We also sometimes realizes permit drawings for other designers who would rather not go through the challenges of assemble drawings and legal documents required by cities to acquire building permits. Such was the case was the when I received a phone call. "I'm Christopher Gates and I'm working on the O. project in San Francisco and I think we're missing a real opportunity." Chris went on to explain that the upper and lower levels of the project were connected by a set of non conforming stairs, which were grandfathered in by not touching them, but were't the most enjoyable to navigate. The previous designer had elected not to touch those stairs. But Chris suggested something extraordinary: "Perhaps we can carve out some space from the adjacent closet, a bathroom, and a light well, and make a set of beautiful stairs with a skylight above that unifies the home right when you walk through the front door. Are you interested in checking it out?" As one who wants my clients to really love their new home, I was a little embarrassed that I'd miss the opportunity myself. But even more, I was super grateful for Chris's suggestion as well as his palpable enthusiasm, especially when so many architects and builders are willing just to gloss over it just to get it done quickly. "Hell yes!" I said. We scheduled a time to meet, trouble shot the challenges, and over the next 10 days, co-created an amazing solution together. Yesterday, nearly nine months since that first meeting, I had the chance to check it out the (nearly) finished project. Chris and his fantastic team had totally transformed the place, from a chopped up, piecemeal layout to a spacious, light-filled home with all the essential amenities a family needs. We have just finished our  home renovation with Superb builders, and I am ecstatic over the changes…read moreand the difference it has made for a home that has not been touched in over 50 years.  David has a skill in seeing what most other contractors or designers cannot imagine. Victor (project manager/foreman) has everything in control, day to day, and does not forget a thing.  We interviewed four other contractors, and they couldn't come up with the right floorplan for our kitchen. We did not want to settle.  David designed our kitchen and more than doubled the size.  No problem moving plumbing or switching to gas from electric and finding a better home for our fridge. Our primary bathroom was completely gutted to add a stand-alone tub, and Superb designed a walk-in closet and additional hall closet taking a foot from the adjoining room, which you would never be able to tell. He has a crew for different sets of workmanship, and they know exactly what to do in a strategic time frame. They do not waste any time and clean up the projects beautifully every day.  We had completely gutted our kitchen and primary bathroom. Had the whole house rewired, new plumbing, new LED lights throughout the house, all new flooring on the first floor, and refinished all flooring upstairs.   Superb builders accommodated every wishlist we had.  Their workmanship is precise, clean and the crew are very helpful and pleasant to work with from beginning to end.   Our biggest appreciation is that David and Victor picked up their phones or returned texts right away 100%. They passed every inspection every time, and they have done the work beyond the requirements. We are so happy to know that all the work has been done properly and safely. I wouldn't have been able to come up with such a wonderful design without his advices. Additionally, the cabinet vendor he recommended had great prices and they assisted with designing the kitchen layout by providing computer drawn images using software. This saved a lot of time in the planning stage. Joe was our primary point of contact from start to finish, which made things go smoothly. During project execution, Victor was an invaluable point of contact for discussing and explaining technical details about our options, especially when inevitable complications arose. When we demo'd our old kitchen we found a major code violation that was concealed and they helped us correct the issue. It cost us extra but looking back I'm happy we worked with an ethically sound contractor who does things correctly and follows the city code. Those things can be huge problems later if you try to cut corners! Overall we had a great experience with Superb Builders and would definitely hire them again. They are very professional and do great work. We ended up with our dream kitchen for less than market average prices in our area!

Alex and his crew have painted both interior and exterior at our house over the past few years…read more Each time they are thorough, careful, and respectful. They just finished the exterior of our house, which required them to go through the house to reach the back. Each day they tidied up the first floor areas and picked up their drop cloths so we could access the living areas on that floor without going through a work zone. I was really impressed with the amount of preparation they did on the house before they even started painting, and feel the house is well protected now in addition to the aesthetics of a crisp paint job. Alex's quote wasn't the highest or lowest of those that I received. It was very fair. He also spent the most amount of time checking over our house and walking me through how he would have his team prep the house for the best results. Once they started working they were extremely through. I think all in all they were working on our house for 6 weeks? There were about 4-5 coats of paint on the whole house. It's very thick and I expect this paint job to last much longer than the prior one. We also had a lot of repairs that were discovered that needed to be done once the scaffold went up. The prior owners had deferred a lot of maintenance as well as left over 30 years of cords on exterior which Alex's team cleaned up. Alex was extremely kind to help find tradesman to come help fix things for us. We paid extra for that but the prices were all very fair. Great repair job! Mike did a great job on the plaster repair (including matching the existing texture, not an easy task) and the wall and ceiling repainting. It was a multi-day project, in order to let the plaster and coats of paint dry between sanding, etc., but Mike got it done as quickly as possible. Matt called afterward to make sure we were happy with the work, which we certainly are!
