My wife and I came here on 12/18 with an appointment at 4:45 PM to change my wife's last name to mine. We came handy with our marriage license, her birth certificate, and the name change document that is required by the DMV as well as her new Social Security card showing her new last name that was changed weeks prior. Unfortunately, the only thing that we did not have was her existing drivers license with her maiden name that was lost days before our appointment with AAA. Upon arriving 15 minutes before close but again with a reservation for the last possible appointment of the day, which was at 4:45 PM, the representative was hesitant to assist us with ordering a replacement license showing her new last name because we didn't have her existing drivers license ... although we had every other supporting document, including a photo of her existing license as well to corroborate. She then asked a Manager for assistance who explained that they could not assist us with ordering the new replacement license, because we did not have her existing ID Instead this Manager told us we needed to visit the DMV website, order a new replacement license for the one that was lost, wait for that to arrive in the mail and then we would be able to come in after making another appointment and use that existing license to order a replacement license with her new last name. It made absolutely zero sense to me why they were making us jump through hurdles when AAA itself can assist in ordering replacement driver licenses for lost or stolen, etc. but instead this woman was telling me that I needed to jump through hoops and inconvenience myself further instead of trying to help me while I was there. She didn't even look over any of the paperwork that we brought in as well. She simply told me "the policy". Upset, we left and visited another AAA who was baffled by the interaction that I had here, apologized profusely for their unwillingness to help, agreed and validated that the steps they were trying to make us take were unnecessary because they didn't need the existing ID to order a replacement ID! At this point, I'm not sure if it was because the staff, including the manager herself, was being lazy because they were about to close or what but if that's the case, don't have appointment slots available up to 15 minutes before close. I don't even think it was an issue with laziness in all actuality because it took 10 minutes to order the replacement ID at the new AAA that we went to. We truly feel that we were discriminated here because why else would the manager herself refuse to help us, send us on a wild goose chase and give us misinformation? As a long time AAA member of 15+ years, not only that but also a multiple policy owner as well, I'm now shopping around for alternate insurances. I suggest others stay away from this location. read more

I wanted the aaa roadside protection so I bought the protection. I was so glad because 6 months later my vehicle lost the rear differential. Well I called and they claimed I need a different package because the truck not covered . They already had my vehicle info but ok I will buy the more expensive plan to make sure I'm covered next time. 1 year later my truck needed a jump because battery died . They claimed it's not covered. It's an 3500 Chevy express van . That was why I bought the more expensive policy. So they got me again. No class no call back and left me on side of the road in 10 degree weather thanks AAA read more

No matter when I go into this branch, no matter how many people are in line, I have to wait at least 10 minutes to get helped. It just doesn't seem to have the most efficient setup. It took 30 minutes to renew my license, which is on par with DMV. It took 20 minutes to get a document notarized. A woman in front of me had a hard time buying movie tickets, and that should be quick! read more

Did driver's license renewal- the new 'Real ID' type. Definitely worth the $3 extra not to go to the DMV. Went around 8:30 on a weekday and there was no line, took maybe 15 minutes, several minutes of which was just waiting for the machine to print out the license. read more

No complaints here. Went in to purchase movie tickets (discounted!) and was in and out within ten minutes. Was a Friday morning and was surprised at how many people were in there and in line. There were three women working the counter- all seemed very efficient. One gentleman from the insurance section came over to ask if anyone in line needed help with insurance things- nice that he was trying to cut wait time. AAA offers discounts on MANY things that I had no idea about- you can get gift cards for the HRG, Mill Restaurant Group, Max Group, and a few others at a very slightly discounted prices ($23.50 for a $25.00 gift card) which is cool. Movie tickets were $8 compared to the normal $10 or $11 or whatever the astronomical price is for the movies these days. AAA also offers trip planning guides and will literally print you step by step driving directions to wherever you want to go.. fo' free! (a friend and I did this for Hartford to LA, it was 131 pages of directions. woof.) Plenty of parking at this location and everything was very clean and organized. read more

Being a AAA member I used the AAA in Hamden back in 2008 the last time I needed to renew my license. Currently that is not an option so I choose Cromwell visting last Saturday 7-21-18 at 9:00am. I was there at 8:30am and there were already about dozen people ahead of me waiting outside but once in the experience was wonderful. The 5 or 6 customer service consultants were all friendly and efficient. Tina took good care of me pointing out that I could also get my passport photos there as my passport would be expiring. I was in and out of the office within 40 minutes even though besides the license photos I had my passport photos done. Great work by everyone in that AAA center. read more

I went Monday to have my drivers license renewed. The lady at the desk Cory was probably the rudest person ever I've ever encountered with. I came ready with all my documents and she still gave me an attitude over small small things. I felt as if I was still at the DMV and not AAA.. Went here on a Saturday late morning because I lost my license. I was immediately caught off guard when I walked in. They were FULLY staffed and moving the line quicker then I could keep track. I did not wait in line longer then 2 minutes. Once helped, the experience was pleasant and very friendly. I then moved on to the gentleman that was to help me with the next phase of my transaction. I was so pleased with his level of service. I went in just for a reprint of my license and he educated me on some other things that I normally would not have asked about (I was actually able to renew my license several months in advance and also upgrade it with a new feature they offer for, I think, security clearance at the airport). I also want to point out that it was not just the 2 people who waited on me that were friendly. Watching other customers interact with other staff members while I waited, they were ALL very interactive and friendly. AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE ! read more

I used this location to get currency exchanged. First, I called this location and attempted to speak to someone over the phone at 510 only to be put on hold for 20 minutes and then hung up on at 530 because they closed. Then when I went into the store to get the currency exchange, the employees knew little of the process. The women helping was pleasant but was not very knowledgeable about the steps required or the fees associated with the transaction. I was told that my currency would be ready the following day and I would receive a phone call. The phone call came the next day, as promised, but when I wasn't able to answer the phone I expected the person to leave a message. However, I never received a message to confirm my money was in fact ready. When I called the following day, the women that answered the phone immediately gave off the impression that there was no currency at the Cromwell location under my name. She took my name again and put me on hold without even so much as mentioning she needed to transfer me. The next women that picked up asked me my name cause apparently the first women could not be bother to pass along the information she has me 3 times to repeat. The second women located my currency and told me they had left a message the previous day informing me it could be picked up... Clearly communication is not a strong attribute at this establishment. I would suggest giving this location AMBLE time if you require a currency exchange, because there is nothing more frustrating than scrambling for something like money before a vacation. read more

All I can say is customer service is not a priority here. DMV services were down the other day, they told us to call before we come back to see if they were back online. Tried every number they gave us and multiple extensions, with no answer. Decided to try staying on hold, first time 48 minutes, the next 24, gave up and went to another location. Why give out a number if you never answer it or return calls?? Expected more from AAA. read more

I am disappointment the way they answered my request. I was there at AAA Cromwell for notary service at 5:10 PM and I know they close by 5:30 PM. I drove from Hartford downtown to make it there in rush hour. The center was not overcrowded and one person was ahead of me. I want to get a notary and hardly it would have taken 5 - 10 mins may be? Two reps were just to take request and only one working on the services provided and they say the cant do it. Really??? Awesome service for the membership I pay for AAA.... read more

Had not traveled for a while, so we asked AAA to make two hotel reservations needed for our vacation. We called the first hotel to verify check-in time only to find that the reservation had never been made. The AAA agent "had made" the reservations in our presence, (and even gave us the correspinding forms), but may not have pressed send? Never again read more

Went to Cromwell, CT office this morning looking for discounted tickets which they advertise. Woman behind the desk was rude and had no interest in helping me. Was not knowledgeable about tickets and I asked if she could inquire with another worker. Got no where and then asked if she could call another branch but I was told no because it was Saturday and no one will answer the phone. Gee!!! read more

This facility is open for licensing renewal up until 2pm. However, I showed up to renew my license at 12:30pm and was told that their system for license renewal closed automatically at 2pm per state regulations. The AAA representative stated that their was a 2hr waiting list. So if the system closes at 2pm and I arrived at 12:30pm logic would dictate the last person would not be able to get their hands on a new license until after the 2:30pm deadline. It seems as though the personnel at this facility don't have sound logic. It is not the customers fault that AAA does not have the equipment and personnel necessary to run a efficient company. Even though I was there 1.5hrs before closing, they turned me away. This is negligence on the part of AAA and makes it difficult for customers to get what they need. The people who worked at the facility were friendly about the situation. It's unacceptable that they can't manage to help people who show up over 1hr before closing. read more
