Nothing yet from AAA, they still owe us lessons. It has been so long that my child has already had his drivers license for two months! They could care less whether or not they fill their end of the commitment, but if you try to cancel or God for bid miss a lesson they will charge you!! read more

Awesome choice for a driving school. As a parent it is incredibly scary when a child begins learning to drive. The instructor was patient with my daughter and handled her nerves about getting behind the wheel like a champ. My husband and I cannot recommend this driving school enough. Parents, look no further. read more

These guys do a terrific job. From driving instructor Matt in Poway....who is very thorough...Ron in the Grossmont area who has been doing this for years and is knowledgeable...Donato in Del Mar, who has a smile that lights up a room and makes the kids feel comfortable. We had Ken for a lesson in the Hotel Circle location, and he's terrific. Josh in Escondido, who has been an instructor for a decade and has a sense of humor and is friendly... Connie in Oceanside... ...this is a great group of driving instructors, which will make you feel comfortable no matter which AAA you bring your teen driver to. read more

This was the coolest most pleasant driving school I've ever knew existed. I brought my niece for driving lessons and Josh was amazing.. Friendly, affordable and great service... Definitely recommend this place for new drivers read more

I searched for the right driving instruction and felt the safest spot to start was auto club. What I didn't realize was how comprehensive and kind the instruction could be until we landed Josh Board as an instructor. Our son ended up passing the test with flying colors! read more

My 16 year old daughter had the instructor by the name of Josh. He was funny & personable. We did the 6 lessons & no one pushed more on us. We asked Josh to access at the end to see if ahe neeeded the extra lessons. He told us she was fine. You do have to use their vehicles, So I just used her far to drive there & back home to give the experience in her own car. I got a decent discount hecause I have the premium AAA membership. My daughter took her test at the San Marcos DMV. Only 60% pass at this location behind the wheel! My daughter passed & got yer license! Thank you Josh for the great instruction!! read more

I cannot recommend Josh B. He has positive reviews, and I have to assume those new drivers are neurotypical. He does not know how to help a new driver on the autism spectrum and I would not recommend him for any neurodivergent driver. read more

My daughter just finished her last lesson with Josh and she not only feels more confident but had a blast! She is so comfortable with taking her exam, her skills have greatly improved and I look forward to bringing in my two other girls. Very easy to schedule, communicates well, listens to questions and concerns and has coached her through any problem areas. Anytime I saw a weakness in her driving like right hand turns he made sure to check on that skill and work through it. I am very glad I choose this driving school and we were lucky enough to get such a great teacher! THANKS JOSH! read more

Adding one more 5-star review for instructor Josh Board. He is friendly, knowledgeable, organized, and gave excellent feedback after each lesson. He is available by phone or email to answer any questions, and he was very accommodating and flexible when helping us schedule lessons. My child's confidence, knowledge, and skill is clearly advancing with each lesson (just finished lesson 7 of 10). I have total confidence in Josh's teaching! read more

This is a great way to get behind the wheel training for kids and new drivers. Josh was a good instructor. We went through many instructors after our favorite instructor Kevin retired. We did the 10 hour training + just so that our child had plenty of time behind the wheel. All the instructors had a different view point to round the student drivers perspective & to be more comprehensive of how different people think and drive. Josh was great for the DMV test. We bought a special package that allowed our child to meet at the AAA office before his DMV test, drive to the dmv in the car he trained on, and take his test in that car. Josh walked him in, stood in line, and waited during the test. It made our child more comfortable to be in a regular sized car (we own all BIG cars - ok to drive but not ideal for testing) that he was familiar with and an instructor that he liked with him. Great experience! I highly recommend the driving school with a comprehensive online program and superior behind the wheel training. Look in your AAA magazine for coupons 1-2 times a year. Not cheap, but worth every penny. And added benefits as AAA member. First year of membership free for the new driver. read more

My teen daughter had Josh Board (at the Escondido location) as her driving instructor. Josh was exceptional! He was always on time, professional, and very knowledgeable. What I appreciated most about Josh was his genuine desire to help my daughter understand the rules of the road and the related driving requirements needed to pass her behind the wheel exam. My daughter and I often brought up real life questions about events that occurred while she drove with me. Josh always went above and beyond to explain the driving rules related to our questions. As her parent, I too, got clarity about minor road rules that I was unknowingly violating. Josh Board exceeded our expectation as a professional driving instructor. He made my daughter feel at ease during her lessons, and I found him to be very personable. I highly recommend Josh Board!! read more

We had a great experience with Josh as a driving instructor for both our son and our daughter. He made the lessons fun and kept them safe. He also helped with scheduling to make the entire process easy. We would recommend him highly. read more

Josh Board is, hands down, the BEST drive instructor out there! He has EVERY quality you look for in a drive instructor. He goes above and beyond to explain unique circumstances and situations to his students, just like a parent would. He is patient, kind, informative, helpful, and earned the trust and respect from my teenage son. He built up my son's confidence and taught him to be a safe, steady and defensive driver. My son passed his drive test thanks to Josh! read more

I walk into the Oceanside AAA and ask about the school. The lady said I had to first register my son online, then call the school. After registering my son, I called the school, who by the way had no times for after school teaching. We ask for our money back and was told it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get it back. Don't make the mistake I made a register first, call the school first. I am very unhappy! read more

We like the experience we had with our daughter at this driving school. They prepared her well for the DMV test and made her a safer and better driver. My nephew is doing great also, and my younger daughter will follow too when she is read, great job guys. read more

I was bothered I hadn't heard from the driving instructor for a few months, but when I finally did, he explained they were shut down for more than two months because of the Covid19 situation and that he wasn't working during that shut down.I was happy to get my daughter back to doing some driving lessons, since she's out of school for the summer with nothing to do. She always looked forward to the lessons with Josh, and I always looked forward to her coming back to me as a better driver. I'll recommend these guys to any of my friends in Escondido!! read more

I attended the AAA driving school late 2019-early 2020. There was some confusion initially (the course is scheduled out of an office in TX, and after the first class they told us they would call to schedule the next one, although they never did, and it took a few calls and inquiries to get things back on track). After that, I was scheduled with Josh Board, and I then drove with him through my 10th session. The 4 stars is for the disorganization with AAA, although in all fairness Josh was super organized, and he always scheduled a couple lessons weeks out. He was also reliable, one of those people who you know you're going to get a call back from, in a timely manner, with an answer to all your questions (according to my mom). I thought Josh was pretty chill - we would talk about movies and music, etc, and at the same time he would also tell me a lot of different stories about various driving scenarios. I felt comfortable driving with him. Josh isn't strict, and he would usually correct me in a way that was positive, and not condescending. I thought he was a thorough instructor, and knew his stuff really well. I don't think there is anything I didn't like about him. He's pretty cool. I might add that, although my parents made me do an extensive amount of time behind the wheel, and I think Josh and AAA prepared me well, I did not pass the driving test the first time around. It's probably worth mentioning that, when he found out (that I didn't pass), Josh was very supportive, and spent time talking to us about it (and of course giving us more advice). And yes, I passed the second time, nearly got a perfect score. I would recommend the AAA driving school. Thanks, Josh :) read more

If I could I would give this 10 stars! I was able to pass the DMV driving test with only 4 marks thanks to Josh! He is an awesome instructor and will go over all of your questions to ensure you pass the test. Thanks again Josh! read more

AAA Auto Club Driving School is the best! Both of my teens went through it. It is hands down more thorough then any other driving school. My daughter started out with another school and we switched to AAA. So when my son was ready we reached directly out to AAA again. Josh was my son's instructor and made him feel very comfortable and gave him great instructions and tips on how to be a good driver. We recommend AAA Driving School to everyone we know. read more

In looking for a driver's training program for our daughter, I noticed that Josh Board had great reviews as an instructor; for multiple driver's training companies he's worked for, always great reviews. So I tracked him down at the AAA - Escondido location. Although the website showed booking over a month out, he was able to get our daughter's first lesson scheduled much sooner, which meant we could start driving with her. She was very nervous about the lesson, both in being in a car with a stranger and the idea of driving on the streets. Josh allowed a parent to sit in the back, which alleviated her nerves about riding with a stranger. He's also a great conversationalist, taking the pressure off. They started out driving in the parking lot. After several rotations, she was out driving in the streets. Her first lesson had her driving in real traffic. She returned from the lesson much more confidant and surprised that she accomplished what she did in only one lesson! Looking forward to our future lessons with Josh and to watching our daughter grow in her driving skills and confidence. Thanks Josh! read more

My son is nearly done with his lessons and is preparing to take his test in a few weeks. This has been an amazing experience and I 100% give the credit to his instructor, Josh Board. Josh taught my daughter to drive a few years ago although with a different driving school. I found him at the AAA in Escondido and immediately signed up for my son to learn from him also. It's been a great experience, Josh is a very thorough and caring instructor and relates really well to teenagers. He works well with kids and knows how to speak to them and teach them in a way that is easy for them to learn and enjoyable. My son and my daughter both felt very comfortable with him and both have become very good drivers. My daughter passed her test with flying colors and I am sure my son will do the same in a few weeks. As for the driving school itself it's very conveniently located and scheduling was not a problem although I did most of it directly with Josh. It is nice to use a driving school that has the backing of AAA. If you're looking for an instructor weather for yourself as an adult or for your teenage child, look no further than this place with Josh Board. read more

If I could give a negative star I would. My father had purchased the driving school package for my son in Jan/Feb 2020. My son started the program and completed the online portion of it, then my father passed mid Feb. and Covid lockdown happened in March. It took us time to get through the funeral and to refocus on the driving school training... we had to locate information on what he purchased. Called AAA to ensure it was still in the system, person said yes, no problem, give us a call when you have the permit. Our DMV was not taking appointments and our city was in the Purple Tier... which meant to only go out if needed... we didn't see taking his permit test as an emergency or absolute need, so we held off. We called today after our city was moved to the red tier and my son was able to pass his permit test and we were told that the $500 that my father spent for the program expired. But they were willing to give us a break and reinstate it for $75. Really. I was never told about this when I called earlier. I can pay the $75 no problem... but given what happened with Covid this past year... I think AAA can do better. read more
