Here in the Phoenix valley, most of the homes have dual pane aluminum windows. The glass is installed in a frame that is attached to the wall studs and then finished with stucco to match the home's exterior. Over time, the seal between the two panes will rupture due to the extreme desert heat - as well as direct and prolonged exposure to the sun. When this happens, the windows will begin to fog from condensate (moisture) build-up between the panes. The window panes also lose their insulation effectiveness and will look pretty disgusting from the condensation and pitting. Regrettably this cannot be cleaned since it occurs between the panes.
There are only two options for remediation. Either replace the dual pane glass, or install new windows altogether. After doing some research it was determined that replacing the dual pane glass was FAR LESS EXPENSIVE, easier and would not require having to compromise the window frame, wall or the surrounding stucco.
We called around to determine if we could simply have the panes replaced. We discovered that not many places do this. We did however discover AAA glass, and we could not have been happier with our decision to have them do the work.
On day 1, Dave arrived and evaluated each of the windows. He took careful measurements and also offered advice for ways in which to improve the operation of the existing windows. He then returned on day 2 to go over the pricing with us. He asked that we look at the pricing for each window and decide which widows we wanted to pursue, and when. He also quoted prices for replacing the balance in a couple of windows that required repair. There was no pressure on sales at all. Over a couple of days, we reviewed the pricing and submitted our preferences to Dave. On day 3 Dave returned to confirm the windows and the pricing. On day 4 Dave came out to perform the installations and repairs.
As I said earlier, we could not have been happier. The windows look great! By comparison, when you look at the cost of replacing the window and frames plus the stucco work I've estimated that it would have cost more than 10 times the cost of simply replacing the dual panes as we did. Moreover, Dave's professionalism, patience and attention to detail was very much appreciated.
If you have a similar requirement, you will not go wrong with AAA. The prices are very reasonable and the work is outstanding. read more
