My experience with AAA Roadside Assistance was absolutely unacceptable, frustrating, and quite frankly, a serious safety concern.
I requested a tow at approximately 10:15 PM in Newark, New Jersey, and was left waiting for hours with little to no accurate communication or explanation.
At one point, I received a text notification stating that the tow truck driver was just 4 minutes away. However, as I continued checking the tracking link, the estimated arrival time kept increasing instead of the driver actually arriving. After approximately another hour of waiting, I finally received a phone call informing me that "dispatch messed up and put the drop-off location as the pickup location."
How does an error of this magnitude go unnoticed for HOURS? Why was I receiving notifications that a driver was minutes away when the dispatch information was completely incorrect? Where was the communication, oversight, or accountability?
I was left stranded in Newark, New Jersey, late at night, from approximately 10:15 PM until 1:30 AM, in a situation where my personal safety should have been a priority. This was not simply an inconvenience. Being left stranded in the middle of the night because of AAA's incompetence and lack of communication is a serious safety issue.
AAA promotes itself as a dependable roadside assistance service that members can rely on in emergencies. My experience was the complete opposite. I pay for this membership specifically for the peace of mind that help will be available when I need it most. Instead, I was left waiting for hours, repeatedly checking inaccurate arrival estimates, only to discover that a completely avoidable dispatch error was responsible for the delay.
This level of negligence is inexcusable. There needs to be a thorough investigation into how this situation was handled, and the individuals responsible for these failures need to be held accountable, including appropriate disciplinary action or termination where warranted. Errors like this can put members in genuinely dangerous situations, and there is absolutely no excuse for such a complete breakdown in service.
I expect more than a generic apology. I expect an explanation of how this happened, why it took so long to identify the mistake, and what AAA intends to do to ensure another member is not left stranded in a potentially unsafe situation.
AAA failed me when I needed its services most, and this experience has seriously damaged my trust in the company. read more
