Horrible customer service, awful customer service people. I has a horrible experience which included a woman who REFUSED to believe that the Target I was at did not sell car oil. Today, while trying to find the terms and conditions that say I can't cancel my membership, I was yelled at, given a wrong phone number, and hung up on when I asked for the woman who had raised her voice at me name. To be fair, I am getting the amount of my membership back from another fund, but AAA utterly failed to help me when I had a car problem and following up has been very difficult. I do no believe that they can legally refuse to cancel my membership if I'm not even asking for a refund. The contract is most likely an unenforceable adhesion contract. Edited to say: I have talked to multiple people at AAA, only the 2 people who health with my ling complaint were helpful. If AAA actually cared about customer satisfaction is wouldn't take so long and so many endless prompts to get to someone and the department wouldn't be so separated, nor would the terms and conditions be sad hard to find. We have received HORRIBLE service--we are still sitting along I84 FOUR HOURS LATER after we were promised service within 30 minutes!! We just watched a AAA tow truck--who should have towed us-- tow another car away in the first hour. We've made seven calls, and the tow truck driver just can't seem to find us. Now, the business with the brand name is pressuring me to change my review instead of applying pressure to fix the AAA system that is clearly broken. Horrible priorities. read more

The only good thing about this company is the tow trucks. Everything else is a total failure. Besides the fake Hertz discounts that are practically a joke never competitive today I was trying to buy movie tickets at the membership price. At my first call I was quickly dismissed but the employee who told me to get them online. I liked the idea, it once online I discovered on the AAA website that AAA has discontinued the program with Cinemark, the movie theater I was going to, but they still have one with the Showcase Cinema a movie theater that instead is permanently closed. So forget that. I called back and talked with a different employee who tells me that she can't help me because of some computer glitch they were experiencing and of course DID NOT OFFERING ANY ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS to save money to their beloved membership. I asked if I brought back the receipt from the movie theater and AAA would issue a check for the balance and the employee started laughing saying "oh no. we don't do that". Now I wonder why do I have this membership for? I have a strong feeling they don't care about their membership and they try to dodge us as much as possible. Not a good service at all. read more

Worst service ever. Stuck in very dangerous on-ramp in Mansfield ct. called AAA. 90 degrees. Truck not running. AAA sends tow to East Providence RI!!!! Still no tow. Horrible phone contact and service. Clearly gave city, state, crossroads and exact location. Even told them what AAA tow vendor is only 2 miles from my location! Waste of time and money. Update: still stuck in dangerous location 2 1/2 hours later. AAA says their correct vendor, T &B not answering calls. Being T and B is exactly 2.1 miles up road, wife calls to explain. Since the only CT office locations are in Avon, Cromwell, Enfield, Old Saybrook, Plainville, Waterford, and West Hartford -- this Manchester office was by far the most convenient for me. Oftentimes this office is super busy, so I tend to go right after lunch or early morning. They are however, usually well staffed. To avoid the travesty that is the DMV, I have visited this particular location for several DMV services. AAA is great for driver license renewals, duplicate driver's licenses, ID cards, and learners' permits. Need a passport photo? I recently planned and scheduled a trip to Ireland and London with an agent named Debbie Creighton. I was a bit nervous about traveling in Europe as I have not had much experience. Ms. Creighton could not have been more helpful and thoughtful in her choices of hotels, tour itineraries, currency exchange info and personal travel tips. So had to come here to get the license renewed. I was in the parking lot 15 minutes before 9:00am when they open on Saturdays. The line of people to get in already reached the street. Doors promptly opened at 9 a.m. And the line so so long it was already in the street at this point. They have two lines when you come in the door one for licenses and one for AAA purchases, trips, brochures Etc. The line moved pretty quickly and luckily I had all the documents I needed for the validated license since it doesn't cost more than regular license and eventually if you don't have a passport you will need a validated license in order to travel in the continental US. This location is very clean staff is very friendly and helpful and I was probably only in there for about a half an hour total. I would totally go to this location for other travel needs and to get my license renewed in 6 years. The only downfall of this AAA office is the plaza it is in is difficult to exit soon as the exits are on either end of the Plaza. read more

Went here to renew my license. I went at 10 am on a Thursday. It only took 10 minutes! Renewing here means you keep your old license and they mail you your new one in a week. Totally worth it! Wethersfield DMV takes hours!!! read more

Called for service on 800 number. Waited for an hour which they said it would take. Fifteen minutes later I call. They call the tow company and because they were put on hold for too long they hung up and told me to wait for the truck driver to call me. Nice. This is what my money pays for. So for ha ha's I called the tow truck company. The dispatcher at the tow truck company said that aaa was only holding for a few minutes and hung up before they could get the tow truck drivers number to call him for a time when he would be picking up my car!!!! Nice!!!! It's obvious nobody wants to do their job there. I called again was put on hold for TWENTY MINUTES and then some poor sucker answered the phone and had to hear the whole story! By then I had called another tow company and said if you can find someone within the hour call me back! Sad. I could have saved myself a lot of time doing this all on my own. Do yourselves a favor. Call around. Find a good reasonable and dependable towing company. Stick with them. Save yourself the disappointment! read more

AAA in Manchester has recently moved locations but they are still super helpful. Now located in the Olive garden Plaza near Sweet Frog, this is the same AAA it has always been, with bells, whistles, and friendly staff included. Sure you'll wait a bit sometimes, but such is the nature of any busy location. My experiences here have always been top notch, with the customer service associates going above and beyond to help me. This was basically the first time I've ever had to actually go to an AAA office. Typically, my use of AAA was for roadside assistance or online ordering of maps. If you are travelling overseas and need foreign currency, inevitably someone will refer you to AAA, even most banks! Here's what you need to know about getting foreign currency from AAA: 1) It will require two trips to the AAA office. One trip to place the order (and pay for the currency in American cash) and a second trip to pick up the currency a day or two later (it takes about 2 business days from order to pickup, so plan accordingly). 2) On your first trip, you will need to bring your AAA card, an ID and CASH. Checks and credit cards are not accepted. The person who helped me at this office allowed me to use my debit card (which we still processed as a credit card) for this transaction, but she gave me a bit of a hard time about it and I heard another AAA staff member say they don't accept credit or debit cards at all for foreign exchange transactions. It's clear that there is some confusion (esp because a credit/debit transaction on a bank card is as good as cash), but if you want your trip to be as painless and productive as possible, I'd recommend coming in with cash. 3) Now for the good news: as a AAA Member, there's no fee for this service. The exchange rate may not be the absolute best you can find, but at least in the suburbs, I found it's pretty hard to shop around for a better deal - there just aren't many places offering this service 4) You need your photo ID to pick up the currency when it is ready (the office calls you). Now for some notes about this particular office that surprised me: 1) It was pretty damn busy! I went on a Friday afternoon and the line was almost out the door. I overheard someone ask one of the customer service agents "Is it always this busy?" and they confirmed it was. There did seem to be a lot of agents working and the line moved faster than I thought it was going to, so don't be intimidated. That said, while the office has Saturday morning hours, I'd be hesitant to plan a trip there during that time since it seems like the lines would be that much worse. 2) There's tons of travel gear for sale here. I guess that shouldn't have been a surprise - but I saw quite a bit of useful stuff while I was standing in line - foreign language quick-reference guides, maps, PacSafe and other RFID-equipped bags and luggage. If you need some last minute travel gear, I'd say this is a good stop. All the stuff they had for sale was discounted for AAA Members and a quick search on Amazon showed that the Member-price was definitely competitive to what you'd pay online. Overall, the agents were super nice and helpful and the experience was way, way better than I expected (when I saw the line, I got very nervous my experience was going to be "DMV-esque"). There just seemed to be some kinks with their foreign currency payment policy that needed working out, but since they are just about the only place in the area willing to do this service, they get to make the rules! So yeah, AAA really is there for ALL your travel needs and not just roadside assistance and free tows! read more

Got Duped! Went in for a verified license but forgot 1 item. Girl behind the counter says you can get a regular license now and come back anytime for the verified. Neglected to tell me there would be another $35.00 fee. Imagine my surprise when I was asked to pay $35 more on top of the $75 I just paid last week. Had I known I would have to pay again, I would have just waited and paid the $75 only. Great communication! NOT!!! read more

I've been twice in the last month: to renew my license and to purchase theme park tickets. Both times the office was well staffed and lines moved quickly. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. I don't know why anyone would bother with the DMV when AAA is an option. read more

Where shall I begin? Travel sucks because you need dates times locations places. Basically you do all work yourself they go ok and pay me. Next went to get license renew brought two pieces of mail never told had to have dates so person makes me look like a idiot. Don't appreciate. Elderly Representative to the right of the counter going to the the dmv section was very rude to nonwhite customers and coworker and she continue to make comments to her white customer about "one should know where to sit when waiting." In that case notes should be posted on walls to let the customers know where to be seated" in order to avoid and hears unnecessary rude comments from this white representative towards the non white comments and her coworker. The dmv section seats where all occupied and nonwhite customers where standing or leaning against the wall. So when she was done with her white customer she proceeded to ask her white customer, in a nicely manner, where to sit. Unhappy worker with no sense of customer service = rude as hell representative and should not be working as a customer service agent. At least while at work she should be respectful to all customers (green purple orange) it doesn't matter who they are. read more
