license in my hand and I was out the door. Compared to the DMV where it would of been over an hour wait, this saved me a ton of time. Please be aware that AAA charges a $5.00 fee for using their system! You have until your license expires or else you'll get a late fee. But I would recommend doing it early to get it over with. Also, go with the verified license! It's very convenient for a new law being put into place next year! Overall, a pleasant experience. I will be returning when I need my next license renewal. read more

The first time Triple A came to my rescue was when I stupidly locked my keys in my car after a night of...imbibing. Within forty minutes, the serviceman appeared and freed my keys from my Grand Am's lusty clutches. He also didn't comment on my distressed, hungover state, and that alone was worth the membership fee. The second time I used Triple A was yesterday, to help me plan a drive to Pittsburgh, with a stop in Philadelphia. Over Labor Day Weekend. Google Maps and Mapquest wouldn't let me design a route that didn't include the GW Bridge, and I may not be the world's savviest navigator, but I know that driving across the GW anytime on Labor Day Weekend is automotive suicide. Enter Triple A! When I told the lovely woman behind the counter that I wanted to take the Tappan Zee, she said, "Oh, of course, we never send anyone over the GW Bridge." AWESOME. In addition, I got loads of free maps, and a personalized route booklet, with step-by-step directions, including progressive maps. The Old Saybrook office was surprisingly dead, but the representatives couldn't have been more friendly. Highly recommended! read more

Cannot for the life of me get someone on the phone from this branch. Have a simple question to ask that is not covered by their phone options. I need a DMV service and apparently the AAA branches in my county no longer provide these services. I'm willing to drive 40 minutes to this branch but would like to make sure I have everything I need so I don't waste my time. I decided to have my license renewed at the AAA Old Saybrook office and I had to get a verified license which I came prepared. I had brought my original Birth Certificate, (I also had original SS# card-not sure if I needed it) and a piece of mail that was from my Car tax, im sure any utility bill would of been fine. Luckily, there were no lines and the young women behind the counter could not have been nicer! Also, the process was very quick and efficient. I do realize I went during the daytime on a weekday but you have no idea how happy I was that this office took the aggravation of out of a process that could of taken much longer! AAA is not perfection but it's pretty close. We use it for license renewal- travel details...like a Visa AAA debit card for your trip or buying converter plugs, passport holders etc. Usually there is no line or it is a short wait. The most frustrating part is trying to call the location directly- feels like you can only call the 1-800 number not the OS store front. read more

I went to this AAA office today to renew my driver's license. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. No line of any kind. The staff there was super friendly and professional. I was greeted warmly by Donna, who checked all the required paperwork for my license renewal. Regina, branch manager(?), took my picture and within minutes, I got my new license. It was worth every penny of the $5 handling fee (must be paid in cash) to renew my license here. GO THERE! You will not regret it because it will be so much better than waiting a couple of hours on a long line at DMV....Just make sure you bring all the required paperwork!! That is key to a super fast transaction!! AAA doesn't make the rules. They are just following the DMV requirements!! read more

I don't even know where to begin with how terrible AAA is. My mom has been a loyal Gold member for YEARS, 3 years for just this card and this address alone. And they've always had their annoying tendencies with poor customer service and SLOW (and I mean really slow!) Service, but they hit a new low today! Around 7:15pm I was with my mom and 4 year old son today and we were coming back from the Beach. (My mom can't drive herself due to medical issues, so I drive us to our outings, appointments etc.) and something clonked in the engine that sounded like a rock hit it (we were idle at the time, so we know we didn't hit a rock or anything) and we didn't know what it was, but it rattled pretty bad when I accelerated so my mom told me to pull over in an empty shopping plaza parking lot nearby, which was closed because it's Sunday. So they closed early. I got out, checked under the hood, added Water just in case, looked underneath and couldn't find anything. So we tried again and it was still rattling, but we made it across the street to Target. We parked far enough away for a tow truck. It was 7:30pm when my mom called and for an extended cab for 3 people it would've been 90 minutes-2 hours to wait, they said. My mom called My younger brother who happened to have the day off and he said he would pick us up. The lady from AAA called back at 7:45pm to confirm and update and said someone has to stay with the vehicle. My mom asked if it could be me and said someone was coming to pick her up and her grandson (my son) and the agent said yes and since it's only 1 person they don't need to call an extended cab so the wait would only be 60-90 minutes instead. So my brother came and took my son and my mom home while I waited. I waited 2 hours and at 9:45pm, I texted my mom that Target was closing and still no tow truck. She sent me the tracker link. I clicked on the tracker and it said the tow truck arrived. No truck in sight. So naturally, I called. Another agent who answered, a male (don't remember his name) put me on hold for 10 minutes. The online tracker then said the truck would be there by 10:00pm; as did the text my mom received which she sent me. When he returned he told me the truck wasn't even in the state, "but still in route and on it's way" to me, but it will be another 25-30 minutes. Bullshit! If it were on its way, it would've been there and what sense does it make to send a damn tow truck from out of state to begin with?? WTF?! I'm diabetic and was way overdue for my insulin etc. I let him know that and told him I can't wait 25-30 minutes longer, I already waited 2 hours and AAA didn't update me like they were supposed to and then added on more time. Target closed at this point, it was now 10:15pm all of the employees even left, the lights turned off. He told me to call the police. That is not a police matter. They don't babysit, they don't tow, they don't have my insulin and they don't dispatch tow trucks. The tuck should've been there when the tracker said at 9:45pm or actually sooner when the wait was 60-90 minutes (so between 8:45-9:15pm) and AAA confirmed the tow at 7:45pm! I pushed the car to it's limit and ended up chancing it and driving myself 20 minutes home anyway and had my mom cancel the tow and the driver didn't even show up until 10:50pm! They better not even think about using up my mom's free tow! I would've been waiting an extra 50 minutes (not 25-30 more, like the AAA agent said) past the 2 hours I already waited which was already 30-60 minutes longer than the time they gave! I was already home by the time the tow truck showed up! Talk about POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! read more

I love AAA. I can come in and out and everyone has usually been super friendly and helpful with everything I've ever needed. However I registered to vote there, and I told the woman working my political party Id like to register under. She then gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes. Everyone is entitled to their own views and for someone who gets paid to help people register to vote should not be judging someone based on their views. read more

Thank you AAA. Went in for a license renewal on a Sat. morning. This is a busy time, but they are prepared. Yes I waited a bit and start to finish was about 40 minutes. However, these are nice friendly people who are doing a great service for the licensed people in Connecticut. Have you been to our DMV? It is a disgusting poor excuse for a service center and the State of Connecticut should be embarrassed. They more concerned about registering you to vote than registering your car. Cut the political crap governor and fix our DMVs. Take a lesson from AAA and see how nice they handle the flow of people in a nice clean friendly environment. Thank you again AAA, I didn't mind waiting because your people were working diligently and swiftly to make my wait as short as possible. You deserve more than the extra $5.00 fee. Not sure if they are closed up. Their phone number goes to a generic AAA bank (not local), no option to talk to anyone anywhere. The AAA website says there is no office in Old Saybrook. They must have closed that location since there is no phone service there and the web site has eliminated that location. Too bad they were super nice the last time I went there. read more
