AAA continues to apply their "not my problem" magic wand to everything... I'm officially finished with the runaround. AAA reached out here on Yelp claiming they would "investigate this," but their actual response was a carbon-copy experience of my original complaint: more deflections and more attempts to offload responsibility onto other departments. After being told to email them, I received a reply from their "Member Relations Coordinator" essentially stating it wasn't his problem and directing me back to a phone line. When I requested a simple email contact for the "correct" department to avoid more hours of asking some robot to transfer me to a real agent, they went silent. (shocked pikachu face) Their office's reply to me: "You have contacted AAA Central Penn... You are a member of Mid-Atlantic AAA. Please contact them to resolve your concern... Have a good day." -- David Gardner III My response to them: "I have no desire to navigate your phone systems to resolve this matter. If your office is not the correct point of contact, please provide me with the email address for the appropriate department... As previously mentioned, the service call in question occurred within the Harrisburg, PA region, which is why I contacted your office." The bottom line: I was ready to move on, but this performative "outreach" followed by the same miserable fumbling has convinced me that this is a systemic issue. Your systems appear designed to frustrate customers into giving up. Since you've made it clear you won't handle this internally, I am elevating this entire exchange to the Better Business Bureau and the State Bureau of Consumer Protections. I wonder if your organization will find the "correct department" once state regulators are the ones asking the questions. I am done playing middle-man for your offices. Shame. I have had a AAA membership with Central Penn for 27 years. It's been awhile since I needed to use it, but today when I tried it was a horrible experience. A total of 4 phone calls 3 of which I stayed on hold,after going through a ridiculous amount of prompts, for 7 - 8 minutes and then hung up. Finally put my service request in online because I couldn't get a person on the phone. The driver from the responding towing company was great to deal with and it didn't take him long to arrive. The lack of human communication and overall poor service was a shock after what I had been used to for nearly 3 decades. I inquired about cancelling my membership but since no refund would be issued I will just let it run out and try GoodSam next year. read more

I was told membership was 55 dollars, just got my card and they charged me 99 for the plus membership, I wanted the classic for 64.00 I just called and the girl at aaa told me i would have to pay 69.00 plus 15.00 enrollment, I said I'm already a member, wow, I said just let the plus membership go for now then, I will not renew , she just said ok! didn't try to help straighten the problem out! read more

Walked into the AAA on Paxton Church Road Harrisburg PA asking for travel literature on Key West. A few minutes later, I get handed a pamphlet. I thought AAA was 24/7 for roadside service? I waited an hour on the phone before someone answered my call. Absolutely ridiculous! I was standed on the highway during morning rush hour. The recording even stated I was caller one! Finally when the person answered, all I got was attitude. I guess it was too early for him to answer the phone. AAA has gone down hill the past 10 years. They keep raising rates but you get horrible service. I will not be renewing my membership. read more

AAA is really great, if you have a car and travel a lot, especially over long distances or have out-of-state family or friends you visit often. They have many services such as a 6 day a week notary, free maps and tourbooks and also sell travel equipment such as umbrellas and luggage. In addition they have auto, home & life insurance. My annual dues (plus rate) are as follows: 83 for primary driver, 57 for additional driver in same household. Roadside assistance is totally one of the best things they could have invented. Great discounts on lodging, travel, eateries, movie tickets, notaries, eyewear, maps & insurance with the "Show your card and Save" If your car breaks down they'll tow it anywhere in a 100 mile radius, plus they give you 5 gallons of gas if you ever should run out. I havent had that happen yet, but have locked my keys in my car. Never Ever Fun. read more

Beware the notary services. I took my retirement papers to be notarized. Because the clerk was sloppy and did not write neatly, it looked like she wrote 2020 instead of 2022. My retirement is now delayed. I also had to pay to Express mail another time, so I'm out another $26.35. Did anyone there care? Absolutely not. read more

Well today was an eventful one to say the least. My mom's car went nuts on the roof of the parking garage downtown... But AAA to the rescue - they had her up and running in no time! After the incident, I remembered that I lost my card in December and had been too lazy to go get it replaced. I thought, since I would be in the area I would stop by and get a new one. They were nothing but super duper nice. I paid my 1$ (what else can you get replaced for 1$ these days!) in change, and the woman quickly printed me a temp card. Every time I go to this office they're helpful - from my international driving permit, to random maps for my dad's crazy trips. AAA is amazing and definitely worth the dues! read more

My brother has premium...member for 28 years and what a run around!!!! He keeps getting cut off on the phone. They transfer his call, he gets cut off, they dont call back. It is a nightmare. He has spoken with 4 people in the past 20 minutes and still no response. They have no fricking idea what the hell they are doing!!! Make that 5 people now!!! read more

My name is Jason Shelley. So do not use AAA services. I am stranded along 81 near Hazleton they told me with my plus membership I have 100 miles of towing for free. Now it is Easter Sunday at 7pm when I called. The day and time should not matter!!! The customer service person told me it would not be a problem. I was told they were dispatching a truck to tow car and me home. Which is 89 miles. After 1:20 mins they call me back and tell me they are not able to tow me until tomorrow. . This is the second time in 2 months that they have done this. The other time they told me they could not get a truck to tow my Ford truck. I was able to secure a tow in less than 15 mins. Then when I submitted for reimbursement they informed me they were only going to give me half of $240 I paid. I paid $170 for the upgraded plus membership to be able to tow my 3 trucks, 2 cars and have peace of mind for my families safety on the road if I was not with them. And I have had nothing but lies and let downs from day one. How can a large nation wide corporation over 100 years old, not be able to fulfill what they advertised. I was able to make arrangement by making a simple google search & one phone call in less than 15 mins. Needless to say my policy will be canceled. AAA of central penn a joke. The only thing they provide is a false sense of security. I'm fairly certain both times I was not provided service because of the cost involved with both unique situations. Their customer service is terrible and not once has any manger or anyone called to apologize or try to make right on their complete failures. This morning I woke up and my car wouldn't turn on. Some idiot (me) left the headlights on overnight. When I called, turns out I also let my membership expire. Within an hour of my call, my membership was renewed, my car had a new battery, and I was on with my day. The woman on the phone and the man who came out were kind and helpful.
